police chief greg suhr says the eight officers including a captain caught exchanging racist and homophobic texts do not belong in his department. I have suspended them and they have been referred to the
Police Commission
with a recommendation of only termination. Reporter but his afternoon announcement was just one of several scandals he addressed including the investigation into a
Crime Lab Analyst
and supervisor accused of failing to tell investigators if suspects dna matched criminal profiles in a federal database. There could well be suspects that we should have gotten identified that we should be conducting investigations on. I find it repulsive. In my entire 30yearplus career in law enforcement, this is some of the worst allegations that i have seen. Reporter the

created a task force to look into all these allegations. As public defender jeff adachi threatens to bring back at least 1,000 cases in the last 10 years back to court. Because the evidence of these racist texts, um, affect the credibility of the officers, any case where a question was raised as to whether the officer was telling the truth has to be looked at again. These types of planes have small engines made of lightweight materials. Authorities say multiple people called 911 saying they saw the plane go down. The ntsb is investigating. The pilot was declared dead at the scene. It happened about 12 30 today near adobe creek golf country club. An apology and confession today from two teenagers accused in the death of audrie pott. The saratoga teen took her own life days after passing out at a house party and was sexual assaulted. Her attackers drew on her body and took cell phone photos and were shared with classmates at saratoga high. Her parents filed a wrongful death suit going to trial next week. Instead the parents of the two boys will pay 950,000 to settle the case. But the two teenagers will have to do more. They will be required to take part in a documentary about the case and speak honestly about what happened. Also, each will have to go on a public speaking tour going to 10 high schools talking about drinking, sexting and sharing nude photos. The third teenaged boy involved reached a separate settlement with audries parents last month. Tonight a new pitch to use technology to prevent tragedies along the caltrain tracks. Parents and students arent sure security cameras will do the trick. But its a start. says one of those safety improvements along caltrain tracks could be hightech cameras. The cameras would be able to see farther than a human eye and would alert police the moment someone steps on the tracks. It might provide better visibility and perhaps depending on how the technology works, just a little more time to to notify all the personnel needed to either stop the train or get the person off the tracks. The project will also cause frequent nighttime and full freeway closures in that area. The overcrossing will reopen in october of 2016. A tractor is churning up the soil and creating fertile rows for future crops. Im extremely concerned about 2015. Yeah, i think its going to be another hard year. Reporter michael is president of the farm. He says the fear of more water cutbacks means perhaps 15 of his land will be left fallow. It also means a lastminute change of plans for this 350 acre plot which was all set for cotton. So we went back and undid what we had done already for the cotton and went back and put in the preparations for tomato planting. Reporter despite all the rain in december, and no matter what happens for the rest of the rainy season this year, the farming season is already in trouble. Thats because farms have to plan for the worst and many of those decisions have already been made. A lot of guys have already made their decisions about if they think they could even plant any tomatoes or if they could plant any melons or corn. A lot of people have moved away from those crops. Reporter there are impacts you will never see as a consumer. This is alfalfa. It will be cut this year only six times instead of seven. That means that the price to

You see, the water is routed from a separate pipe. Just like any sink has a water source, there is the water source from the city water. School was a prime focus, something that was a big deal that in order to get out of this type of lifestyle get out of living this way for our children we knew that working hard in school to get somewhere in life would definitely be the way to go. I look at this young man. I scratch my head. Im amazed. Im pleased. He is a wonder. Reporter growing up, his family lived in the barbershop where his parents worked for a time because they had no place to stay. Later, they lived in a shelter. Patrick helped raise his little sister as their father moved in and out of their lives and his mother worked two jobs. But at last not all oh, no that is not all. Reporter patrick became the first in his family to go to college. Thats when students rising above stepped in. They were there for me every step of the way. And sometimes when i didnt want to be, too.
