The faa says normally each year about 33 people are injured because of turbulence. But in the last two days, on just two flights, at least 14 have been injured. A man on a stretcher rushed to the hospital after the flight finally landed. The extreme turbulence started eight hours into the flight from sfo. One passenger told us, he thought he was going to die in the freefall. Extremely scary because it was throwing you up and down sideways. Reporter passengers know turbulence is part of flying. This is the unnerving outcome when a plane meets two air masses colliding but it rarely ends like this. Pictures from passengers on the flight capture the aftermath of the two terrifying minutes and just the day before passengers on this united flight faced similar turbulence. There was a guy in front of me actually who lifted up and hit the ceiling of the plane. Reporter the faa says the backtoback scenarios are a coincidence. People were forced on the street while authorities fixed that leak. We are told construction crews accidentally ruptured the gas line. Contra costa county firefighters are warning about an increase in marijuana grow houses. And those are putting neighborhoods in danger. He will not be returning there for his safety. Reporter he says when the two suspected burglars spotted his guard last thursday, the suspects got into their car and almost ran over the guard. President obama says he applauds the country after his own push to raise minimum wage nationwide. Supporters of a federal minimum wage increase are rallying in the bay area tonight. The movements follow a new federal report that says raising the minimum wage could pull 900,000 people out of poverty. The downside is that it could slash more than 500,000 jobs. Advocates at a rally in Mountain View say the extra money in the economy would end up paying off for everyone. People who live on minimum wage are going to spend that extra income that they have. They are going to spend it on rent, heat, food. And so it supports the economy more broadly. California will soon have the highest minimum wage in the country 10 an hour. Senator Barbara Boxer is calling on her colleagues in congress to raise the minimum wage. We also will fight with everything we have to raise the minimum wage. We owe it to our working families at least to get back to the power that minimum wage had in 1968. Boxer also called for legislation to extend long term unemployment benefits.
