Kpix 5s linda yee is at the intersection where the man landed. Wonder if people knew what happened. Reporter not at first. Everybody was shocked. That victims work crew was preparing to clean the buildings of the bank building. They were up on the roof 11 stories high when somehow something happened that victim fell on the slowmoving car and that may be the reason why he did not die on impact. The window washer was with his partners on the roof. Police say they were working with cables most likely preparing to hoist their working platform which was still on the sidewalk below. Thats when something happened and the victim fell 11 stories. His body slammed on a toyota camry which just happened to be turning at the corner of montgomery and california. The impact destroyed the car. Eyewitnesses looked on in horror. I just saw a blue object and then the crash on to the car. And then i saw the as it rolled off, i realized it was a body. It was a person. Reporter other people ran to help. They said the victim was still alive, gasping for air. Luckily, there was a nurse in the crowd. Um, and we were waiting for the paramedics to show up but the nurse confirmed that he, he definitely was bleeding from the ears. Reporter police say the victim remained conscious when paramedics arrived. When he left here he was critical, looked like he might have had a compound fracture to his arm and other injuries. Reporter tonight police say he remains hospitalized with lifethreatening injuries. In the meantime the cause of the accident is still under investigation. But one officer said the victim was not wearing a safety harness. Here are some photos from witnesses. It was chaotic before it was taped off. The smashed car in the middle. Fire trucks arrived to clear the area and get the victim to the hospital. The window washer works for a Company Called century Window Cleaning out of concord. The company has a fairly good record. But it did receive several citations in 2008. One of them serious. The violation involves training of personnel and equipment use. The company was fined more than 6,000. A big rig fire during the lunch hour caused a huge traffic mess on 80 in berkeley. A viewer took this video and sent it here to kpix 5. You can do the same thing. Bright red flames engulfed the empty trailer of that big rig, sent that thick, black smoke into the air. Four of the westbound lanes as well as the gilman street exit were blocked for more than an hour. Not clear what started that fire but fortunately no one was hurt. A man held in the bay area jail is calling his experience 29 minutes of torture. [ screaming ] youll get tased again, do you understand . [ drunken rant ] the he was arrested for dui then repeatedly tased. Tonight, we are hearing why officers may have been been correct in what they were doing. Da lin reports. Reporter yeah. It is very uncomfortable to watch, liz. The man who released the video calls it 29 minutes of savage beating but is it . We sat down with an expert to examine the footage. [ ah ah ah ah get down reporter its hard to watch. Maybe even harder to listen. Ah ah reporter a man face down on the ground as a taser goes off. In this 29minute video at the Sonoma County jail, sheriffs deputies tased esa wroth about 20 times while he was cuffed. [ drunken screaming ] reporter he says deputies punched him over a dozen times, kicked and kneed him a couple of more times. They took him to the emergency room after he blacked out. The last thing i remember is a blow to the face and then i woke up 13 hours later. Go, go, go. Ah reporter it happened two years ago after wroth was arrested for dui. Wroth calls it torture. I almost died. This is what the officers were doing. Reporter an independent Police Trainer watched the police video and said they did nothing wrong. Basically force never looks good. Reporter he says even with six deputies on top of wroth, they struggled to put a second set of cuffs on him because he kept resisting. Its not like they just stood there and kneed him, kicked him and punched him. Each thing they did was in response to his resisting. Stop it, stop reporter wroth says he wasnt fighting back and his body was simply reacting to being punched and tased. But the Police Trainer disagrees. He is moving before the taser shot when they tase him he actually stops moving each time. Reporter at the same county jail recently four inmates died in one month and with this latest video some are suggesting that theres a pattern of police brutality. A baby sea lion is making a recovery in the bay area thanks to an unusual coast guard rescue. Reporter returning from a Training Mission in seattle, the coast guard helped bring a baby sea lion to the bay area found starving abandoned on a beach he is rescued and recovering in marin. He will be in the hospital here through the winter until the spring when he is about 10 months old. Reporter they named the orphan leo. Stellar sea lions are smart, curious and generally not cheyenne maps. Theres a special concern about him being attached to humans. That can have very dire consequences when they go back into the wild. Reporter staff feed them from behind shields so he doesnt associate humans with food. When leo first arrived, he was about 100 pounds. Full his grown, he could be as large as 2500 pounds. Thats a big animal. Thats a very big sea lion so if they are not afraid of humans and they come up to them and maybe beg for fish, then that could be dangerous to both the humans and the animal. Reporter in a few months when leo can fend for himself, he will be released back up north. At the Marine Mammal center, don ford, kpix 5. Leo is only the fourth stellar sea lion pup helped at the Marine Mammal center in the last 20 years.
