yamamoto. new at 11:00, long lines in santa rosa tonight as dave chapelle took center stage despite some vocal push back from the transgender community. >> reporter: the show went on as planned, despite online backlash over comedian dave chapelle's show here at the luther burbank center for the arts. you wouldn't know that there was any sign of controversy. looking at the lines of fans headed into the venue for chapelle's sold out show. it's one of four scheduled tuesday through thursday. >> diversity and inclusion is something everybody should take part in. >> reporter: it prompted activists to start this online petition and urged the venue to relocate his shows, stating that his rhetoric has dangerous consequences. more than 500 people vihave sigd it. >> i was upset the moment i heard he was coming to luther burbank. because they have very strong principles of inclusion. >> my role is to stand up and say that the community is hurting because of this. >> reporter: when they rented it out they didn't realize it would be for chapelle. in the end we determined it is not our role to censor, particularly from an organization renting our facility and one that provides diverse artists. this decision was not made lightly. >> i mean, i have to agree with dave on this one. for most things. but, you know, it's sensitive issue. dave is a, you know, part of being a comedian, at least his style, which ises also mine, iso be a little shocking, controversial. >> anywhere you go, you're going to hear things you don't agree with. it's just kind ufr the the world we're living in. an air quality advisory will be in effect because of alternaall the smoke. >> the oak fire is still producing plenty of smoke. and the winds in the mid-levels of the atmosphere, about a mile and a half, two miles up, still trying to blow that smoke to the bay area. it's most concentrated near the site of the fire. the winds, a couple miles up, are going to shift around a little bit, but still generally be out of the east. more smoke will be transported into the atmosphere over the bay area, not just tomorrow but continuing into thursday. but that smoke aloft isn't going to make its way down to ground level to any great degree. because the winds at ground level are onshore, keeping the fresh air from the pacific at ground level, keeping the smoke from settling down to the lowest levels of the atmosphere. there's going to be some smoke that gets pulled down by gravity and the onshore breeze may weaken enough at times to allow the air quality to deteriorate into the moderate category. i think that's worst it's going to get. not just tomorrow but through the rest of the workweek and even into the weekend. we're going to see another surge of monsoonal moisture that brings in the possibility of dry thunderstorms later this week. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. and encouragingn news where the oak fire has hardly grown at all since yesterday. the 18,000 acre blaze is now 26% contained with full containment expected this weekend. the fire has burned more than 50 structures to the ground, most of them homes. some evacuation orders have been downgraded to warnings. and highway 140 is open to yosemite. the pollock fire began this afternoon and is 5% contained tonight. oakland's brand-new fire marshal is honoring a long-standing family legacy. >> she's also breaking glass ceilings. >> reporter: meet feleicia sbr bryant. trailblazing just like her great-grandfather bill williams did when in 1920 he became one of the first black firefighters hired by we made oakland a bet ter place to live and people are happy wanting to live here. tonight there are new efforts along with a new reward to track down the suspects who shot and killed a uber driver in oakland. of two suspects ambushed him in his car. a $20,000 reward has been posted for any information leading to an arrest. the chamber of commerce also wants to help fund more police presence and cameras. they are looking to assign an officer to the little saigon neighborhood. and they want to add a local sub station to help address crime. nearly a million californians are facing possible long-term health problems because they received unsafe drinking water from a failing system, according to a blistering new report from the state auditor's office. as of late december the state water board identified high levels of nitrates, arsenic and e. coli in systems serving 920,000 people. health experts say exposure could increase the risk of liver and kidney disease and even cancer. more than two-thirds of the failing systems are located in remote, low-income communities. >> a number of these systems are located and concentrated in the central valley in the inland parts of southern california. 240 of these systems have been failing for three years or more. and 150 of those systems have basically been failing to provide safe drinking water for five years. >> the state water board argues the report doesn't tell the whole story, saying the agency has boosted funding by 80% to address the problem. the state auditor says it's not happening fast enough. tens of,00 thousands of spo
