The shooter slipped away without a trace. Investigators say they are following up on some leads to track him down. In the middle of all that, an suv plowed into blackford elementary school. One of the schools that was locked down. The driver had a seizure while going through the dropoff. A child inside the car had minor injuries. The driver was taken to the hospital. Another bay area county declaring a state of emergency in the wake of our storms. Today San Mateo County estimated damage at more than 3 million. Earlier marin county reported damage estimates at a million dollars. Sonoma county has also declared an emergency with damage at 17 million. The declarations mean the counties can apply for state and federal aid to help with repairs. In the north bay the rain was too much for valley ford and bloomfield roads in sonoma county. Floodwaters stopped this white vw in its tracks. Four people were stuck inside. Cal fire called out a jet ski to rescue everyone inside. They had to climb out of a car window and carefully get on to the jet ski before making it back to dry land. I was waiting on other folks to come out and get me and it was really great to see how organized the operation was and i appreciate all these young gentlemen coming out to get me to safety. No one was hurt in the operation. Officials say the water was three feet deep and as a reminder right here, say dont drive through standing water. Reporter president obama went on to say why he believes sony should not have given in to the demands of the hackers who initiated a cyberattack now identified by the fbi as orchestrated by north korea. Our eye on the storm tonight People Living near San Francisquito creek cleaning in santa clara, san mateo counties, watching nervously every time it rains. That creek is notorious for flooding. But as kpix 5s don ford shows us, residents will now have advanced warning of up to two hours that flooding is about to happen. Reporter the San Francisquito creek creek divides palo alto and menlo park. Eventually, reaching east palo alto. It is one of the few remaining creeks on the peninsula that still floods from time to time. Its usually at night, right . The its rising. It comes up this high. And then it starts pouring over into here. Reporter he is referring to the flood of 2012 when the creek filled neighborhoods with several feet of water rushing up against the bridges. Now the San Francisquito creek joint Powers Authority is building a website to give an early flood warning. Give them now almost two hours of warning. Reporter by adding nearly a dozen new flow sensors, the creek can be measured precisely and predictions can be fine tuned. Helping homeowners and First Responders to prepare. But homeowners say they already use another website. For years now the city of palo alto has had realtime water levels on their site. You wonder whether or not we need Something Else to spend a bunch of money to make something happen. On the other hand, it could be useful information. If you bundle up, i have to tell you its nice out here, were at the Broadway Plaza in walnut creek where you can see that shoppers are strolling along and actually the rain has stopped. And according to merchants the rain earlier today didnt stop the heavy rush of people doing their holiday shopping. With umbrellas in hand, they braved the chilly rainy weather. And, in fact, we caught up with some shoppers this evening some lastminute shoppers. I asked them, are you out here doing the lastminute shopping or are you really just getting out of the house because its finally not raining . Weather prevents from you coming out or not . No. Im normally very prepared but two children made it horrible this year so we are going last minute this year. Reporter they have the rain jackets on so they are good to go. Yup. But the steady rainfall were done likely gone for at least the next week all the way through christmas. So yeah, not that bad if you head out this evening but a lot of other folks have plans to head out this evening so pack your patience. Highs low 60s. Upper 50s in san rafael and san jose. So wheres that rainfall . It is now way down in the south bay. Its cleared san jose. It has cleared milpitas. But were left with a pretty soggy atmosphere. And if you are driving at 60 miles an hour on a highway youre likely going to be using your windshield wipers because of all the water out there. Lets talk about the good side of the water. Just looking at one of our reservoirs, shasta lake, how much water has been added since monday . Four days, i checked the numbers, did the math, 37 billion more gallons of water are in lake shasta right now compared to monday. Thats how much water. A lot of rainfall falls into the reservoirs. We have caught 37 billion gallons of that in one of our reservoirs which amounts to 2 of total capacity. Its a big lake. Rain over the top of the ridge a building ridge of High Pressure is coming in but over top of the ridge we have a storm track that once again brought some steady rainfall into the bay area. That changes starting tomorrow. On top of the ridge we may still see a few showers out there in the far north bay but then that ridge builds closer to us. We are back to the kind of stuff we have had over the past three years so storm track, not over the bay area. Sunshine returns and well see temperatures pushing for some of you 70 degrees as we head toward Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
