Those come in that more rolling motion we all feel and they do the most damage. The goal of the Warning System is to get alerts out to people before the swaves come in. Reporter our poll shows that even 47 of gun owners support these background checks to buy ammunition. But one Gun Rights Group against prop 63 has a new weapon in their arsenal. Among them, a requirement for a permit and a background check in order to buy ammunition. Also, ammunition purchases would have to be reported to the department of justice. Melissa caen, kpix 5. Its happened again to chinese tourists, robbed of their cameras near the crooked part of lombard street in San Francisco. Police say a pair of robbers threatened to shoot tourists about a block south of lombard at 1 45 yesterday afternoon. No gun was ever shown. Its just the latest in a string of crimes in that famous area. Back in june, two tourists were attacked and mugged. Then august of last year, two people chased down a tourist, stole his camera, then he fought back and they shot him in the shoulder. Cal fire says containment has increased to 34 . The fire has destroyed 8 homes and is threatening more than 300 other structures. Reporter allen, we are live here on Loma Chiquita in the heart of the burn area where on monday they saw some of the hottest flames and most destruction. Firefighters call this a clean burn. Thats because theres nothing left out here but ash. And that includes that house there, 32480 Loma Chiquita road nothing left on that house but the chimney and the foundation. If you pan out wide here, you can see theres a lot of smoke, you might be able to hear but not see some of the helicopters making drops out here. This inversion is making life miserable. Improving conditions means we can finally go deep in the burn area and see the destruction firsthand. Firefighters call this moonscape. Some homes were lucky, not others. This home on Loma Chiquita road, the car, the front door, the bathtub, a mattress, a treadmill, all gone. Day 4 of the loma fire is all about a stubborn inversion layer traffic smoke in the valleys. As if conditions werent bad enough, firefighters are chasing down hot spots on steep terrain while breathing in lots of smoke and pilots are flying blind towards the flames to make water drops. They go in there with a hope and prayer. And lots of good instruments and training. Reporter the fire is deep inside the perimeter away from the containment lines. You get steep terrain, a lot of just loose soil like this. Come wintertime, this is going to be a problem because we are going to have a lot of mud slides and erosion. So firefighters say this should be cleaned up and contained by october 3. And by the way if you can see, there you go, we are in the last hour of helicopter drops here. Union leaders say its using nonUnion Workers for one reason. Its greed. Pure simple greed. They can afford to share that wealth. They aut to be paying decent wages and providing benefits and they are not doing it. Reporter contacted by phone, the company had no comment. But workers say its part of a trend to hire workers from the Central Valley and in some cases out of state workers who will accept less than half of what san josebased Union Workers are paid. As a first year apprentice at 25. 66 in the union and at start off in the nonunion at about a little over minimum wage. Reporter and that does not include benefits. Union workers are afraid they will eventually be priced out of Silicon Valley. If you are really trying to help, you know, build the middle class, do your part. Give us a fair shake. Doesnt deserve any breaks. Reporter the victims of the gone girl case stood with their attorney calling out of the authorities. So far, the system has failed Denise Huskins and aaron quinn. If there ever was a man who deserved to do life behind bars, its matthew muller. Reporter he appeared shackled and in an orange jumpsuit in federal court where he change his plea to guilty in exchange for a potentially lighter sentence. We feel that this is the way that will someday open a door for him to return to society. Reporter federal prosecutors are recommending muller face a maximum of 40 years behind bars instead of life in prison. But a judge will make the final call. Matthew muller is accused of drugging and tying up quinn and kidnapping huskins from the couples vallejo home in 2015. Vallejo police initially called the crime a hoax once denise turned up in Southern California. So if anything, it is mr. Quinn and miss huskins that owes this community an apology. They didnt do a good job in this case. They impeded the investigation to the point where denise had to suffer through two days of anguish and assault. They could have found denise. They could have saved her. Reporter huskins and quinn are suing Vallejo Police saying they caused them emotional distress, ruined their reputations and put them in danger. Emily turner, kpix 5. The Vallejo Police department has not commented on the lawsuit. Now, as for muller, his sentencing hearing is scheduled for january 19. The attorney for Denise Huskins said she was not the intended target of the kidnapping scheme. It was supposed to be a different woman who had previously lived at that home. The Attorney Says that the lead fbi investigator had a conflict of interest, a personal relationship, with that other woman that he did not disclose. And i can be absolutely sure that he failed to disclose the personal conflict of interest that he, the head lead fbi agent on the case, had himself personally. The attorney would not go into any more detail only suggesting that a personal relationship between the fbi agent and the intended target hampered the investigation. We have reached out to the fbi. The agency has declined to comment on the allegation. Dramatic cell phone video of a chase in the east bay. Last nights pursuit reached speeds of 120 miles per hour. It started moments earlier when two armed suspects carjacked a woman. It happened in danville. From there police say the suspects sped northbound on to i680 and then high 24. Deputies trying to stop them with a spike strip near the caldecott tunnel. They got away near the College Avenue exit in oakland. Police are still trying to track down the suspects and the womans car. A Welcome Development for bay area crab lovers. Dungeness crab harvest could start on time. As lisa chan shows us fishermen hurt by last years big delays are hopeful. Reporter for 37 years, john mellor has been working daily to make a living. Twothirds of his salary comes from crab. Last year he lost a huge part of his income. Borrowing money from friends and i mean, you know, we live in the most expensive place in the nation probably. So its a very big challenge to survive with no income. Reporter last year high levels of domoic acid were detected in the crabs. So they posed a significant risk to the public if consumed. But the California Department of Public Health started testing dungeness crab a few weeks earlier than usual this year and so far results are normal for this time of year which is great news for fishermen like mel lor. Everything is looking good. So i would imagine stuff is going to bounce back big. And you know, just got to hang on until we can start fishing. Reporter the crab season starts november 5 for recreational fishermen. And november 15th for commercial. Just in time for people to get crab for the holidays. The department of Public Health will continue to test crab once a week and it will have a better idea if theres a chance that crab season will be delayed by the end of october.
