This comes after teenager climbed an airport fence and stowed away to hawaii in the wheel well of a jumbo jet last april. San mateo county has just confirmed the third case of measles. There are now 92 cases state wide. Health officials in marin county confirmed 2 new cases today. These are marin county first measles cases since 2001. Laura has more from san rafael. I think theres a heightened concern right now in and out our community. The concern comes from the fact that marin county now has 2 confirmed cases of measles. They are School Age Children siblings. But the county is not requiring unvaccinated students to stay home from school for the required 21 days. To dress that concern Marin County Public Health officer dr. Matt willis released this statement. The children had been exposed outside of marinas part of the disneyland outbreak. Not in contact with any children at the school. County education officials are urging parents who have not vaccinated their kid to do it now. Marin county has high rate of kindergartner about 6. 5 percent who are not immune ides. Our message has always been if its medically safe we urge family to do that. But that is their choice to immunize or not their choice to immunize or not.
