Monday morning the newell creek pipeline leaked 1500 gallons of water for minutes for hours before shutting down. Water officials urged customers to cut back on water use by 30 , keep conserving water while the repairs continue. Pretty as it is up here on Mount Hamilton, the road isnt safe and the observatory doesnt have facilities for people to play in the snow. A sinkhole causing problems in the east bay closing an intersection and rupturing two sewer lines. The sinkhole is in orinda on the shoulder of miner road. Check this out. Sky drone 5 got pictures. It shows the sinkhole measuring roughly 25 feet wide, 15 feet long and20 feet deep. They are trying to stabilize a water main on the street before repairs start. Drinking water was not contaminated. So far, we have gotten 46 inches or 92 of our annual total. Thats caused flooding. But it doesnt tell the whole story. To make up for shortfalls people pump ground water especially in the central and san joaquin valleys. In process of doing that theres been a tremendous deficit of ground water developed over five years. Reporter it will take years of above average rainfall to replenish ground water reserves. Thats something the Water District will have to think about when it considers eliminating its 20 conservation goal this month. Reporter so they volunteered to be part of a project that took 25 women from the bay area and 25 from alabama put them in a private facebook room and let them talk about politics. I am still very much in favor of gun control. But i was able to get an understanding a perspective that i hadnt had before. I thought that a lot of people in california, um, would support the cal exit movement. I know i saw so many interviews and protests and people supporting calexit and that really disturbed me and when i posed the question in the group, not a Single Person supported it. So that really cleared things up for me. Reporter its the brainchild of two people both former journalists who quit their jobs to start spaceship media. Its goal is to facilitate dialogue and this is spaceships first project. Were so grateful to all the women who participated. Reporter two groups provided funding and support. It added or is in the process of adding 45 billion gallons of water just today. We have the best water Collection System anywhere in the country i would say the world. We cant collect all of it but we are collecting a lot of it and thats part of the reason why the drought in california is over. High temperatures today wet roads may turn into ice tomorrow morning.
