Interesting people, creative costumes in what is the biggest gay pride festival in north america, maybe the world. When there is a lot of people, there is a chance to make lots of money. Gay pride swept through the city like a rainbow colored fog with a stream of people here from just about everywhere. Im actually visiting. I didnt know gay pride was happening here this week, but it has been amazing. Reporter crowds of people with hoards of crash and vendors ready to snatch the money, but each selling hot dogs to the hungry didnt cut the mustard. Chris came all the way from la to make ends meet. I heard a lot of people were coming. Reporter face painters are eyeing quick cash, too, but by the time they pay fees to the city, it will take two days to turn a profit. The fee is very high in San Francisco. We are doing one face at a time. Reporter around a Million People came to San Francisco to celebrate at any cost. Begins on beal street, up market, and ends at civic center. It will be crowded and you can expect traffic delays so you might want to take public transportation. At least in restaurants and bars, a new law requiring food handlers to wear gloves was supposed to take effect in just a few days. It was intended to prevent disease transmissions but many vendors worried it would slow down the food preparation process and discourage people from washing their happens. Just sitting in the chair. And i heard that explosion and the whole house. And i saw a flame at the end of the street. No one was hurt in the fire, but 17 people were displaced. Investigators think butane tanks caused the explosions but they are still not sure what or who triggered them. City leaders in newark want to shut down a motel they say is a hot bed of crime. The easy 8 has been a scene of gang murders, prostitution, drug sales. Police arrested 760 people in five years and took 2400 calls for help from the motel. They say the easy 8 owners have tailed to implement security measures. Now the motel owners deny all that. The citys Planning Commission is considering revoking the motels permit. A bus full of immigrants is headed from texas to california tonight. None of them, though, are expected to be children who crossed the border on their own. There are parts of the state where the birds just appear to be disappearing altogether. Reporter niece is now catching the birds so he can tag them and track their movements. He believes the birds Natural Habitats are being turned into farmlands an vineyards which rely on pesticides that kill off the insects the birds feast on. If they do not have enough insects, they cannot form eggs. Reporter so he is trying to convince growers to give up pesticides. In the organic rice fields, the blackbirds are able to collect insect larva to feed their young. They could act as natural insecticide if we could reproduce this set of circumstances in enough places in california, i think the species has a future here.
