a half he ran through the transbay tube. viewer daniel turner tweeted these pictures. trains had to move slowly in manual mode while police searched for him. after more than an hour, they tracked him down and removed him. two crashes on the bay bridge a crawl for thousand of commuters tonight. a truck overturned west of treasure island at 5:30. injuring one person. same time, a crash in the eastern span blocked several lanes. look at this, drivers are backed up, both accidents were cleaned up after an hour or so. >> tonight a bay area woman is in jail for mail theft and the police say the crime was easy. she was in illegal possession of a master key allowing her to unlock mailboxes across the bay area. we have new details. >> reporter: dan, pleolice don' know how she got the maste key, and now they are trying to return stolen mail to the owners. this is a parking lot where the police arrested the 45-year-old woman after she first parked illegally in a handicapped space. police later found she was high on drugs. methamphetamine was found in her car and that was not all. >> we located several articles of mail that does not belong to her. >> reporter: mail from the south and east bay. >> and we found what we believe is a master key to a post office box and in addition to homemade keys inside the vehicle that were possibly used to open up mailboxes. >> reporter: master keys can open communitymailboxes like this one found in neighborhoods across the bay area. that is how it's believed she got more than a dozen pieces of mail. >> the arrest and the recovery of the key will hopefully help stem some of the mail theft that we have been experiencing in the area. >> reporter: last september, two thieves were caught on tape breaking in to a building in san francisco and used a stolen or counterfeit key to get in the mailboxes. >> it happened to me a little while ago. >> reporter: this man was a victim of mail theft and fearing his identity is at risk. >> i have had it happen to friends and i know it's a nightmare to get it undone. >> reporter: police don't know how she got ahold of the keys. the u.s. po-- the postal servic is investigating. >> happening now, released details of a suspect or the condition of the victim. a pot left unattended on a stove started a fire that destroyed a home in san leandro today. this is instagram video, it shows the firefighters trying to put out of the fire inside the kitchen of the two-story apartment on 164th street. again in san leandro. they kept the damage to just one unit. two adults and one child made it container of marijuana in your car. state senator jerry hill of san matteo said that is not good enough. >> it did not say anything if you were driving and smoking a joint while you are driving or ingesting a brownie at the same time. >> reporter: center hill and assemblyman kevin lowe have introduced senate bill 65 that would close that loophole. >> it now is consistent with alcohol use in a vehicle be consistent in the sense that if you drive a vehicle and you have a marijuana cigarette, it will be a infraction or misdemeanor. >> reporter: we were told it sounded like a good idea. >> marijuana does impair your driving and abilities. having it be different than drinking alcohol behind the wheel does not make sense. >> if we were to for example, allow you to smoke marijuana and not drink alcohol, it would diminish the ability of the public to accept it. >> reporter: smoking president or drinking alcohol while driving is different than being impaired which is always illegal, but there's not the equivalent of a breathalyzer for marijuana and that is a different issue. tonight, we have a first look at the 14-year-old san jose boy killed in a christmas day car crash. he was in a car with his parents when it was hit by a suspected drunk driver. this provided to us by the family. the high school freshman died at the hospital after being rushed to the er. the family said, while we grieve this loss to the family, we celebrate the immenace joy that he offered to those he came in contact with. now, the suspected dui driver in the other car, also died. she has been identified as 25-year-old jessica zamora, she was wanted on a no bail warrant for a previous dui arrest. >> tonight, actress debbie reynolds received a special sendoff at one of the places she helped to make famous. they dimd their lights in her honor and her palm prints are out front in the cement, we know she will have a small joint service with her daughter, carrie fisher. this drawing was tweeted of crowd at times square. there's no specifi threat but the city is not taking chances. and 65 sand trucks will be parked on streets around the celebration, making it impossible for anyone to drive in to is right and as we close out 2016, we may bring in a few showers and the big chill. let's show you the new year's forecast, mostly cloudy at noon. we are looking at temperatures in the 40s, 50s and clouds will be decreasing as the night goes on. and it will clear out in time for midnight. your new year's eve will be a chilly one. mid 30s to the low 40s if you are going to outdoor celebrations grab your jacket or coat before you go out if you are sitting at home and watching the station, enjoy from the comfort of your home. you see all the cloud cover and that is what is helping to keep us ins lated. fog is reducing the visibility to three miles so watch out for the morning commute. this is something that you have not seen in a while. most of you in the 40s and 50s tonight, well above freezing. that is where you will stay. a clear view of san francisco, a few showers are posble saturday morning. chilly new year's eve and new year's day, and shower chances and freezing conditions coming in next week. tomorrow morning, everyone is above freezing. mid 30s to the mid 40s. you will see high clouds around and the patchy fog. for your afternoon, just like today, you will see plenty of sun with a few high clouds. storm impact scale is coming in for saturday. it's a light system. saturday morning, we are expecting a few light showers. less than a .10 of an inch if we get anything and there's a potential for mixed precipitation over the peaks. here is a look at the hour by hour forecast. notice greens, just dotting the bay area, spotty showers are possible at 7:00 a.m. this is what i do want to draw your attention to. mt. hamilton is showing blue there, indicating snow and the pink is a mix of rain and snow. so, don't be surprised if you life in the south bay area and you look up and you see a dusting of snow. spotty showers will continue through the late morning hours and by afternoon, all of that is gone. so your new year's eve plans are fine. if you are traveling up to tahoe for new year's eve, tomorrow is a good day to go. partly cloudy skies and snow showers on saturday. and possibly snow in to sunday. snow will be at low levels, but it's not going to be terribly windy. we have a one on the storm impact scale. we are expecting cold scattered showers, less than a quarter of an inch, dropping to 1,000 foot level by tuesday. here is why, arctic air will plunge south, driving the temperatures down, so it will be bone chilling cold. the cold where you feel your knuckles cracking. you need the extra moisturizer and you will need the winter clothing. tuesday morning. look at the temperatures. frigid, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 20s. on wednesday, it's a widespread freeze. bring in your frost sensitive plants and on thursday, early morning that chill continues. we will not be out of it for a while. it will be worse before it gets better. here is the hour by hour forecast. a few showers developing as we head in to tuesday
