Its only been 72 hours since an agreement was supposed to get everybody back to work. But now it seems some disagreements are holding all that effort up. Reporter big abudi owner of ab trucking in oakland, says these street should be jam packed with trucks right now loading and unloading containers. Instead theyre empty. Because of the union action theyre being told theyll be delayed again. Were still waiting to get containers. If theyre not made available we cant pick them up. Reporter todays holdup, the train operators were called back for some sort of meeting or conversation according to a source. Cranes load and unload containers from the ships. Without them, work essentially freezes. Weve had a couple of missteps sunday and again this morning briefly. Reporter port of oakland spokesman said he cant confirm why the crane operators are not on duty but he says their absence is having an impact on port operations. Theres limited vessel loading and unloading today. Thats because theres a temporary shortage of experienced skilled crane operators. Reporter another union action this weekend also slowed work. Nearly three dozen dock workers decided to take their breaks yesterday all at the same time. An arbitrator found that to be a violation of rules. Disciplinary action followed. All this after cheers went up because a negotiation went up. Its the first thing we thought of because now were back in business and we can start to recover from it. Its going to be a rough road but at least theres light at the end of the tunnel. Today that light is dim. I reached out to union officials. No response. Theres concern tonight about the demolition of candlestick park. Neighbors say the dust is endangering our health. Cate cauguiran tells us those neighbors are giving the city an earful tonight. Here at the shipyard, neighbors are already arriving to give the city as you said an earful and to voice their concerns about the demolition nearby. Candlestick point Neighborhood Committee has bip on the citys case since a proposal to implode the former stadium was put on the table. Now as developer lennar works to mechanically demolish the stadium, the concern is the dust from the construction affecting the air quality. Neighbors want to know how the city is monitoring these particles in the air as well as where these so called monitor boxes are. Just show us where they are and convince us that were being protected. Then well leave it alone. Because at least we know theyre doing their best effort to protect the community. Lennar did not want to comment on the issue but did say they are following the dust mitigation plan thats been outlined by the city. The city says they are going to be following up on neighbors concern. But so far the quality in this area is fine. Reporting live in San Francisco cate cauguiran, kpix 5. Oakland city leaders are once again in the midst of a fight to keep the raiders. The team is threatening to leave town if they dont get a new stadium. But is keeping the raiders here worth it . New at 6 00 kpix 5s phil matier on how much money it could take to keep the team in oakland. Thats right. First it was san antonio luring them. Then it was the raiders announcement along with the San Diego Chargers that they might be moving to los angeles. Thats got oakland officials saying how much is it going to cost to keep the team here and is it worth it . I think it could be upwards of 100 million. Reporter how much the public might pay for a new raiders stadium all depends on how you ask the question and who you ask. When you look at the value of the land, when you look at the infrastructure. Reporter lets not forget the 20 million a year that oakland and Alameda County taxpayers are still paying off for the 1995 raiders stadium deal. It makes you wonder, is it all worth it . We are interested in keeping our teams but not at any cost. Its a worldwide brand. What did oak land have if they didnt have the Oakland Raiders . Improving how traffic flows in and out. Thats an example of Infrastructure Investments that are absolutely appropriate. But i will not put city of oakland dollars in to stadium construction for sports teams that seem to make plenty of money. Reporter others are talking about maybe cut rate deals on the land where taxpayers paying the 100 million still owed on the last deal. But its still public financing. Do you think the voters will see it that way . I think the voters and the press and others are smart enough to figure that out. Reporter miley says it might be time to look at another idea. Take the existing stadium and retrofit that. I think we could do that for about 500 million. Reporter whatever the price, even the raider fans are wondering if its worth it. They can do it themselves. They can find investors. Reporter at some point i think you might have to if you want to keep them. And that is the big question. If you want to keep them how much .
