south bay. 27-year-old ruben ramirez was found in san francisco tonight, called a person of interest in the attack that left a grandmother and her 1-year-old grandson dead. ramirez is believed to have fled the scene of the stabbing that happened in an unincorporated area of east san jose yesterday afternoon. kpix 5 reporter anne makovec is in east san jose this morning where investigators worked through the night. anne, good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: they have the street closed down. the good news is that the 3- year-old girl who was stabbed is alive in the hospital and she is in stable condition. but as you can see, police continuing their work here on the scene, viewmont avenue. they have been here all night long for about 14 hours now after a 48-year-old grandmother and a 1-year-old little boy were found dead. a family member came home to find them around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. and a massive manhunt began for ruben ramirez identified as a family member of the three. we don't know his exact relationship. police got a tip that he may be in san francisco 50 miles away and he was finally taken into custody later last night. >> so at this time, it's very preliminary in regards to our investigation, but we believe the person of interest may be our suspect and we have no other persons at this time. >> reporter: the san francisco police department and u.s. marshals helped take ramirez in. family members say he has mental health issues and may not have been taking his medications. he also has a history of minor run-ins with the law. and going to homeless shelters. so a troubled past. we'll see what his connection is to this horrific crime possibly a little bit later on today. right now live in san jose, anne makovec, kpix 5. >> that's true, anne. the santa clara county sheriff's department is expected to give us some more information about that person of interest later today. two young boys recovering this morning after being shot in vallejo. they were with a group of children outside arkansas street -- a home there last night. police say two juveniles approached and one opened fire. the boys hit are 10 and 13 years old. one was shot in the foot, the other in the shoulder. two suspects are now in custody. at least six people are dead after spring tornado outbreak in north texas. this video was shot in the town of millsap, but granbury, texas, about 40 miles southwest of fort worth, is the scene of the most destruction. and right now, a live news conference is happening in granbury. we are going to listen in for just a minute. >> got there as quick as we could, got the sirens set off. i think there's some video that was put out through some of your organizations that you can see the tornado in the background and hear the sirens going off. so we got information out there as fast as we could as soon as we realized it was getting bad. so we did it as fast as we could as fast as the information was coming out as fast as we knew things weren't looking very good we got the information out for people to take cover. >> you're hearing from the sheriff of hood county, texas, talking obviously about getting that information out to the residents in that town. he was talking a little bit about the sirens going off and the warnings given to those residents when the tornado was hitting. right now, elizabeth dinh joins us live from granbury with the very latest. elizabeth, a lot of people are displaced buy this storm. >> reporter: yeah. that's absolutely right. displaced. and so because of that, a lot of temporary shelters opened unone of them being this church. -- one of them being this church transformed where people could stay the night. people brought in blankets and pillows. this choir room was empty 12 hours ago but then people brought in supplies and that's not to -- to show you in another room, there's food and drink, as well. now, let's get to the video of the devastation that we are talking about. six people died in this terrible tragedy. we understand we just got an update from the sheriff. we know that 37 people were hurt and taken to the hospital. and of that number, three people remain in the hospital. last night, we had learned that 14 people had remained unaccounted for in this devastation but now we know that 7 people did get ahold of their loved ones so now 7 people are unaccounted for. also, the sheriff is telling us that every home, every structure, has been searched multiple times. they are continuing to do so because again those 7 unaccounted people, they want to make sure they can find out where they are. earlier i spoke with a survivor. >> i had my kids in the hallway with a mattress and praying that we would come out of it alive. and thankfully, we did. our neighborhood is gone. it's just gone. >> the hood county sheriff just updating us too that the number of homes damaged 110. damage or destroyed, 110 homes. now, a lot of devastation that many people are heading back to this morning. and that is the latest here in granbury, texas. elizabeth dinh, kpix 5, back to you. >> thank you, elizabeth. it's good to see the community is coming together. incredible all that stuff just overnight. it was just packed in there with food and blanket and clothes and all that kind of thing. >> one of those tornadoes maybe a mile wide. i was also just reading reports of hail the size of grapefruits. that is just amazing! and devastating, too. >> how much warning do they get? >> it all depends on the storm. sometimes you can get a warning a few minutes ahead of time, sometimes not much warning at all. so yeah, just head to the bathroom as fast as you can and hunker down in the bathtub. looks like we are going to see changes today. a lot of clouds in the skies now. got reports of a couple of raindrops finally hitting the ground. most of this looks impressive but not much of that hitting the ground just some scattered light showers beginning to show up outside but we have seen some of that in toward the livermore valley right now. just some light scattered showers. storm system very typical this time of year. a weak system sliding through. going to see a lot of clouds. not much in the way of raindrops. hey, we'll take anything we can get at this time of the year. looks like this system is going to slowly work throughout the day today. so we are going to keep things cloudy all day long with the chance of showers and temperatures generally running into the 50s outside. by the afternoon, keeping you cool, as well. 50s and 60s a little breezy at the coastline. and it looks like those temperatures are going to be running well below average for this time of year and a 30% chance of showers. let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> reporter: thanks, lawrence. and a couple of accidents out there including one near hospital curve southbound 101 approaching paul avenue. two lanes are blocked. a car hit a stalled-out car that was on the road and now slight delays in the area but again two lanes blocked. chp on scene now. expect delay southbound 101. 280 is a better option. they finally cleared this accident in oakland westbound 24 past the caldecott tunnel. took a while to clear this motorcycle wreck. we never saw huge delays out of orinda. at the bay bridge, just switched on the metering lights. we have some delays now in cash and fastrak lanes. that's traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. the search for a 9-year-old san francisco girl is sadly over. crews up in lake county found mikaela lynch's body in cache creek yesterday afternoon. the creek is near her family vacation home in clear lake. mikaela, who was severely autistic, disappeared while playing in the backyard on sunday. sadly, stories like hers are not uncommon. according to the national autism association in recent years 91% of autistic children found dead after wandering from home had drowned. in other bay area news, the 12-year-old boy accused of stabbing his younger sister to death has made his first court appearance. the boy is facing second-degree murder with special circumstances for the death of leila fowler in their valley springs home. the young suspect did not enter a plea. he is scheduled to be back in court on may 29. organizers of the bay to breakers road race set to hold a news conference this afternoon to discuss increased security efforts. changes were made of course in the wake of the boston marathon bombings a few weeks back. the race right here in san francisco and it's set to go early sunday morning so if you are coming in, take bart because it's going to be crazy. all eyes meanwhile going to be crazy tonight. it's the warriors, they have to win and beat the spurs to stay alive. game 6 is back home in oakland. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is live inside oracle arena with more. >> reporter: good morning. we're actually live in the players tunnel. this is where they are going to be coming out tonight. it is game 6 back here at home at oracle arena and they will come out to a sold-out crowd. if youake a look the arena is ready for that key player which i say is the fans. i mentionled earlier it's going to be a sold-out crowd. this is probably the quietest it will be on day. the warriors are gearing up for their game tonight. fans are hoping the team has recovered from the game five loss in san antonio. it was the warriors' lowest scoring output of the season. game 5 also wasn't point guard steph curry's best. he scored about half the amount of points he normally does. but coach jackson says his team is ready to turn up the heat. the warriors haven't been in an elimination game at home since 1994. if the spurs want to close out this series, they will have to do what neither has done and that is win consecutive games. back out live at the arena, i understand this will be the 38th consecutive sold-out game and that is actually a team record. so now that i know that it's sold out i figure i'll just hang out here for the rest of the day and hope that i can save myself a seat. reporting live in oakland, cate caugiran, kpix 5. >> probably not that seat. >> yeah. something tells me she doesn't
