We have the complete fleet week forecast thats coming up at 18 minutes after the hour. A brazen escape outside a san jose courthouse. A suspect is on the loose and neighbors are on edge. Kpix 5 reporter kiet do on why this escape was especially difficult. Kiet. Reporter this guy pulled off quite the houdini escape. He ran through an area thats normally crammed with a lot of Law Enforcement. He evaded a couple of k9 units even the s. W. A. T. Team all while wearing handcuffs this happened yesterday afternoon at 2 30 when David Nghounoi was brought into the public lobby area of the hall of justice with two bail bondsment. There isnt much security in the area except for the deputies working the xray machine. He was with two bail bondsmen. There are a lot of officers coming and go. Nghounoi bolted toward hedding street. The 30yearold man was seen on 2nd street nearly half a mile away. San jose police mounted a house to house search and found nothing. Scary. Definitely pretty scary. I just got off work and i was this is my path home and i saw cops. We know that the jail is right next door but its just a wonderful place so im surprised that this is happening here. Reporter now, nghounoi is from san jose. He has two felony warrants worth 400,000 for burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. He is thin, 511 tattoo on the right side of his neck. Call police if you see him. In san jose, kiet do, kpix 5. Police have released the identities of three suspects believed to be connected to the killing of a wellknown therapist on a marin county trail. The three all have been arrested. Sean angold 24, police are not sure where he is from. The next photo is of Morrison Lampley, 23, thats a mugshot from a previous arrest. Police say he has been busted for drugs in the past. And the last suspect is lila allgood, 18 years old. Now, key evidence including Surveillance Video and gps led police to the three suspects in portland, oregon. Police say they also have the public to thank. Its because of the hundreds of phone tips that we received over the past 24 hours we have been piece it all together. They were caught yesterday in oregon. Tragedy in oakland. A Church Leaders killed and a suspect is in custody. The victims family says he had known his accused killer since childhood. 24yearold Christian Shepherd was a deacon at True Faith Baptist Church in oakland. He was killed tuesday night near russell and california streets in berkeley. Friends and family gathered at the church to remember the married father of two. Police say motive for the killing is still unclear. Shepherds brother had a message for the communities. To stop the violence. Not black on black, not white on white, just violence period needs to stop. We are taking lives. Any details emerged new details emerged showing a bizarre trend. The suspect shot two other people the same spot last year. They survived. 24yearold Anthony Durant was ultimately convicted of a lesser crime and put on probation. He is held without bail at the berkeley jail. It is 6 05. Police lured a suspect down from a ledge in San Francisco with a help from a cat. It started when the chp pulled the suspect over yesterday. He took off, ran up to the second floor and thats them at a building on 10th street and climbed over the window where he did threaten to jump. Police were able to coax him down after 2. 5 hours of talking. Heres how they did it. His family brought his cat to the scene believe it or not. You see the officer holding it as the suspect sits in the back of a Police Patrol car. We are told the cat calmed down the man. He eventually came off the ledge. Police arrested him. He was then led away only wearing a pair of shorts. Police say he may have been in an altered state. Governor jerry brown took californias Climate Change goals to an ambitious leveling by requiring the state to get half the electricity from renewable sources and Double Energy efficiency in existing buildings by 2030. A third component would have cut gasoline use by 50 , as well. That failed. The governor is promising to fight on. The trouble with Climate Change is its a bad happening rather slowly. And if we dont get it in time, it will be very difficult to turn back. The bill also includes other changes to boost clean power including creating incentives for utilities to install more charging stations for electric vehicles. The governor also vetoed a bill that would have limited Police Departments acquiring surplus military equipment. A lawmaker from the bay area proposed the bill because of Community Concerns that Police Departments are receiving military equipment thats inappropriate for city streets. Coyotes are a common walk for people in San Francisco. Now they are scaring them away. Yesterday dozens of pet owners attended a Community Meeting in stern grove where a dog died after an attack. They also have ships at pier 80 and 1517. The tours start at 10 a. M. Fleet week really is just a big celebration of military service that draws tens of thousands of people to the San Francisco waterfront. There are booths and displays from the navy, marines and coast guard from the bay bridge all the way to the golden gate. At the marina green they have a big humanitarian festival set up where the military demonstrates the good it can do in times of tragedy. Speaking of, they spent part of the last week training with our local emergency responders. It was really a great opportunity for the military to be involved with the city of San Francisco to learn where our capabilities can match for disasters. Its still slow from 238 through hayward approaching the fremont area because of earlier problems now. If you plan to make the san mateo bridge commute, that westbound drive is still doing okay approaching the toll plaza. Just a brief delay there and once you pass the pay gates, traffic picks up and does just fine heading all the way across the bridge into foster city. Backups at the toll plaza extend into the macarthur maze. The drive time between the carquinez bridge and the maze. Holding steady at 39 minutes. Backed up highway 4 westbound stays heavy to richmond because of an accident cleared up from lanes. Its been a busy morning with accidents but all lanes are open most of the crashes have cleared up. The commute toward the Richmond San Rafael bridge no problems. Flowing well west 580 towards san rafael. No mass transit delays. Late roadwork on the nimitz is cleared. It begins to fall apart as it backs into the cooler waters of the Pacific Ocean but nevertheless, computer models have it sideswiping the Pacific Northwest with some gusty winds also the potential for some heavy downpours into western British Columbia. Okay, roberta. Thanks. The Leadership Class at Alhambra High School in martinez is teaching students to be good citizens and they did just that following the devastating valley fire up north. Its this weeks cool school. [ music ] reporter the Leadership Class at Alhambra High School has signs everywhere reminders of what leadership means. We talk about service. We talk about community. We talk about how we can help. Reporter this years theme together we can, has been tested. After the devastating valley fire destroyed 1300 homes, a student more than 70 miles away in martinez wanted to help. I was like i need to do something. And so i got my friends involved and i said whatever you can donate like gift cards, whatever you have. Reporter the class set up barrels in every school in the district and held drives at football games. Clothes, School Supplies and almost 2,000 in gift cards poured in. Seeing everyone come together and help another community thats very similar but smaller, um, really means a lot. Reporter they then traveled to middletown to deliver what they had collected. We got a lot of backpacks and School Supplies because a lot of the students who lost their homes didnt have access to any more supplies. And once we delivered it, they will be able to use them for the years to come. Really mindblowing how they have everything that i had at the one point and then the next day or not even the day, the next hour it was all gone. Reporter alhambra is still collecting. The week of the fire was supposed to be Middletown High Schools homecoming dance. So these leadership students are collecting dresses and semi formal wear to make it more memorable. Im just really glad that our Community Came together to go help and support another community and i hope that if we were ever in that situation other communities would come and help us, as well. And they are collecting those prom dresses for Middletown High School students. They are going to pick them up october 25. Its alicia not martinez.
