In just a few moments the western span of the bay bridge will take on a whole new look. You are looking live right now at the bridge and the debut of its spectacular new lights after several weeks of testing the 25,000 lights that will embellish 1. 8 miles of the bridge will make it the largest led light sculpture in the world. All the restaurants along the waterfront book for tonight event. 25,000 lights will pulse and shimer in nonrepeating pattern controlled by software. The software interprets the energy in motion of waves clouds fog and fish even the cars and trucks that are driving there on the bridge. Now the lights are on the outside of the structure so they are not will not distract them. 6 million contractors in private funds paid for the display that will run for two years once this gets under way. Now we have see the lights tested in pattern over the past several weeks as the artist and those working with him have manageed to get the lights on and the test pattern have been amazing. So we are expecting the later to come on any moment now. And you will see them behind us. They told us 9 00 oclock straight up and its now 9 01 10 so they are running jaws wee bit behind schedule but the embarcadero packed this evening as people wait to see the lights turn on here on the bridge. Most of it not heavy although we pick up lots of moisture in the radar sweep up in the atmosphere but most likes are reporting only light rain on the ground and moving down on the peninsula right now parts of San Francisco loop radar image and sweeping in from the west eastward starting to mav south ward a bit as well. So most of the rain so far has been confined to the north bay but as i pointed out we now begin to get late rain in San Francisco. Parts of the pens will and seem to be a batch of heavier steady rain offshore which is likely to move in land any minute now. Meanwhile we have winter storm warning in effect until tomorrow nature at 10 00 oclock for much of the central sierra northern sierra and mountains of northern california. Many locations can see up to continue inches of snow or more from this storm with strong gusty winds up around 70 miles an hour and white out conditions. Police have shot man in the Bay View District after pursuit. They corner the suspect in stolen car at ingle street and orange court 7 30 this evening. Police say the man back the car into an officer other officers then open fire hitting the driver in the upper body that driver has been taken to the hospital and item now investigators are collecting evidence at the scene. Hayward police day confirmed 19yearold passenger in a car was shot twice early sunday morning and died of gunshot wound. All began when officers say the driver of that car slammed into Police Cruiser during a traffic stop and then took off. That driver 23yearold arthur pacman of oakley has been arrested. Registered sex offender arrested in san jose early this morning after he broke into a woman home while she slept. Police say had he a smart phone and was using an app that allowed had time listen to Police Scanner on the phone. Police say the woman who woke found 29yearold ryan watching her in bed. She screamed. He ran away. She then called 911. Police were in the area and they tracked him down right away. On probation for burglary. He was wearing an ankle bracelet to track the moves at the time. Very public Domestic Violence case back in court today. This time before the state supreme court. Lower court overturned the Second Degree murder verdict of man who killed his girlfriend in front of her children and now the victims family hopes the state highest court will financially bring them justice. In 2000 he murdered his ex girlfriend clare joyce in front of her children. This outraged those in the Domestic Violence community because beltran had a documented history of Domestic Violence against her and was on probation. But beltran had already fled to mexico. He was eventually caught and later tried. He was found guilty of Second Degree murder. Liz was the prosecutor. It gave the family klovrnlt its what we believe was just based on the evidence. Reporter but beltran conviction was overturned by a state appeals court. His attorney had argued beltran was provoked by the victim when she told him she was pregnant and had had an abortion. Because this sent him over the edge, his attorney claims it should have been manslaughter and not murder. They are asking for the another trail. He remains in custody. His attorney did not werent to comment. Professor of little with is Hastings College of the law. We should have got an instruction that was correct on manslaughter and the argument here is instruction he got went right. Reporter now the California Supreme Court must decide if the original conviction should be upheld. It doesnt matter what instruction he got. Right or wrong. The evidence was overwhelm that go it was sec degree murder and we shouldnt reverse the conviction. I think it send a message that Domestic Violence in itself is not a serious or that there may be provocation from certain things that victim could say that would somehow make her death more understandable and certainly we find that concerning. City of berkeley is considering taking a different approach in dealing with drivers who violent parking restrictions at businesses under the plan Property Owners would be allowed to site vehicle effort to discourage drivers from parking in spaces reserved for specific business an not having the people who park there go that the businesses.
