Behind me you can see they blocked off kirkland avenue. This is where the boyfriend says she was kidnapped overnight and he was a witness to it and then at some point the kidnappers asked for ransom. Police are not elaborating very much. But they are searching for her. Searchers have been combing the neighborhood all day. They have even brought out cadaver dogs. Police say they are doing a fullcourt press. As of this moment, miss huskins whereabouts are unknown and we are treating this matter as a kidnap ransom and were giving it our full undivided attention until which time we are able to locate miss huskins and secure her safe return. A Police Forensics team spent much of the day combing his home for evidence. He tells police he was there when somebody kidnapped his girlfriend at his house in the middle of the night on monday. Why is he waiting ten hours to tell the police that, you know, shes missing . Recordings today captured the tense moments during a deadly confrontation at a winery in napa county. We have a male saying help me, help me, and he was shot. Be advised the subject is saying that he is shot again twice now. Theres other people on scene. No one is helping him. It happened last monday at Dahl Vineyards in yountville. Police say 47yearold robert dahl chased his victim at the winery before shooting him executionstyle. He then led police on a high speed chase in before killing himself. Police say the two men were in a business dispute. Multiple Law Enforcement agencies now working to try to recapture a prisoner who escaped in San Francisco last night. Alexander santiago gonzalez broke free as sheriffs deputies escorted him to take out the jail trash. The deputies chased after him in the area of harrison and sixth street but couldnt catch him he ditched his jailissued orange jumpsuit and was wearing only blue boxer shorts. Authorities are now conducting an internal investigation to make sure it doesnt happen again. After years of budget cutbacks san joses city council has moved forward with a new budget restoring some of the services cut during the recession. Reporter the city Council Voted unanimously this afternoon to move forward with the budget outlined by mayor sam liccardo. For a city that likes to think itself as the capital of Silicon Valley, san jose has really faced severe budget cuts in recent years. The budget was cut, City Services slashed and the Police Department amongst other shrank significantly in the past few years. The mayors budget goes a long way to restoring service. Libraries would reopen full time. While money is still tight the mayor is confident that the severe budget and service cuts of recent years are behind us. We know its been a painful time for the last two years. A lot of cuts, a lot of layoffs and our residents have felt it worse than any stakeholder because of the reduced services. This is an opportunity for to us take a collective breath, focus on where we can make those key investments in our future. Reporter the mayors budget does include significantly more money for the Police Departments, growing it from its current size of 1109 officers to 1250. Now, the next step in the process is the budget goes to the City Managers Office who will prepare a detailed line item budget. The city council will have to approve that final budget by june. Alameda county supervisors have given the company that operates Wind Turbines on the Altamont Pass another three years to upgrade their turbines. As kpix 5 reports, not everyone agrees with that decision. Reporter for years edge environmentalists have been pushing wind turbine operators on the Altamont Pass to reduce the number of birds killed by the spinning blades and today one of those companies took its case to the Alameda County board of supervisors. Project provides 100 million in economic benefits and 40 high skilled jobs. Reporter at monday winds, incorporated, operates about 900 older Wind Turbines and they have already gotten an extension on a deadline to upgrade to newer less lethal windmills but the company says it would be economically unfeasible and would have to shut down. Today they asked the board for a further extension to 2018 igniting a firestorm of criticism from bird lovers. Its time to give somebody else a chance. The number of birds that they have killed, um, that has to be stopped reporter but Altamont Winds says the numbers with exaggerated and points out there are deaths even in the winter when the turbines are turned off. Supervisors seem skeptical that every dead bird should be blamed on the windmills. The board is meeting right now. Its proposing an overall reduction of water use by 30 . Its also considering limiting Outdoor Watering to two days a week. If the goal is passed, they will be some of the most aggressive conservation measures in the bay area. It appears a big mavericks surf contest may not happen this year. Lackluster swells are in the forecast for the final days of march. And organizers say theres nothing out there to indicate any large waves will be developing anytime soon.
