And it was in effect for more than an hour meaning no flights could take off from Southern California airports. You can see behind me here at l. A. X. , there are flights taking off planes lined up on the tarmac. Now, this included more than just l. A. X. Also John Wayne Airport in orange county, ontario airport in the empire state building, burbank airport, and san diego airport. Also parts of utah, nevada and arizona were affected including las vegas international, phoenix and salt lake city. The faa issued a statement this afternoon saying the widespread ground stop keeping all flights from departing those airports i mentioned was due to technical issues, some sort of computer problem, at the faas Language Center air Traffic Control in palmdale. That center manages high elevation flights. Some flights were diverted that were headed to the affected airports, others were not allowed to take off if they were headed here. Now, during this ground stop, however, flights were able to land but again, they could not take off. Now, even though this ground stop has been lifted, if you are flying in or out of the Southern California region, you are definitely going to want to call ahead because there will be delays. At l. A. Reporter allen, chopper 5 is over the scene right now and just about a half hour ago, the battered shell of that cessna emerged from the water. It went down sunday afternoon after colliding with another plane midair near the richmond bridge. The other plane landed safely after divers hooked the wreckage on to a crane, it was hoisted on to a barge. It will be hauled to shore so investigators can try to figure out exactly what went wrong. Now, kpix 5 producer Wilson Walker is out on the water right now. This was his view from the boat. Now, obviously, the biggest challenge which is keeping the wreckage intact, they had it wrapped with netting to try to contain everything, but wilson tells us every time they moved it, you could hear the creeking sound of mangled metal. This is one of those stories thats shocking to start with and gets stranger. Reporter the accusations facing Andrew Nisbet are anything but strange. Sex acts with minors and now murderforhire. Reporter the 32yearold nationally recognized golf instructor is accused of abusing students between 2007 and 2012 at the golf course parking lot on golf trips and at his livermore home which is next to a school. He told nisbet he was a mechanic and made a pistol shooting motion with his hand. The turn mechanic is often used to mean hit man or contract killer. He said there were two cars one and mouthed the names of two of his three alleged victims. The document reads nisbet offered to pay the money up front. A Mountain View man is under arrest accused in two separate kidnappings. 23yearold Kenneth Middlebrook was arrested monday. Police say he convinced a 19 yearold san jose woman to drive him to Mountain View, then held her against her will. They say that she intentionally hit another car, jumped out and ran to that other car for help. Middlebrook took off in her car driving away. But a few hours later middlebrook allegedly kidnapped another woman in Mountain View and had her drive him all the way to ione. Police say when he got out, she took off. Officers found middlebrook a short time later wandering around on foot. He is facing killed napping, robbery and battery kidnapping, robbery and battery charges. No word on motive.
