Visibility fine in the south and east bays. We have visibilities problems in petaluma, though, right now where the reporting station is less than 1 10 of a mile. So just a few hundred feet visibility there. You might find dense patchy fog around the bay today. The fog has filled in around the bay. Headlines for today a chilly morning with patchy fog, cool and dry for your thanksgiving. North bay showers beginning friday. The rest of us seeing it by saturday. So heres our rain futurecast showing rainfall totals. The colder system will have less moisture with it. Well see low snow shower levels by sunday. Saturday half inch of rain for most spots, more in the north bay which sees showers friday but overall not talking a big soaker. Sounds like something out of a movie about two inmates have escaped from the santa clara main jail by cutting through the bars over a jail window. The search is happening right now this morning. Kpix 5s Sandra Osborne is live in san jose with the details. Reporter good morning. Originally it was four inmates all trying to escape the jail breaking through the bars of their window cutting through that. And i just spoke with a sergeant with the sheriffs office. He tells us that they use clothing and whatever they could find to rappel out of the windowed second story window down to the ground. It was on the old section of the jail here on the other side of the main building. Now, you can see deputies around here have an intersection blocked off. We are currently at heading and san pedro. They are letting some foot traffic go through but so far no vehicles have gone through. Now lets tell you who they are looking for this thanksgiving morning. We have rojelio chavez who has the facial tattoo around his left eye. And theres also campbell 64, 220 pounds. Chavez was booked in august on burglary, extortion, false imprisonment charges. Campbell held on robbery false imprisonment and firearms charges. Around 11 00 last night the four inmates cut through the bars of the window and made it to the ground. Two were captured and somebody was patrolling and saw them in the shadows. Chavez and campbell got away. The search continues with helicopters and k9s. The sergeant was saying that especially for people trying to escape the jail here they are probably pretty desperate this morning so in that case they can be considered dangerous. He said if you happen to see them, dont approach them. Dont try to catch them. But instead, call 911 right away. Sandra osborne, kpix 5. New this morning, Antioch Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17year old boy dead. It happened around 9 00 last night on a walking trail near mark twain drive about a mile from deer valley high school. When Police Arrived to the scene, they found the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital. Police have not released any information about a suspect or a motive. The San Jose Police Officers Association is taking a stand amid in the rise of assassinations of officers in the u. S. Heres an excerpt of a Youtube Video released by the poa. We are drawing a line in the sand and this is going to stop now. The video questions the lack of public outrage over the killings of Law Enforcement personnel. 57 Police Officers have been shot to death in the u. S. So far this year. Thats a sharp increase. Ablack lives matter have threatened cops, threatened violence, talk about killing officers that we deserve it. The District Attorney warns someone is calling people and telling them their Social Security benefits have been suspended. They then try to get information about the victims senior savings. Seniors are strongly advised to hang up if they get one of these calls. This should be a relatively mild day at the bay area. State Health Officials have now delayed the commercial crabbing season from humboldt bay to point reyes. As many as half of the crabs caught in that area had domoic acid that was over the safely. The toxin is deadly for humans. Last years crab season also was delayed for months. Officials say that crab caught from oregon to humboldt bay or south of point reyes is safe to eat. Today Charities Across the bay area will provide thanksgiving meals for those of course in need. Inside the kitchen where they are going to begin carving turkeys today, you can see they have an array of veggies here behind me ready for volunteers to start streaming in and chopping up and over there, yeah, the beginning of hundreds of turkeys that are going to be carved today. They actually started cooking these turkeys at the beginning of november. Then they froze them. They will be served to thousands of people today. Glide has been doing this for 50 years here at their facility on taylor and ellis. Glide serves a million free meals a year, three meals a day every day. This is video from past years thanksgiving celebration. Glide also helps people find housing, healthcare, treatment for addiction, and in december they give out grocery bags and toys for the holidays. They are still looking for donations for the holidays right now unwrapped toys. So plenty of opportunity to help out again. They need help year round. So the big celebration starts at 10 a. M. In downtown san jose thousands are expected to run in the annual Silicon Valley turkey trot this morning. Love the costume. They are expecting more than 25,000 to take part with family and friends coming together for the 5k and the 10k run walk. The event benefits a number of organizations including the Second Harvest food bank. Police are now saying a fifth child died due to injuries sustained in the accident. In comes as more information on the bus driver is reported. Reed binion reports. I saw mothers passing out and screaming. Reporter the community absorbing troubling new details about the incident and the man driving the bus when it swerved off the road with 37 students on board slamming into a tree. 24yearold Johnthony Walker is facing charges including vehicular homicide. This was just the most recent accident he was involved in according to officials. The drivers driving history did include a minor wreck in september of this year investigated by our agency. Its also part of the investigation. Reporter additionally the ntsb says the bus wasnt even supposed to be on the road where it crashed. In the course of looking at the history of talley road it wasnt on the designated route for that school bus. Reporter as for walkers condition at the time of the accident, toxicology results do not indicate that he was under the influence. We received toxicology reports back two days from the Tennessee Bureau of investigation that shows no trace of alcohol or drugs in the drives system. Reporter im reed binion reporting. Not everyone is happy about a billboard ad in sacramento county. Santa is sell ammunition holding an ar15 rifle. But one child psychologist says that the image could send the wrong message to children who view santa as a hero. Its going to generate interest in guns because they see this high status figure. The roads in marin county are so bad, county leaders are urging state lawmakers to help finance repairs before special session on transportation before that ends next week. A statewide assessment released last month rated marin county roads as below average. It also estimated that nearly half a billion dollars is needed over the next decade to maintain the current state of the roads. Plans are under way to transform the Petaluma River into a recreation area. Organizers want to build a small boat doctor replace an old decaying one at steamer landing park. Later today, we will see plenty of sunshine and we are drying out for really two days. Showers into the north bay friday. Chance of showers on friday. All of us should see rain on saturday thanks to this, a large area of low pressure well to our north. And well see some energy spinning around this area of low over the next few days. Thats going to bring us showers. Now this time around, different than in the last weather system we saw in that its not going to tap into as much moisture. We are going to see cold air associated with this system. Futurecast showing were staying dry and clear and cool today. Notice clouds staying to our north. Tomorrow those clouds fill in ahead of the system. We start to see a few scattered showers for the north bay. But notice futurecast saturday thats when we really start to see the rain. Its going to be showery in nature not heavy widespread rain but really pockets of rain throughout the day and i do think saturday is going to be a mostly wet day with some lingering showers on sunday. Overnight saturday into sunday we could see some low snow levels thanks to the cold air associated with this system. So north bay could see snow levels dropping to around 4500, 3500 feet in the hire elevations so a little white thanksgiving weekend for you if you will. Sunrise today 7 a. M.
