He is related to this trex. Both from the hands of these former industrial light and magic model makers. Put your hand, your fingers, you should be able to feel reporter i feel a pulse. Change it from strong to medium to normal to weak. Reporter when computers started doing the worker rick jenson and ter ral bowman did for george lucas, they brought their special effects skills to trauma fx, to take on practical skills. Head and neck suspended on his belly basically legs sprawled out. Reporter hero becomes a hero to k9 handlers to train in emergency techniques. Starting to move. [ laughter ] come on, boy. Reporter dozens of handlers came to san mateo today to practice rescue techniques they never could on a real breathing dog. You wouldnt try this on a real dog or practice, this would hurt. No, no, actually. Reporter his open wounds stopped bleeding if you dress him right. His pulse slows if treat the injuries jus correctly. His airways clear if you get the tube in. So youre actually putting air into it. We developed it for use in the military and also for private sector use, police, s. W. A. T. Teams, um, veterans and were also looking into veterinarian school. You can practice on a number of different injuries and it gives a much more realistic much more lifelike experience. Reporter just to give you an idea, this is the last generation of such dogs trauma models. The fx designers already have the human trauma simulators. That helps soldiers deal with ied injuries in the field. The model makers are helping the world now that they help destroy in, say, ghostbuster 2. Mike sugerman, kpix 5. We continue to update our breaking news tonight. An attack in the south of france. A truck slams into a crowd of people watching fireworks. Dozens are killed. The latest on whats being called an apparent terror attack. And donald trump delays his plans to name a Vice President as indianas governor emerges as the likely pick. What were learning about the man who may be number two on the republican ticket. Sfx turbines revving up, getting louder and louder you hear that . Thats the sound of our summer sale firing up its engines with fares as low as 69 dollars oneway. So get ready to take off. Because sale prices as low as these dont happen every day book your low fare now at southwest. Com low fares. Nothing to hide. Thats transfarency. Sfx clap, clap, ding truck driver slammed i we have breaking news out of nice, france. 77 people confirmed dead tonight. Dozens more injured after a truck driver slammed into crowds that had gathered to watch a Fireworks Show for bastille day. The truck managed to drive another mile before coming to a stop. Witnesses say thats when the driver got out and opened fire. To give you an idea of where this happened, it was along a busy boardwalk that hugs the mediterranean coast. People were gathered along the shoreline and the beach to watch the Fireworks Show. About 5 minutes after the show ended, thats when the terror began. Police confirm that the driver is dead. In the back of the truck, officers found weapons and grenades. Its unclear whether the attacker worked alone. So far no groups have claimed responsibility. Donald trump is delaying his announcement of his Vice President ial pick because of the attack in france. It comes as cbs news reports trump will choose indiana governor mike pence as his number 2. Weijia jang reports from cleveland where the Republican Convention starts in four days. Reporter veronica, indiana governor pence will be able to offer something to the gop ticket that trump cannot and thats significant political experience. He served as a congressman for 12 years before becoming governor an as a staunch conservative, he can calm some of the republicans who are still convinced trump is bad for their party. A gop source confirmed to cbs news that indiana governor mike pence will be Donald Trumps pick to be his Vice President ial running mate. The decision comes a day after pence and trump spent time together at his indiana home. I support donald trump. He has the right stuff. Reporter pence is not known to many voters. A poll shows 86 of those surveyed say they dont know enough about him to formulate an opinion. But pence is seen as someone who can rally the conservative base. It will keep the delegates at the convention happy because he is a social conservative. He is a family man. And he is an economic conservative. Reporter here in cleveland, news of the pence pick was met with enthusiasm among delegates already in tow working on rules for next weeks Republican National convention. They definitely have a different style in public speaking but i think they will complement each other incredibly well. Reporter Hillary Clinton is working to finalize her choice for Vice President. She is campaigning with virginia for tim kaine, who is rumored to be among a short list of finalists for the job. Hillary is ready to make history. Yeah [ applause and cheers ] and thats why were ready for hillary. Reporter the same cbs news poll also shows clinton and trump are in a dead heat heading into the convention. Trump has not said when he will reschedule that big announcement to formally introduce his Vice President but it was originally scheduled for tomorrow in order to simulate the base and get everyone excited for the convention which begins on monday. So there are a few days left to go. Veronica. Thank you, weijia jang in cleveland. Kpix 5s melissa caen joins us. Lets go ahead and talk about this pick because as you heard, she was saying most americans doesnt really know pence. But he does bring significant political experience to the ticket. What else does he bring . Two words. He is normal. And hes evangelical. Because look, right now, in cleveland, behind the scenes of these Committee Meetings theres a contingent of never trump folks who are still trying to finagle the rules to allow the delegates to be inbound and still remove donald trump as the nominee. So what he is doing by telegraphing that he is going to be picking pence is saying, everybody, chill out. I have picked somebody who is not newt gingrich. I picked someone who is relatively normal and someone who evangelicals can get behind because a number of the never trumpers are ted cruz supporters who still say that donald trump should not be the one. So he is clearly trying to bridge the gap on a couple of levels. The cbs news poll just came out shows that the email scandal is weighing on Hillary Clinton right now. Lets talk about some of the numbers. Just 28 of voters have a positive view of her. 62 say she is not honest or trustworthy. 50 say she is prepared and thats down from the last poll. How damaging has this last week or two been . Clearly it has hurt. She is going to need to do some work to try to repair the relationships. But heres the thing. 52 of people said she is not trustworthy. 67 of people said she is not trustworthy. So while these numbers are not good, she is not running against an altar boy by any stretch. There are big unfavorables on trumps side as well so thats keeping that in perspective is whats important. We have a look at some of the speakers at the Gop Convention next well. Sillicon valley billionaire petethiel. Tim tebow. A pro golfer female. And former new york mayor rudy giuliani. Whats also interesting is who is not on the list. Thats right. Theres a big omission at least one big omission that we can point to and thats sarah palin. She came out early and endorsed donald trump and did a couple of events for him and all of a sudden disappeared. I think everyone assumed that as one of the marquee republican names who was an early endorser of trump that she would be at the convention but she is not. Theres a story there that we are not being told. [ laughter ] you have to wait for the book after the election to find out exactly what happened. I saw the first movie and it involved john mccain. It didnt end well. Exactly. [ laughter ] we are going to learn more about that later. Still feeling the hurt on that. Yes. All right. We also learned today that governor jerry brown will lead californias delegation to the Democratic National convention in philadelphia thats on july 25. Other highprofile delegates include Lieutenant Governor gavin newsom and attorney general kamala harris. And more fallout from the violent san jose trump rally last month. Trump reporters are now lawyering up. According to San Francisco based dylan law group 14 defendants are suing the city of san jose. Mayor sam liccardo, police chief eddie garcia and individual rioters. They say the city created a dangerous situation despite hundreds of police in full riot gear. The plaintiffs said they did not do enough to protect them individually. The lawyer representing them is vice chair of the California Republican party. In the meantime Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader ginsberg says that she regrets publicly criticizing donald trump. The spat between the 83year old woman and the Presumptive Republican nominee blew up monday during a tv interview when she called him a faker. Yesterday trump called on ginsburg to resign. Political pundits say the harsh critique was surprising, coming from a sitting Supreme Court justice today ginsburg said, judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future i will be more circumspect. Coming up, the pokemon craze leads some players right off a cliff. Others into a tiger cage. And danger, 70 stories up. Why a tourist who took a slide on the tallest building in the west is now suing. ,,,,,,, some people into trouble. Two people fell off a cliff in Southern California while playing the game. The pokemon craze is leading people into trouble. Two people fell off a cliff in Southern California while playing the game. Firefighters say the men climbed through a fence yesterday afternoon while chasing the monsters. One man fell 50 feet down the side of a cliff. The other went down 90 feet to the beach both survived and were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. In ohio, two pokemon players were arrested at the toledo zoo after they climbed into a tiger enclosure. And then in long island, a 19 yearold had his cell phone stolen while he was playing the game. A new attraction in los angeles called sky fly is now the target of a lawsuit. 45footlong slide openedded just last month on the side opened just last month on the side of the u. S. Bank tower downtown. It runs between two floors nearly 1,000 feet up. A woman from new york says she broke her ankle while riding down the sky slide earlier this month. And she is suing the buildings owner for negligence. This is life changing for me. Im im an athletic person and, um, you know, this is not this is a break [ indiscernible ] the lawsuit says its too difficult for riders to slow down. It also claims theres a dangerous gap between the end of the slide and the mats where people stop. Thats where the plaintiff says she got her foot stuck. At least 77 people are dead in nice, france after a suspected terror attack. Tonight were asking you in the wake of these attacks, do you feel safe here in the u. S. .
