Lets move from the san mateo bridge from hayward to foster city, thats a 13minute commute between 880 and 101 so looking smooth if you are heading into the peninsula and across the span from the Golden Gate Bridge from marin county to San Francisco thats 14 minutes. More worries about erosion in paka this morning. Strong waves and rain tearing away at the cliffside and doing some major damage to coastside trails. A tricky restoration project is under way after a 15foot sinkhole opened on sunday forcing the closure of the serpentine trail part of the job guiding a long tubular boom into place. Some locals say these public trails mean a lot but erosion is a constant concern. Losing the trail, its kind of sad. We were here in august and walked down the trail, walked on the beach with my kids from florida. More and more of the cliff goes every year, its just sand. There used to be more land on the cliffs. The Department Even had backyards. Now crews have had to use concrete to save the beach trails. Forecasters predict high tides 7 feet along the coast this week. The king tides come in every day through friday. Experts predict the embarcadero and highway 101 near lucky drive in marin could see flooding. And then expect a 13minute drive across the span of the san mateo bridge between 880 and 101. Thats from hayward to foster city. Moving over now to the slow moving conditions across the Altamont Pass coming off 205 inching your way through at just 12 Miles Per Hour. Sonoma county deputies chased after a driver sunday night through windsor finally catching up with him at a shopping center. Thats where deputies say the man pulled out a black object and pointed it directly at him. The deputy opened fire hitting the suspect once in the shoulder. The man is recovering well. He now faces assault charges. Deputies learned late thats right object he was holding was a metal bike lock. Pretrial hearings are set to start today in the sex assault case against bill cosby. So well let you know when that is cleared out of the roads. Slow over the Altamont Pass at 14 Miles Per Hour, picks up to 30 Miles Per Hour at north flynn road. Free through livermore on to the dublin interchange where you haver slow traffic, Altamont Pass and 680, 16 minutes. Hayward to foster city, 13 minutes. Expect some delays at the bay bridge toll plaza, carquinez bridge along the eastshore freeway to the maze will take 21 minutes. 15 minutes from the toll into downtown San Francisco. We all know traffic is pretty bad in San Francisco. Now officials are calling out Ridesharing Companies for the jamups. San francisco has the third most congested streets in america. The sfmta says thats because roughly 45,000 drivers working for uber or lyft are packing the city with cars. Soon those drivers may be able to rent vehicles for their work. Thats a proposal the sfmta opposes. The agency also says Environmental Concerns cannot be discarded. We have to go through an Environmental Review and yet, conversely, they can add thousands upon thousands of uber and lyft pncs to the streets with no Environmental Reviews. As for the taxi count, some 1800 of them also use city streets to pick people up. Donald trump has officially named Rex Tillerson has secretary of state. He is the ceo of exxonmobil. He has no formal Foreign Policy experience but has built several relationships with World Leaders through the company. Today the Federal Reserve kicks off a twoday policy meeting and its widely expected that Interest Rates are about to drive. Cbs News Business analyst Jill Schlesinger breaks down how this affects our cash flow. How exactly will this, um, [ indiscernible ] impact savers and investors . Reporter i would say that savers would be winners except that after last years Interest Rate increase, banks passed very little of the increase on to their customers. Eventually, we expect savers should see benefits of higher rates. Now, stock investors should win if the fed goes slowly and the economy improves. Thats a good combo. Historically shares of banks, energy, industrials and technology do quite well amid rising rates. But remember, when rates rise, bond prices fall. So the bond part of your portfolio youre going to feel some pain there. What about people who are borrowing money . Reporter well, you know, borrowers are absolutely the losers when it comes to rate increases. But i guess the good news is we are still at relatively low levels. Mortgage rates, yes, they started to rise ahead of the meeting. But they are still affordable. Other consumer loans are likely to increase after tomorrows decision but think of it this way. Lets say if you needed a car loan and you have decent credit. You dont want to worry too much an extra quarter point on a 25,000 loan, that amounts to just a few dollars a month in higher payments. Most your credit cards, they do have variable rates. Card companies will quickly pass that increase to borrowers probably within a few billing cycles. You may want to also consider looking in a zero Balance Transfer offer. Im not sure those are going to be so available next year if the fed keeps hiking. Federal Student Loans are fixed. Some folks in san joses rose garden area are fighting to keep a fence aimed at preventing crime. They built a fence at the end of rose crest terrace in response to a sudden surge of graffiti and home burglaries. The fence separates their streets from busy dana avenue. Since the emergency permit that was issued two months ago, we have not had one incident since. Neighbors are urging the city to allow the fence to be permanent. A shooting near a College Campus near sacramento at an apartment complex near the American River college. Deputies say three women and one man were shot. One is in critical condition.
