That win would come from the u. S. Supreme court and that case is still pending. The other case was against the California Coastal commission. Today the Marin County Superior Court overturned the commissions orders to remove two invasive species, one being manila clams grown by the farm. Now, what that means is Drakes Bay Oyster Company can stay in business for now. The Marin County Court ruling said the Coastal Commission abused its discretion and in doing so violated environmental law. Drakes bay owners have been entangled in a legal fight since the then interior secretary decided that the oyster farm near point reyes would return to wilderness. The companys other appeal to the u. S. Supreme court is pending. In that case, its challenging the interior departments decision to allow the oyster farms permit to expire which it actually did in 2012. Drakes bay says the Supreme Court could decide by monday whether to take that case at all. Hard to believe its going to go all the way to the Supreme Court of the united states. Reporter the San Jose PoliceDepartment Found it had more patrol officers sitting behind desks for mandatory training updates than it had in the field to respond to calls. I think thats when the Chiefs Office kind of went into i dont want to say panic mode but they made some very quick adjustments and they suspended the training. Reporter officers are required by the state to undergo continuous professional training to sharpen skills in subjects like first aid and cpr and dealing with the mentally ill. But from now on, officers will have to schedule those trainings on their days off. A lot of it is efficiency. Uhm, you know, we want to be able to look at what where our bodies are at. We want to be able to put the most amount of officers on the streets. There have been a number of incidents where clearly there were Mental Health issues. Reporter he worries pushing back training will leave officers ill equipped to deal with people with mental crises. The man police shot in salinas showed signs of Mental Illness and according to one estimate, 40 of the officerinvolved shootings in california involve a victim who is mentally ill.
