Thats not long. Cloverdale, healdsburg in Sonoma County and lompico Water District in the Santa Cruz Mountains face the threat tonight. They joined 14 other communities statewide that are running low on water in the wells. Any rain this week would help as were facing one of the worst droughts in the states history. Health Officials Say they are making plans in case the rain stops and water runs out. Worstcase scenario it will include hauling water to the systems. So we are looking at things like that to actually solve this problem. The Health Department says it might have to dig new wells as well or in some cases connect smaller Water Systems with larger ones. In marin county, the effects of this drought are going to be felt right at home with water restrictions soon to be enforced. Water officials announced people will need to reduce water usage by 25 . The restrictions start april 1 and will affect nearly 185,000 people. Today president obama called Governor Brown about the drought. Helena, yountville, rohnert park first up to get the rainfall when it arrives but looking up to the north, im not seeing much right now. The next five or six hours will probably be rainfree. He opened in july of 1965. Its an institution. Lionel flew in from las vegas and this was the first place he stopped. This is what makes for me going home feel at home. Reporter but at age 75, and the majority of those years spent at the restaurant, joe decided his health was telling him to slow down. The restaurants last day is march 16. When joe opened a burger was 40 cents. Now its 11. He says thats not the only thing that change. He says the people and neighborhood have changed and the cost of doing business is going up. For him, profit wasnt the goal. He wanted regular customers. Very soon you become friends. Reporter joe worries if sold the restaurant the new owners would cut corners and disappoint. People ask me if the children going to take over i say no, i love it too much. Reporter he says 7 days a week and as many as 16 hours a day isnt what he wants for his children. They all found other jobs. A bookstore is in the middle of a challenging chapter to say the least. Marcus books in the fillmore is facing foreclosure. Its been in business for more than 50 years. As don ford shows us the bookstores past is just as important as its future. Reporter in San Franciscos fillmore district there is a bookstore some say is like no other. The oldest blackowned black themed bookstore in the nation. But theres a problem. Well, you know, we its like were in dire straits now. Reporter the building has been foreclosed and the family owned business is trying to raise money to buy the building themselves. They need 2. 6 million. And already, they have 1. 6 million. They still need another million to preserve the culturally unique site. This place has been able to find books, you know, that no one else can find. Reporter block culture, black history, black culture, africanamerican centric history collected since the store first opened decades ago. The coowner Karen Johnson says its not just an historic bookstore. You can be yourself. You can share your heart. You can say im hurting and someone will help you with t theres always somebody in here with what somebody else needs. Reporter in the 40s and the 50s, it was a jazz club. In the 60s, they started selling civil rights cultural history books. And today videos play on a screen honoring those who fought those early conflicts. Know, theres a lot of struggles here in San Francisco and marcus books would provide a beacon of hope and inspiration. Reporter the johnson family, too, is hopeful they will come up with the money before the deadline, which happens to be february 28th, the last day of black history month. This weekend, this old school bookstore will be using the new school form of fundraising. This is going to shove all this moisture that you see here into the bay area. Its going to push the storm track farther south. Thats going to give us rainfall tonight and tomorrow. The second wave will give us a cold front tomorrow. That will provide the rainfall. It will be a soggy day tomorrow. And that is excellent news. We need many soggy days. We are going to get one of the showers lasting until friday morning. We are going to see a new pattern. Ridge will slide west and well get a northerly flow being cooler. It looks like the storm track will lift far enough to the north to keep the rainfall away for a while. Showers tomorrow into friday morning. The steadiest rainfall will be about this time tomorrow.
