Reporter it looked like a parade of cars along westbound highway 24 early this morning. But instead, it was at least a 20car mess stranded in lafayette, no one to tow. Something was in the road and bounced my car all over the place. It was violent. It was very violent. Reporter the culprit, this mystery piece of metal waiting in the number 3 lane on highway 24. Unfortunately, even though drivers couldnt see it, they felt its wrath on the their cars. Bounced up off the road, came back down real violent. And i just pulled to the side of the road like everybody else. There was just a line of cars all the way down this road. Reporter tony king was one of dozens of drivers who had to pull over. He said the right front end of his car came off the ground when he struck the metal. Several other drivers got flats. Even ruptured fuel tanks and oil pans. The list of damages went on and on. I got front end damage and two flat tires, popped a hole in my oil pan, blew out my tires and cut my gas line. Reporter the drivers hit were stranded for nearly two hours waiting for tow trucks to arrive. With that many cars, drivers say there werent enough trucks to move them. Prosecutors say Surveillance Video shows the crook acted in selfdefense but the bouncer first approached him with a folding knife. Two men are accused of trying to rip off their company. Anthony torres and Nicholas Gill were arrested for stealing pesticide from a terminix Pest Control Office in pleasanton. Torres is a former employee, gill still works there.
