two beaks. according to gasbuddy.com a gallon of regular costs $2.91 in oakland and $3.09 in san francisco. kpix 5 reporter kiet do is live in san jose and the prices are about 80 cents less than this time last year and we're not complaining. >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. you know we're live here at the chevron just outside of the stadium and the prices are $2.89. that's if you pay with cash. and as you mentioned there the average price in san jose is $2.92 a gallon. basically looking at the new normal at least for the next couple of careers, all this with a worldwide glut of oil. oil analysts say we will stay oversupplied through at least 2016 and that the price will gradually drift upward over the next couple of years but gas prices will not go up until about 2017. part of the reason is that the saudis will take a financial hit if they reduce their production. also, iran also has a large supply of oil ready to be released and could be pumping as much as four million gallons of oil into the system once the sanctions are lifted. that means the national average right now is $2.29 a gallon. california's average is at $2.99. a bit higher because of that explosion at the refinery back in february. finally gas will fall another 50 cents by christmas analysts predict. that means the national average will be below $2 before the end of the year. we're live in san jose, kiet do, kpix 5. bring it on. okay thank you. former stanford swimmer charged with sexually assaulting a woman on campus set to appear in a palo alto courthouse later today for a preliminary hearing. 19-year-old brock turner was arrested back in january when deputies found him pinned down by two people after he allegedly assaulted a woman outside a frat house. the hot summer in wine country is kicking the grape harvest into high gear. >> kpix 5's maria medina with what this means for this year's vintage. >> reporter: this year the grapes are ready to be harvested more than a month earlier than normal. >> it's a cry s year. we're having a lot of fun with it. >> reporter: david page the owner of the winery in redwood city says not only is this the earliest harvest in the area, he says the grapes ripened all at once. >> so instead of having a staggered kind of set of fruit that would be ready over the next new weeks we had a big rush. >> reporter: but david says the vineyards and many others got hit hard by a cold snap in may. instead of producing 60,000 wine bottles, likely get 40,000 out of this year's harvest. >> go over to santa cruz and on the vineyards they were junina? >> the san mateo bridge just show you in just a second but right now we are seeing a few more cars at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see a few cars there getting in across the -- pass there as you work area way into san francisco. the good news is we sadlies in the cash lanes a half hour ago but that's pretty much dissipated. your approaches to the bay bridge look pretty good as well. 19 minutes westbound 80 carquinez bridge to the maze. northbound 880 if you are going to the maze so far traffic is pretty clear. southbound 880, not seeing any trouble spots out of oakland and hayward and san leandro. fremont everything looks good there in both directions. now the san mateo bridge is a pretty nice drive right now. westbound92, only a 13 minute ride. they have an accident involving a big rig right before the toll plaza. but the peninsula right now. northbound 101, we saw a lot of green on the sensors right now so not seeing any delays. however, there are a couple of spots where we have reports of debris in lanes and 101 at shoreline and in both directions on the south and northbound side. there is debris. vehicles have been hitting that debris and you have a lot of activity on the right side of the roadway in both directions. do plan for that. 2080 is great. at least to 680 about a 16 minute ride or 18 minutes rather and you are going to see delays out of tracy. got some red there on the sensors, some speeds dipping pretty slowly under 25 miles per hour westbound out of tracy on the westbound side of 58 #. once you get to the dublin interchange traffic looks like this. no delays to report. looks like traffic is nice on 680 as well as in both directions through walnut creek and eastbound 580 not seeing any trouble spots and a live look at the golden gate bridge as promised. traffic looks good and no delays there a little foggy though along highway 1 in pacifica. do remember that. all right, here's the forecast, here's roberta. 15 minutes after you so much for those reports. right now as we take a look out the door, we see that the very tiptop of the transamerica pyramid is just shrouded in a deck of lowering low clouds and areas of bill of lading. it's in the -- patchy fog. it's in the 50s and 60s out the door and here's what you need to know on this monday back to workday. we have the fog and low clouds and see some high clouds overhead today and really should say it's partly cloudy and then no big changes through midweek. here's the stream of clouds drifting in off the pacific ocean out towards central california and also the bay area. this area of low pressure from the north has been seeping down in a southerly direction and it's enhancing our marine layer so we've got a couple of different things going on. first the marine layer and then the clouds on top of that. as a result of the area of low pressure is our temperatures will come down to about thursday. 90 sacramento and currently it's 71 degrees there. high 60s in monterey bay today. 77 on the south shore. we're currently 46 degrees there. our numbers stacking up like this. pretty much where they should be for this time of year, 70s to the east of the bay and 70s and 80s around the peninsula. and the far reaches of our inland areas my outside number today will be 87 degrees. and that's where we should be for this time of the year. going with slightly cooler conditions on tuesday. additional cooling takes place thursday and friday and got to tell you something guys. i can't remember the last time i've seen this on sunday, one computer model suggests that big cooldown, another computer model suggests a huge warmup. never seen them do that before. they totally do not agree. so we'll have to -- we'll have the watch that. yeah. >> all reporter: at the chabot space and science center, an overflow crowd of more than 500 patiently waits with telescopes and cameras for the sun to disappear so they can get a glimpse of a magical moon. >> it's pretty exciting. you don't get the chance to see something like this very often. >> reporter: it appears very large, 14% larger than normal. that's because in the oval shaped orbit of the moon around the earth, this is the closest it gets to earth. then there's the eclipse. the moon passed right behind earth essentially hiding in earth's shadow and changing colors. >> because of the refraction of light through the atmosphere of the earth, caused the red light to fill that shadow and it makes the moon look like a rusty red color. >> i've never seen it before. >> reporter: you've seen the moon. >> but i haven't seen it orange because it's -- been a long time, 33 years and i'm 8. almost 9. >> we saw it when we were kids. and then now he's seeing it and then i said to him and his brother, could take their kids when they grow up. >> last time they had this was 1982. the next time is 2033. >> hopefully i'll still be here but i don't know if i'm going to be looking at it. >> i'm feeling good. >> how you doing? >> 40,000 people in san jose running the streets. and the high temperature yesterday was 81 in san jose. today just a couple of degrees cooler throughout most of our locations. this is the scene looking out towards san jose. under mostly cloudy skies. the winds are nonexistent, that's why we have areas of low clouds and fog stacked up next to the coast. and surging into the bay. mostly cloudy right now in livermore at 62. after a high yesterday of 92. so we have the deck of low clouds and fog, then we have these mid and high level clouds streaming overhead. we'll refer to it as partly cloudy today. number-wise, 60s beaches and 60s and 70s across the bay the 80 degrees in fremont and 87- degrees in livermore. your extended forecast, not a rain drop in sight. but at least we begin to cool down the temperatures somewhat and our inland areas. we'll talk more about that extended forecast but right now here's gianna. thanks roberta. let's head down to the peninsula. 101 reports of a big rig accident where the big rig actually lost its trilinear lanes and now blocking the -- trailer? lanes and now blocking the two light ryan sweeney -- in lanes and now blocking the two right lanes. we have a line of yellow there on the sensors and speeds dipping under about 30 miles per hour in that section of 101. east 280 as an alternate in the meantime. northbound 101 through san jose so far no major delays as you go through there. northbound 87 also clear. altamont pass you have a lot of brake lights westbound out of tracy. to the top of the altamont pass, eases up just a bit and stone stop and go conditions to 680 and the dublin interchange. westbound 580 right before 68 #. there are reports of an accident in the right shoulder and again 22 minutes now from westbound 280 altamont pass as you work your way towards the dublin interchange. bay bridge stacked up and millions millions are now on and -- metering lights are now on and we're seeing delays out of the maze. no delays out of the east shore freeway. frank?
