Reporter michelle, it was a packed courtroom this morning. 21 defendants in all and their attorneys all packed into one room but all eyes were on three of those defendants suspended state senator leland yee, former San Francisco School Board President keith jackson, both of them pled not guilty. And, of course, Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow, in the end he did not enter a plea but his defense attorney did speak to the media afterwards. He is quite well known and quite vocal. Raymond shrimp boy chow is being represented by legendary defense attorney tony serra a colorful attorney hollywood made courtroom movies out of serra says in this case, he will be putting the government on trial for their creation of what he calls criminal activity and entrapment of his client. The government created the crime, the government financed the crime, and the government ensnared my client by their affirmative acts. Reporter this morning was serras First Court Appearance with his client, affording chow the opportunity to delay and not enter a plea. Suspended state senator leland yee also attempted to not enter a plea. But the u. S. Magistrate did not allow it. Yee pled not guilty. His attorney gave no comment. Kpix 5 political analyst melissa griffincaen says attorneys delaying the plea is interesting. A plea deal in the works or Something Else that they are considering before they enter an official plea. Reporter the indictment handed down friday includes evidence from an undercover fbi agent saying as recently as march 11, the defendants met to discuss purchasing weapons from the philippines to import into the u. S. In the accused middleman of all this former San Francisco board of education president keith jackson, who pled not guilty this morning and could turn snitch. Happening today, Concord Police officer Matthew Switzer is due in court on drug and burglary charges. Switzer surrendered to authorities after an investigation began in february. Investigators say they were tipped by a resident of a concord seniors apartment complex that switzer was stealing their prescription medication. He was on administrative leave until last friday when he resigned towards the today investigators will release a report on how a massive fire started at an Apartment Building under construction in San Francisco. Last months fire destroyed the sixstory building in the mission bay neighborhood. There were no major injuries, but the fire chief called it the biggest fire in San Francisco in years. And fire crews are still on the scene of a fire that destroyed one house and damaged two others in west san jose. Several cars also burned on mossbrook circle. The fire started yesterday afternoon at at one point flames shot 50 feet into the air. A broken gas line made it more difficult to put out.
