>> i was waiting. you're just a [ bleep ]. that's fine. >> i'm a what? >> [ bleep ]. >> i'm not even black. >> it doesn't matter. your mentality. you're a [ bleep ]. >> okay. >> reporter: a woman named myra posted the video to her facebook page. >> the actions were reprehensible. >> reporter: that's how sfmta found out about it. >> we are taking immediate and corrective action in this case. this is behavior that's not representative of our overall workforce. >> reporter: the confrontation stretched on over a minute as the muni driver in a toyota corolla continued his verbal assault even as the woman tried to explain her side of the parking fight. >> sir, this is downtown. if you see a spot, you take it. >> oh, it's downtown? >> yeah. have a good day, okay? >> you're a gang banger. >> yeah. i see your mentality, too. >> reporter: as the woman tried to walk away, the muni driver started shouting? >> what was that? are you threatening me? >> no. >> well, i have your license plate and i have your face. so have a good day, sir. >> reporter: sfmta says this driver has been behind the wheel of the 28 line which run from the excelsior to the golden gate bridge for two years. mta says they train their drivers to deal with stressful situations on the road. >> this is something that goes beyond training. this goes into, you know, personal actions and behaviors that will not be tolerated by this agency. >> reporter: a representative for the drivers union said the union doesn't condone the driver's actions. being an african american man i am personally offended. now a short time ago kpix5 obtained a copy of an internal sfmta memo respecting that this driver be terminate -- recommending that this driver be terminated. live in san francisco tonight andria borba, kpix5. we have our first look at the man charged with murdering his aunt, a former san francisco public defender angelo zamora just 20 years old. he lived with long time attorney marla zamora who was found stabbed to death last week. the suspect is set to be arraigned tomorrow, still no word on a motive. in marin county this murder suspect broke down in tears during her preliminary hearing in san rafael today. 18-year-old leila alleygood is one of three drifters accused in two bay area murders. her co-defendant morrison lamply showed no emotion in court. the third defendant took a plea deal agreeing to he it against the other two suspects. audrey carey at golden gate park and steve carter on a trail near fairfax in october were killed. his widow testified about the last time she saw her late husband alive and the court broke for recess. the hearing will continue in september. the plane was seconds from taking off when all of a sudden out of nowhere another plane crosses right in front of it. the pilot slammed on the brakes. three bay area travelers told juliette goodrich what happened next in south korea. >> scared, i guess, so much. i was glad that we were home. what is going on ....what is going on > > the boeing 77 because it could have been a disaster, you know. >> reporter: gina and her friends lenny and mark stayman -- >> it was the third and last leg of our flight. >> reporter: -- were all on singapore airlines flight 16 headed home for san francisco when their plane was forced to abort takeoff. >> i estimate about 1/3 of the way through the takeoff roll the pilot hit the brakes hard. >> reporter: going 120 miles per hour on the runway at the international airport. >> what is going on? >> reporter: for the last year a panel of distinguished judges has been looking into this scandal at sfpd about racist text messages. tonight the public got it's first glimpse of the preliminary findings. se) in addition to the blurred lines betweee two, many believe that the's influence in and outside the department has been and rem an impediment to open dialoe and meaningful and sustained reforms to combat violence within the department. tra grees with the while dramatic city hall protests loudly demand the firing of the police chief, a much calmer group has been studying racial bias at the san francisco police department. >> bias policing complaints, there have been over 200 since 2012 and none have been sustained. >> reporter: groups of attorneys working pro bono for a blue ribbon panel called by the district attorney just released some preliminary findings, among them that the police department overwhelmingly arrested more black and brown people in san francisco than white. >> 47% of all arrests were blacks during 2009 through 2014. >> reporter: also that the department is not transparent when it comes to its disciplinary processes and then there's the police union, the poa. >> we find that the san francisco police department is insufficiently independent of the poa. in addition to the blurred lines between the two. many believe that the poa's influence inside and outside the department have been and remains an impediment to open dialogue. >> reporter: the poa disagrees with the findings. >> what i do not understand is why we cannot start off with removing the chief? [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: and the sanders campaign says they counted 15,000 people at this sacramento rally. he will sleep here tonight in sacramento before his rally tomorrow in stockton. steve large, kpix5. >> sanders is holding another rally tomorrow in stockton. tomorrow voters in west virginia head to the polls. sanders is expected to do well, but it won't be enough to move him much closer to the nomination. california lawmakers pushing to make all single stall public restrooms gender neutral. the assembly voted 15-18 in favor of the proposal. san francisco's democratic assemblyman phil ting is behind it. he said it aims to help transgender people as well as families. >> it's in certain situations where my daughter goes daddy, i got to go and you're running around like a crazy person to make sure you can get to the bathroom before something bad happens. this all comes as the justice department is suing north carolina and vice versa. h certificate. the new law there requires transgender people to use the restroom matching the sex on their birth certificate. the feds say that is discriminatory. crazy video tonight of a tornado tearing through the southwest. this is just one of the twisters to hit oklahoma today. tonight at least two people are dead. paul, the threat isn't over yet, though. >> it is not. still going on tonight, likely tomorrow. violent storms threaten more than 40 million people tonight, everybody from houston, texas, to sioux city, iowa. earlier those storms raced through the southern plains. at least three large tornadoes ripped through the oklahoma countryside, one of them a mile wide. the national weather service issued numerous tornado warnings telling those in the tornado's path to get underground, take cover, get in your basement. the same system produced tornadoes over the weekend in colorado, thankfully only minor injuries there, that severe weather system pushing east, our forecast coming up. a rainy winter not enough to spare us from a future of water rationing to some extent, governor brownish aweing this executive order to permanently continue -- brown issuing this executive order to permanently continue rationing restrictions saying drought conditions report. monthly reports from cities on water usage, we're looking at a been on hosing down -- a ban on hosing down your driveway and sidewalk as well as car washing unless your hose has a shutoff nozzle and no watering lawns within 48 hours of rain. next week the state waterboard may decide to give local communities more leeway to set limits until a revised state plan is in place. in millbrae homeowners are suing the city over raw sewage. they say when the city and plumbing company were out doing work on the sewers, they didn't connect the pipes right. residents believe that caused back flow in at least three homes during a rain storm. now they claim insurance companies won't cover the hundred of thousands of dollars in damage the sewage caused. the city and plumbing company were not available for comment. a muslim student at a southern california high school says that she's so traumatized she won't come back to finish her senior year. alked this is after her year book photo was labeled with the name isis. reporter brittany hopper talked to her tonight. >> you know those people, you're supposed to be proud to be one of them graduating with them and now i'm scared to even walk. >> reporter: this 17-year-old spoke out for the first time monday since this picture of her in her los osos high school year book had the wrong name. the name that was printed under her picture was isis phillips. she says this wasn't just a mistake and is wanting answers. >> i feel like a lot of people are looking up to me to find what happened and to see how to handle the situation, to stand up for the people that do get discriminated against. >> reporter: the school says there used to be a student with the name isis phillips who has since transferred schools, but the two don't look anything alike. this mom says all parents received a phone call from the principal apologizing over what had happened. >> i'm just leaving it up to the school district to handle appropriately to investigate to find out what really happened. >> year book class as a whole is once again sincerely apologetic that this could occur and so we have to look in to see if did somebody do this on purpose or not? >> reporter: brittany hopper, kpix5. tonight proof that garlic is gold in the golden arches, mcdonald's unveiled the gilroy garlic fries at four locations last week in the south bay, but the new menu item sold out in record time. in fact, customers gobbled up the breeze so quickly three already disappeared from the -- fries so quickly they've already disappeared from the menu. >> all sold out. >> reporter: how do you feel about that? >> sort of bummed, but we live right nearby, so we'll just come another day. >> not surprising, just seem like an obvious recipe, so popular at at&t and other locations. >> mcdonald's has a temporary shortage of supplies and says it may eventually offer garlic fries at all 250 of its restaurants in the bay area. lots of people are juicing these days because they think it's healthy. it's a multi billion dollar industry. before you take another sip you will want to see what cbs5's allen martin found out. >> reporter: in san francisco's trendiest neighborhoods, boutique juice bars have sprouted up everywhere. >> it's a cleanser. it's got lemonade, cayenne pepper and ginger. >> reporter: whether organic, raw or cold press, advocates claim with juices your body better absorbs nutrients. >> it's a really simple way to get a lot of the healthy things. >> reporter: but when pressed, some experts told us these claims about juicing are just too hard to swallow. >> there's no data. there's no data. >> reporter: dr. robert lustig of ucsf says with juicing there's no scientific ever you absorb nutrients more quickly and adds there's a bigger problem. >> in the case of juicing it's the loss of fiber. >> reporter: when we eat fiber from fruits and vegetables, it travels into our gut where it's then eaten by our good bacteria and that good bacteria helps to keep us healthy. >> fiber is the stealth nutrient. fiber is one of the single most important things we can put in our bodies and it's for our bacteria. >> research is showing that having enough good bacteria decreases your risk for heart disease and cancer, diabetes, even obesity. >> reporter: registered dietician sonia angeloni. she has another issue with juicing. some may contain too much sugar. >> usually the first ingredient is an apple juice which is just sugar. >> reporter: she says you have to juice a lot of fruit for a single cup and that those natural occurring sugar calories add up. 1 bottled juice containing about 60 grams of sugar. that's about a 1/4 cup. >> a lot of sugar. >> reporter: as for do it yourself juicing, i made a green juice drink. the recipe called for three apples, four stalks of celery, a bit of ginger, half a lemon, a large orange and spinach leaves. it was tasty but had 250 calories and 13 1/2 teaspoons of sugar and only about 2 grams of fiber. the vast majority of the fine, more than 30 grams, ended up here in the trash. lustig says without good fiber these excess juice sugars are stored as fat. >> if you're dumping the fiber in the waste basket, you're sort of missing the whole point. >> reporter: so while some fans love their juice -- >> we love juice. >> do the juice dance. >> reporter: -- experts say consider eating the real thing. >> if you consume food as nature intended it, then there's no problem. >> reporter: in san francisco allen martin, kpix5. >> pure vegetable juices are very low in calories and naturally occurring sugars. 80% of americans don't eat enough fruits and vegetables and drinking juice can help them meet their goals with the same important vitamins and minerals. check out what we spotted in the bay this afternoon. how beautiful is this?
