been the result of road rage. two men and a gray suv opened fire on a white toyota camry. as it merged onto eastbound i- 80 near airbase parkway around 9 am. both men and the camry were hit. the driver has major injuries. the passenger is expected to survive. the gray suv sped away. the chp is asking any witnesses to give them a call. a bmw ended up mangled and upside down after it flew off of a san francisco freeway before dawn. it happened at 4 am this morning and slammed onto burke -- vermont street below. the driver not only survived, he was able to get to the hospital without assistance. police are trying to figure out what caused the crash. specs hundred -- hundreds of people that lost everything in the wine country wildfires got something back today. a new set of wheels. >> reporter: one month after fires tore through their neighborhoods the people here have a reason to smile. >> this is good. this community is magic. >> reporter: lindsay waddle says he tries to find a little bit of normal each day. today that normal is getting a bike. and having the freedom to ride again. >> this is great. i will be able to ride down to the store. >> reporter: 540 bikes were brought here to be handed out to people who recently lost everything. various fire departments helped organize this event. >> to be able to help out after such a tragedy happened up here, it's a good feeling. >> reporter: for one family this means they can get back to doing what they love. riding their bikes together. >> we all lost so many bikes. this is great. the kids have been missing their rides. >> i think it's cool. i have two shifters now. i like it. it's pretty special. >> reporter: hundreds of people from across sonoma county were lined up to get bikes. starting well before this event even started. by 10:30 am they had given away all of the adult bikes. if you did not snag wheels there is still a chance you can get one. >> if people aren't able to get bikes today we will see >> law enforcement, city officials and local community groups put the event together. people in santa rosa are being warned not to drink the tap water, or cook with it. the notice went out last night. to 13 homes in fountain grove on crown hill drive and for ridge drive. the water department fell slightly elevated levels of contaminants after the fires. officials say they will notify homeowners when the water is safe again. sonoma county residents whose homes were destroyed in the fires have until monday to sign up for a free debris removal. to take part in the program homeowners have to submit a right of entry form to their counties designated center by close of business on monday. the forms have to be signed by all owners, trustees, and anyone with power of return -- attorney related to the property. a century-old bay area cemetery is running out of space. the mountain view cemetery in oakland says it is almost sold out of burial plots. is an expansion plan in the works. has to clear some hurdles first. including some objections from the neighbors. it is one of the most treasured private open spaces in oakland where people come to enjoy the winding path. they walk their dogs, jog, and for many they come to visit loved ones who left in peace.>> this land is owned by mountain view cemetery. >> reporter: jeff is the mountain view cemetery manager. he says they are close to capacity. they are working on an expansion project. this historic cemetery dates back to 1863. this expansion project would happen here on about 7 1/2 acres of undeveloped land. it is already in high demand. people want this particular space because of the panoramic view showing the entire bay area. adding more than 6500 burial plots to mountain view cemetery would mean removing coastal live oak trees. >> we are talking about cutting down 134 trees that would be required by the city of oakland to be replaced on a one-for-one basis. our intent is to replant many more trees than that number. >> reporter: cutting the existing ones doesn't sit well with longtime residents, and environmentalists who plan to fight the project at the next planning meeting at city hall.>> i do not want to see trees cut down. >> reporter: mountain view cemetery says it's expansion project would not only include adding more trees in the future , it will save some of the existing healthier oak trees. >> we love trees. we listen to the comments that people made as well. they asked whether or not we could save some of the trees. we also identified 20 of the larger oak trees that we intend to save. >> reporter: an expansion project that would give mountain view an additional 15 years of capacity. >> the oakland planning commission will meet to discuss the project on november 15 at city hall. a bay area ceremony on this veterans day to remember a pivotal naval battle in world war ii. 75 years ago american and japanese forces fought in a battle. today's ceremony happen at the uss san francisco memorial. situated high in the city near lands and. 77 sailors on that ship died. including a captain and eight admiral. the u.s. 1 the confrontation in november 1942. northeast of australia. it took heavy casualties as well. >> over 1400 sailors died in that battle. yet they accomplish their mission to defeat the japanese force, and protect the u.s. marines that were on the canal. by their sacrifice they change the course of the entire campaign, and frankly of world war ii. >> a representative from the japanese counsel spoke at the ceremony tonight. and san jose crowds tri-valley horseshoe club. the current facility was built in 2000 by club members who rake and mow the manicured lawns and keep the clay pits at just the right moisture for good pitching. the club members, most of them elderly, are proud of their clubhouse and horseshoe pits. have a great time hosting statewide events. they were shocked when a few months ago they were approached by fairgrounds management. >> they said we have no agreement with you. they said we have no insurance. >> reporter: for the last 45 years the club has operated for free on just a gentlemen's agreement. some members scramble to get insurance and a written contract for the remainder of the year.>> in the meantime they also said we are not planning on having you guys back next year. >> reporter: fairgrounds management denies that saying they have invited members to appear at a grounds keeping meeting in january. they say they are communicating with the club about future use of the facility, and we look forward to meeting with them in early 2018 to discuss plans moving forward. members say the tournament schedule fills up quickly and waiting until january will be too late to schedule events here. they feel they are being tossed out.>> i guess it would be more of a local feeling of the fairgrounds. now i think they are normally thinking how can we make more money. >> reporter: club members are in la we found people convicted of serious crimes including dealing drugs, kidnapping and firearm offenses offering places to rent on airbnb. even though the company's policies for bid it. >> nick independently verified every name and criminal history. gop senate candidate roy moore is pushing back tonight against accusations he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl decades ago. our reporter tells us the former judges also rejecting a mounting pressure to back out of the alabama race.>> reporter: was speaking at a veterans day event, former alabama judge, roy moore, denied he ever made sexual advances towards a 14- year-old girl. >> these attacks involve a minor. they are completely false and untrue. they are very hurtful to me personally. >> reporter: heat rejected claims that he gave the accuser alcohol. >> i did not provide alcoholic beverages or anything else to minors. >> reporter: moore was favored to win the senate. the washington post story accusing moore of sexual misconduct has led to a mounting patient -- pressure for him to drop out of the race. the senate campaign committee stopped raising money for moore. senator steve daines and michael lee rescinded their endorsements. in alabama, a handful of republican lawmakers are sticking with moore. including state representative ed henry. he told a local newspaper that the women should be prosecuted if they thought moore was predatory and allowed him to exist for 40 years. moore reminded his supporters at saturday's event that the senate race in alabama could have far-reaching implications and >> it's a bacteria that you get through air conditioning. you can get pneumonia. >> reporter: are you aware there were cases of people here at disneyland? >> no. >> reporter: the healthcare agency said a dozen people were infected in anaheim. nine of those were exposed from the bacteria that causes legionnaires' disease right here the park. >> once they have the symptoms is not like the typical walking pneumonia. they are quite sick. >> reporter: one person died. >> people who have underlying medical problems are people who are at risk of dying from the disease. >> reporter: the disease got its name from a convention in 1976. it causes a type of pneumonia. >> people have a cough and high fevers and chest pain. they feel very ill. >> reporter: in disneyland's case, two water towers were the source. reportedly right here behind the new orleans times square station. park visitors were exposed to the bacteria from september 12 through the 27th. once it was determined, nine cases were linked to disneyland they went to work. chief medical officer wrote in a statement about the two water towers, the towers were treated with chemicals and are currently shut down. they indicated there is no longer any known risk associated with our facility. even the doctor said that disneyland is on -- has done everything they need to do. if you have tickets, come on down. forecasting fires from how the eye in the sky could give a big hand to firefighters on the ground. >> reporter: this year the worst wildfires in history scorch california while major hurricanes ravaged the u.s. weather satellite watched it all. >> it's an imager. it watches weather. provides that continuous movie loop of clouds and information. >> reporter: it's it's stationary over the united states. another satellite is needed to track storms out over the ocean. >> it orbits from the north pole to the south pole. while it is orbiting the earth is rotating underneath it. we could get to collect global observations. >> reporter: the satellite will be crucial in forecasting out 27 days. >> it will provide data to models twice as fast. it will also have six times the vertical resolution. >> reporter: how will the satellite help wildfires? >> we have a sensor that is so sensitive we can see fires before they can become larger. that will give firefighters a head start. we use our data to predict the spread of fires. which is very important to fight fires. also to forecast smoke coming out of fires. which is important for air quality. >> reporter: gps s1 is one of five satellites in the satellite system fleet. it will launch throughout the next 14 years. >> meteorologist lisa meadows. >> the satellite is expected to launch on tuesday.>> it's been a long ways. that was 57 years ago. now we have high tech stuff going on. >> from the transamerica pyramid mostly clear skies. livermore, mostly mid 60s. as we look at san jose, concord has 60 degrees. numbers generally in the upper 50s. under california's memorial continues to grow. 14 names were added to the memorial wall in sacramento. many of them because of chemicals those men were exposed to during the vietnam war. chemicals that tonight at 11, wilson walker has the story of the year-long struggle. >> california marine lost half his body in combat. what he did not lose was his spirit. our reporter shows us how his strength and courage will be inspiring an entire nfl stadium this veterans day weekend. >> i tell people i had a blast. >> reporter: you wouldn't expect jason ross to make jokes about the blast that caused him to lose the entire half of his body. his sense of humor has helped in his ongoing recovery over the last six years. >> i have two kids.>> reporter: two kids they don't really remember dad before he was in a chair. he told them about his injuries and why he joined the marines in the first place. >> it's about serving our country and feeling a sense of pride. being able to give back to the country that has given you so much. >> that is why he is not sure what to think about being invited by the los angeles rams to be the hero of the game this veterans day weekend.>> i am very humbled. >> reporter: his father, a veteran himself, says jason is being recognized because of his fighting spirit. he was only given a two percent chance of living when he was injured. he has had over 200 surgeries. >> he lost the lower half of his body, but yet survived. >> reporter: they hope when other veterans see jason that recovery is possible. he hopes that nonveterans appreciate the sacrifices that people like his son have made for this country. >> try to step up and help the foundations that are helping the veterans. there is so much of a need there. >> the rams will honor the sergeant
