but you see some bright headlights coming at you. www.everywearetrackinganacciden tout12and9blockinganintersectio nandan here's a live look now across nature is. you can see coit tower with just along the embarcadero there's a bit of fog coming in so your headlines for today 10 degrees above average still but that's a little cooler than the past couple of days. we are going to get high clouds this afternoon. another storm in our forecast. look at the golden gate because of the fog. it's snaking its way across the bridges. right along the bay. we are getting west winds in san francisco pushing fog in from the coast. half moon bay visibility down to a mile. livermore down to four miles impacting the south and east bay as well but mainly across the north bay where it's dangerous down to less than .3- mile visibility for santa rosa, napa and petaluma down to half mile. we'll track it for you and let you know when that next chance of rain is on its way. one of the busiest shopping days of the years is here. we have live team coverage of black friday. jessica flores is at the san francisco premium outlets. first julie watts is outside bass pro shops with a breakdown of the best deals. >> reporter: you know, folks here are cashing in on some big doorbuster sales. there's this ride-in toy chevy that people are buying. there's also about $100 off a smith & wesson. we saw tons of people in line, lining up overnight to buy that. the question for people at home now is should you get up and try to grab doorbusters or might you be better off waiting until cyber monday to cash in on those deals? the answer is, frankly, depends on what's on your list. if you are looking for specific items a smith & wesson or ride- along truck, you want to come in and get the doorbusters but if you just need to shop, checking off the christmas list, you probably would be better waiting until cyber monday. so the folks at nerd wallet say if you do come in today, they do recommend bringing in the merchant ad with you because a lot of times you'll find coupons that you can stack on top of those already discounted items. but for overall discounts on a wide range of products, nerd wallet says, shopping on cyber monday is definitely a better bet. online merchants generally offer discounts 15 to 30% across a selection of items. it may be easier to stick to your shopping list online. >> if you go into the store on black friday you might buy what you weren't planned and a lot more. so it is worth it if you are just generally looking to shop or get some shopping done. it's worth waiting for cyber monday to see what some of the sales have and what retailers have in store. >> reporter: she also points out that black friday and cyber monday are no longer what their names mean. cyber monday used to be online only and black friday was in store only and now you will find deals on cyber monday in store and online today. so it really doesn't -- it -- go ahead and look around and try to find the lowest prices. if you do head into the stores, yes, there are some great deals. but 8% of items that you see today on store shelves are actually going to be more expensive than other times of the year. so just because something looks like it's on sale doesn't mean it is. be cautious. the doorbuster, you know it's marked down, then you'll save money. but overall, you could lose money by shopping on black friday. so you want to be cautious about that. back to you guys. >> so glad we have julie out there. you're our most savvy shopper in the kpix 5 newsroom. thank you for your work today. kpix 5's jessica flores continues our team of coverage live from the premium outlets in livermore. >> reporter: michelle, anne, the lines are still massive here. we were at kate spade in the last half-hour and it's still a two-hour wait. the stores with the long lines are these designer stores. people want 70% off purses and actually i have been talking over here to erica and crissy who -- you haven't got anything yet but you made a beeline here for kate spade. tell us what you expect to do. what's the game plan today? >> um, well, look for a few, like, for some people but mostly for ourselves. [ laughter ] >> for ourselves. >> reporter: how much money do you plan to spend today? >> um -- [ laughter ] >> i'm just going to see what i can get and just try to be reasonable for a little bit. [ laughter ] >> not get carried away. >> reporter: why kate spade? this is a massive line here, one of the longest. what is it about this store? is it 70% off? >> reporter: coming here the past couple of years now, kate spade's deals are worth it with the 70. it's usually like 60 off, 60, 20. but i think the 70 is pretty good. >> reporter: they have been in line already here for about half-hour or so. they still have a long line ahead of them. kate spade, thank you, girls, they are letting folks in about 5 at a time right now. and the national retail federation expects folks this season to spend about $1,000 on gifts which seems about right with the folks i'm talking to. people here just today or this morning and last night have spent already $50 so they plan to spend even more. so that seems pretty accurate. the designer stores are hot. purses cost hundreds. if you can get a $400 purse for $100, that's what they are hoping to get here. so we'll keep an eye on things out here. the lines are going pretty smoothly. it's jam-packed here at the livermore outlets but it's supposed to get more packed come around 8 a.m. when folks do wake up and head out here for the black friday deals. reporting live in livermore, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. dozens of stores offering black friday deals are staying open through much of the day today until late tonight. best buy staying open until 10 p.m. toys 'r us through 11 am [, kmart midnight, kohl's also midnight and j.c. penney open until 10:00 tonight. beware, some stores offering these early doorbuster deals, those are only available for a limited amount of time. yesterday my 9-year-old wanted to go to target and i said it's thanksgiving. it's closed. she said no, it's open until midnight. >> and it was? did you go? >> no! >> i still said no. >> put your foot down on the holiday means holiday. >> we played cards. >> very wholesome.
