Question do you sit through four miles of bumper to bumper traffic on 680 northbound through fremont or listen to waze and exit on to mission boulevard . Sit through a few stop lights and jump back on to 680 on the north side shaving a few minutes off the trip . It turns out thousands of drivers take the shortcut every day clogging up mission boulevard. Residents complained. And the city of fremont actually asked waze to change its algorithm to keep drivers on the freeway. They werent exactly open to doing it but once they saw what it was doing and as well as some solutions from our transportation people, they are willing to form a partnership. Reporter fighting fires is tough on equipment. And about 2007, San Francisco fire began collecting all its old worn out gear. We saw this equipment getting turned in or thrown away. Reporter so four years ago a group of firefighters who call themselves the bomberos began sending old equipment to nicaragua. He says fighting fires is different there. Normally they would hail a cab, get on a motorcycle and just respond however they can. With two or three tools maybe in flipflops, no helmets. Reporter on this day at a storage yard in concord the volunteers were loading up their largest donation yet a 30,000pound container to be shipped to nicaragua at the end of the month.
