you talked with iowans back then, as i did, they would have told you we probably weren't up to the task. after three tries it's fair to ask if they weren't right. turnout is still low. confusion and frustration continue. those problems could be addressed with a primary, but though we've flirted with the idea, our lawmakers have been reluctant. if we want the national attention to continue and it's likely we do, we may have to take another look at that alternative. because with reid and his influence exiting the scene. a caucus culture in nevada still a work in progress, it's likely the national parties could be taking a long hard look at our early spot on the calendar. and it's not hard to conclude it's at risk. ed pearce kolo 8 news now. this morning, senate majority leader mitch mcconnell said the senate, will not hold hearings or vote on president obama's pick for the supreme court. republicans on the senate judiciary committee-- even wrote a letter, vowing to forgo any hearings on the white house's selection. mcconnell said leave the next supreme court selection, to the next president. "presidents have a right to nominate, just as the senate has its constitutional right to provide or withhold consent. in this case, the senate will withhold it. " "i think it will be very difficult for mr. mcconnell to explain how if the public concludes that this person is very well qualified that the senate should stand in the way simply for political reasons." a familiar face is rumored, to be a potential nominee. that's right-- governor brian sandoval. senate minority leader harry reid says he's met with sandoval, and thinks he would make a good supreme court justice. "you know i don't- i don't pick the justices. but i know if he were picked, i would support the man. he's a good person, he has a great record, and he's been a tremendously good problems there." reid says-- he believes president obama will make an announcement, possibly in the next two weeks. reid also said-- he's endorsing hillary clinton for president. reno police officers are on scene at hunter lake and foster drive. they are looking for two suspects in a home invasion. the suspects are described as two light skinned black men. witnesses say there were workers in the area of the home who saw a man come out of the house with blood dripping from his head. we don't know if the suspects are still inside a home on foster drive. stay with kolo 8 news now as we continue to story. for most pet lovers, it's a heartbreaking decision to give up a pet. face, if you abandon a for news while you're newscast partner, for themselves. two dogs were found abandoned at the hidden valley dog park yesterday morning, with a basket of food and blankets. while animal control was able to take them in and contact the owner... it is illegal to abandon an animal. you can face fines up to 400-dollars, or even jail time. woman: it's a gated area fenced in area, but a coyote could jump the fence. these dogs were subjected to coyote bait basically. the nevada humane society offers resources to help. an animal and it's willing to work with people, who have financial obligations. ### some analysts predict the drone business-- could be an 80-billion dollar industry by 20-25. to help students learn the basics of the drone industry t-m-c-c has moved its drone courses into a new lab at the applied technology center on edison way. students learn drone ethics, how to fix them and how to fly them. the college's goal is to prepare students to be competitive in a growing field that has projecting one hundred thousand jobs by 20-25. mark sharp, instructor, tmcc, "so when they do complete this course they are ready to go, go fly for whoever might be ready to hire them." t-m-c-c needs students for its drone courses. the next course, is march have been named the best in the nation. only 1-point-8 percent of nevada's roughly 19- hundred public bridges need repair. compare that to the national average, which is 9-point-6 percent. the nevada department of transportation, inspects all bridges in the state of nevada. they're inspected every two years. ### a local baseball player is in his first season with the wolf pack. plus... wolf pack first round bye at the conference tournament. the pack will take on utah state, a team nevada beat in logan back in january... that game was part of a five-game losing streak for the aggies... but they've been much better the last few weeks... with wins over both new mexico and colorado state... two teams that beat nevada this season.... they're coming off a loss at fresno state... a game that could have gone either way musselman: "even in the loss against fresno that had stretches where they played really, really well. they really score the ball and shoot the ball. and at times those are teams that have given us the most trouble. so we have to figure out a way to score defense you play they are able to put points on the board.
