Kpix5. A suspected burglar is dead after tangling with police. Officers were called out to willow place this afternoon to investigate a report of a suspicious person. Kpix5 is there with what happened next. Len. This is not a part of the bay area that sees a lot of violent crime. Were on willow road right next to the sunset magazine offices and the shooting happened about a block and a half from here on willow place. Menlo park investigators and crime scene techs are on the scene here tonight. So willow road remains closed while officers process the scene. The shooting happened at 12 30 this afternoon. The call came in from a Small Business of a suspicious male in the area. Police say three officers responded and found a burglary in progress. They confronted the man who started running. Police officers ran after him, one fired a taser at him, but it missed or had no effect at the time. Officers did not know that the man was armed. The male suspect pulled out a gun and possibly took aim at the officers. At this time, its unconfirmed whether the suspect fired his weapon. Officers shot the suspect and he was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police say the suspects weapon was recovered at the scene. His body stayed in the middle of the street for several hours before being removed a short time ago by coroner officials. Police are not releasing his name pending the notification of his next of kin. One of the officers was taken to the hospital with an injured knee. He suffered during the foot pursuit. The three officers involved are on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Reporting live in menlo park, kpix5. The last officer involved shooting in menlo park was in december of 2006. New at 5 00, now the Domestic Violence charges are dropped against ray mcdonald, he is sharing his side of the story. The d. A. Decided there wasnt enough evidence to charge mcdonald. He understands. Investigators were just doing their job. Ray mcdonald walked into the room of vindicated man. I understand that the police department, you know, they had a job to do. You know, they 100 made the correct decision. Glad its over. Mcdonald just wants to move on with his life and career. As far as lessons learned, never put himself in that situation again. It didnt affect me a whole lot. It was weighing on me. I had all this stuff that people were saying about me that i knew wasnt true. It sucks that having people saying this stuff about you and you know its not true, and i just have to keep my mouth shut and let the whole process play out. The double crested are refusing to leave despite the demolition work. Crews have been trying to lure them over to the new span, caltrans will have to spend 33 million to move the 800 state protected birds and their nests. So demolition can remain on schedule. The diamonds too small to be seen, but they are much larger than the diamonds commonly found in these types of meteorites.
