On the outside it looks like a typical isuzu delivery truck but its v8 engine and drive time have been replaced with a battery and electric motors that have been throttled down from 500 to 200horsepower. Why wouldnt you want 500 . [ indiscernible ] [ laughter ] reporter the result is sports carlike instant acceleration and power. To stop the truck, you actually just let off the gas and braking brings the vehicle to a stop. You essentially just drive this truck then with one pedal. Reporter wright speed ceo ian wright says garbage trucks usually burn about 1,000 gallons of fuel a 14,000 gallons of fuel a year and spend thousands of dollars replacing the brake. When you brake in the traditional sense youre throwing money away taking energy that you got by burning fuel which you paid for and you just throw it away as heat in the brakes. This week we heard from chris in san leandro who sees pets who get overlooked because they are shy and nervous and he wants to know what should you do when youre looking at a pet at a shelter that might be, you know, a little shy, a little nervous . Can you pick him . Will he change . That kind of thing. You brought in kirby who is a shelter pie, how are you, buddy . What do you do . Is it their true personality . Can they change . I thought chris email was really thoughtful and i appreciate it a lot because it is true that pets will come in that are shy that come from a situation that might have been very loving and now they are in a situation thats very scary. And so it is kirby is all interested. [ laughter ] he hears the dog barking. It is true that if you give them time, they will open up potentially at home which is absolutely true. I like to use the shelter people shelter people are often very knowledgeable about the personality of the pet so if you see something that catches your eye, you love the way they look, youre very interested, its great to talk to the shelter people and say what is this pets like, whats the history, where do they come from . They might have been come from a person who passed away and they couldnt keep the pet or found on the side of the road. So thats why they seem so traumatized. The pets personality can change, right . If they are shy and reserved, if theyre introduced to a new environment they might change a little bit, too, right . Yeah. So i might say their personality has been subdued by the new environment. They feel, you know, dognapped. If you are in a cage. Exactly, right. Even when they get home i often times will tell owners when we do the initial exam to say that this dog you see now in two weeks when i do the recheck is going to be a completely different animal. So i thought that was an important piece of information to provide that it is true that you dont know the background and it may just very well be that theyre scared. So give them a chance.
