video showing how they targeted and fratranquiliz. melanie woodrow watched the whole thing happen. >> fish and wildlife ee physicians say it took two darts to tranquilize the mountain lie on. >> my roommate called me and said there's a mountain lion prowling around. >> police monitored the lion from the ground and from this rooftop with guns drawn. >> it's crazy right now. >> officers let residents know to keep the area clear. at one point this afternoon, even creating a roadblock on diamond heights boulevard. >> more like something you'd see in the sierras than san francisco. >> which may be why the lion wandered her. >> the lieutenant fired both darts. he says the lion would not have been able to find his way back into a wildlife dore dore on his own. >> it went well. he was not injured. >> the lieutenant says it's normal for an animal to twitch from the medication. it's to reduce stimulation and keep the lion's eyes from drying out due to blinking. the puma project will put a radio collar on him to track and monitor him. >> they've heard from crystal springs area to do a release. >> they don't know if the lion captured earlier this week is the same lion they tranquilized today. in san francisco, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. now, the mountain lion was taken to the crystal springs area on the peninsula. it walked away with an ear tag and a gps tracking device that will be monitored by the uc santa cruz puma project. they'll keep tabs on it. if you have the abc 7 news app, you received a push alert this afternoon about the mountain lion sighting. click on the alerts posted pictures and video minutes after a mercedes slammed into a gas pump at the chevron station near pe knoll road. >> the driver got out amazingly and thankfully was not hurt. gas station employees hit the emergency shutoff valve to prevent further damage. all right. let's turn to the weather now. there were showers off and on much of the day. most of it have moved east. so are we in the clear for a while? abc 7 news meteorologist sandhya patel is here. >> that's the burning question. yes, we're getting a break from the rain. believe it or not, it will last at least through tomorrow. live doppler 7. we have a few leftover clouds. in the sierra, it's turning to snow. they're reporting rain. take a look at a live picture from tahoe where you see snow on the ground. it was not from the recent storm. 24-hour rain totals like like this. just under half an inch at the airport. 500 san jose. oakland, tenth of an inch. storm impact scale, level one. over the next seven days, two more systems coming. one is sunday and the second one is on wednesday. i'll time it all out for you. i'll let you know also if this wet weather is going to impact your weekend plans. dan? >> sandhya thanks very much. new surveillance video of a fifth man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex linked to a brothel operation. in late september, he was killed at the elon village apartments in san jose. on the left there, wearing the varsity jacket, he's described as being between 25 and 30. about 160 pounds with a shaved head. he was last seen wearing a blue and tan varsity-type jacket, as police arrested four other men from southern california. this latest arrest came on monday. the los angeles county sheriff's department arrested one man from chino. the police chief of marysville resigned. former police chief aaron easton is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault that happened in 2008. the newspaper says a woman made the allegations last year while she was an inmate at the sacramento county jail. easton denies the accusations. oakland police and the chp will put extra officers on duty tomorrow to put the brakes they hope o n a veterans day sideshow. our media partners report the sideshow is being organized on social media. two weeks ago abc 7 news was at a hotel near oakland international airport as police seized five motorcycles and made arrests. these impounds after a sideshow on interstate 880 involving about 200 bikers. the chp arrested five people. investigators could not cop firm the impounds were connected to the sideshow. and a viewer took the video of this in downtown hayward. the extra officers will be in cars, motorcycles and police helicopter as well. taking part in a sideshow is illegal and your vehicle may be towed and impounded for up to 30 days for any such activity. let's move on. in sonoma county, they're measuring the toll of the wildfires not just in lost lives and property, which is terrible. but missing pets. dogs, birds, fish, especilly cats. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman has more from santa rosa. >> if you like cats, you would love the sonoma humane society right now. the place is overflowing with them. enough cats to fill a library of dr. seuss books. these are not happy stories. >> if you're a cat, what are you thinking? >> that it hurts. >> dr. katherine menard performing yet another examination on a post fire found stray. these are the victims of the north bay fires we have not focused on. as of today, some 800 people had filed missing pet reports and the majority of them are for cats. >> it's a statistical fact that during the fire, five times as many cats were lost as dogs. the reason is simple. in times of stress, dogs run to their owners. cats, they tend to hide. >> many people fled with their dogs. they're much easier to capture and get into a car. whereas the cats hide or were outside. many did not escape with their cats. >> they had roughly 200 cats and returned roughly 70 of them. in almost every case, the returned cats had microchips. sometimes even that doesn't work. case in point, joey. >> that's him cuddling with wendy willie. they know joey's name because it's on a chip. but his owners never updated the rest of his information. >> he's a great guy. it seems like he has a home somewhere. >> on my lap. >> if no one claims the animals, the shelter will put them up for adoption with one proviso. >> if an owner comes forward, we'll see if they allow them to go back to the previous owner. >> for cats, for people, there's no place like >> tonight, louis c.k.'s startling response to the allegations. i want to address the stories told to the new york times by five women named abby, rebecca, dana, julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not. the comedian admitting these stories are true. at the time i said to myself that what i did was okay. but what i learned later in life too late is that the power i had over these women is that they admired me. and i wielded that power irresponsibly. i have been remorseful of my actions and tried to learn from them and run from them. i learned yesterday the extent to which i second down day in a row. that hasn't happened in a month. the nasdaq and s&p were relatively flat. well, flew over the oakland army base today as you can see there. which is now one step closer to redevelopment. it's been nearly 20 years since it shut down. abc 7 news anchor eric thomas shows how plans for the future could bring hundreds of badly needed jobs. >> for nearly 60 years millions of tons of cargo moved through to millions of army bases since the army moved out in 1999 it's been empty and quietly decaying until now. >> it's 20 years in the making. now it's actually happening. >> john driscoll is maritime director in oakland. he guided me through the redevelopment plan that's already received initial approval from port commissioners. it involves construction of a building of a logistics facility. >> it's going to be a 440,000 square foot building. it will be theargest structure in the port of oakland for warehousing capacity. >> tenants will be companies that transfer cargo between ships, trucks and trains. the project would be managed by chicago-based center point properties. >> the entire oakland army base property covers almost 370 acres. half of the control by the city of oakland, the other half by the port. this is just phase one of the port's redevelopment plan. >> it's going to create jobs. it's going to create good jobs. we hope to have union jobs, jobs able to be sustainable and allow families for the employees to maintain a family in a comfortable environment. >> it took 20 months to negotiate the deal which still needs another approval vote from the port before contracts can be signed in january and work can begin in the spring. there are critics who worry about more air and noise pollution from trucks going in and out. the port is hoping neighbors give the project a chance. >> there's a lot of history on the site and potential on the site but we view this as really a significant future development for the port and for the residents of oakland for sure. >> in oakland, eric thomas, abc 7 news. >> this weekend, cal trans will bring down the final remaining piers of the span of the bay bridge. traffic will be briefly stopped. no traffic allowed on the bay bridge during the blasting period expected to start around 9:30 tomorrow morning. some pretty amazing cal trans video from two weeks when three piers were imploded. cal trans is finishing the work a year ahead of schedule which will save taxpayers nearly $10 million. on to the forecast. meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking more rain. sandhya a dry spell at the helping that lost everything, the least we could do. we felt like after going up there and seeing it, we wanted to do something. this is a way that everyone can give back. >> the bikes will be delivered tomorrow between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the sonoma county sler i have's office in sanan rosa. the senate candidate under fire. judge roy moore answers allegations involving a then 14-year-old girl. how california is trying to protect a woman's right to have access to birth control. no need to wait for black friday deals this year. some of them are already good evening once again. we'll begin with the senate candidate from alabama answering questions after being accused of initiating a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl. roy moore known as the ten commandments judge and defender of strict conservative values is defending himself. here's abc news reporter tom llam llamas. he built his political career -- arbiter of right and wrong. >> crime, corruption, immorality. abortion, sodomy, sexual perversion sweep our land. >> former judge roy moore speaking out against claims that he himself was a sexual predator. >> these allegations are completely false and misleading. >> moore, the republican senate candidate from alabama is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl when he was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. now 53, telling the "washington post," moore took her to his home, took off her shirt and pants and touch her over her bra and underpants she says and guided his hand to touch her over her underwear. today with sean hannity, he denied it. >> i don't know her from anybody. i never heard talk to her or had contact with her. allegation of sexual misconduct was competely false. i believe politically motivated. >> there are parts that he did not deny. the accounts of three other women who asked them out or dated them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his 30s. >> moore says he does not remember. >> would it be unusual for you as a 32-year-old guy to have dated a woman as young as 17? that would be a 15-year difference or a girl 18. do you remember dating girls that young at that time? >> not generally, no: if i did, i don't remember anything like that. >> he added this. >> i don't remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother. >> more defiant saying he's not going to drop out of the race. >> president believes we cannot allow a mere allegation in this case one from many years ago to destroy a person's life. however, the president also believes that if these allegations are true, judge moore will do the right thing and step aside. >> in alabama, some of moore's supporters defending the alleged behavior. alabama state auditor jim ziegler saying take joseph sand mary. joseph was an adult carpenter. they were parents of jesus. in rainbow city, republican voters were divided as well. >> a republican had a -- if they are true, would that change your vote? >> absolutely. absolutely. >> i don't know what i'm going to do. >> if he really did this, then i wouldn't vote for him. >> but i'm going to wait and see what happens here. i think they should get the lie detector test out and find out what's going on. >> tonight, two more republican senators pulled their endorsement from roy moore. we also know that the fundraising arm of the senate republicans has pulled out of an agreement with the moore campaign and tonight "the new york times" reporting that republicans are pressuring the governor and the state to move the election date so they have more time to get moore out. tom llamas, abc news, birmingham. a new poll out tonight shows that moore and democrat doug jones are tied at 46%. house democrats are hoping they can win back a majority in the house after three more republicans announced their retirement this week. together, 29 republicans altogether decided not to seek reelection compared to only 11 democrats. the latest is house judiciary committee chairman bob good lat of virginia. his district will likely not flip to a democrat. president trump won his district by 25 points last year. so it seems relatively secure. republicans on capitol hill are now going full steam ahead with their tax reform plans with just 16 working days left before christmas. the house and senate have proposed their own versions and the goal is to merge the two bills into oney the end of the year. the centerpiece of both bills is tax cuts. but there are major differences in how those would be accomplished. >> corporate america is going to psee the senate bill as a lock. both add to the deficit, $1.5 trillion would be added to the deficit over ten years. there's a real concern about what that would mean for the overall economy in the long run. >> the house is expected to take a vote next week. the senate will begin debate on theirs in committee on monday. insurance commissioner dave jones is going to court to block the president's contraceptives rule. that would allow employers to deny women access to contraceptives under their health care plan. jones says the president's rule would deprive women of their rights and increasing the number of pregnancies and abortions. he'll use every resource at his disposal to fight the president's rule. >> there will be no formal meeting between president trump and val miles an hour putin at the asia-pacific cooperation summit in vietnam. the two shook hands as the leaders attending the meeting for a group photo began by attacking economic issues, specifically trade. he proclaimed that his administration will not tolerate trade abusers and that countries must follow the rules if they want to do business with the united states. >> we cannot achieve open markets if we do not ensure situation, livermore's wineries following the north bay fires. first the sonoma winery bottled a special wine to help the firefighters. woke up and looked to the east and saw the fire. the winds were so strong and the flames so intense. 2015. the department was celebrating our centennial. i thought it would be great that it could raise money for the firefighters association. to assist the firefighters and their families who lost their homes. a number of firefighters were injured in that fire. ♪ the moneys that wine raises go to fund scholarships, valor awards, maintain their antique stea during that first week, it seemed like the phone was ringing off the hook. >> the north bay's loss is becoming livermore's gain. at least for the time being. california is america's number one wine state as you know. while napa is world famous as a wine growing region, it's certainly not the only part of the state known for its grapes. abc 7 news reporter leslie brinkley visited areas to show them what's changed since the north bay wildfires. >> wineries in livermore report a 20% bump up in business. not just in the immediate aftermath of the fires but a sustained increase as a result of people being redirected here. >> i think there might be quite a change in just overall perception about this area as a result of something terrible. >> steve berman says their phone rang off the hook the first two weeks of the north bay fires with people substituting in livermore wineries for planned corporate and personal events. >> seems like an increase in traffic that's been steady. and in fact, it continues to increase. >> during the fires, cruise ships diverted passengers to livermore valley wine tours. >> i can tell you that the contractors that i worked with that do the excursions were very pleased. the biggest thing i heard from them was that this wine country event -- bent over backwards to help them. >> gray line tours is exploring, oh, this is a great option for us to be able to offer to our regular guests. i don't think it's a replacement of groups going to napa and sonoma. my conversations with the various tour groups that have reached out, it is in addition to napa and sonoma. >> i heard about livermore and what a great opportunity to check out a new area and the wineries are fantastic. >> with the new unexpected business opportunities for livermore, wineries say they're seeing more out of state tours along with northern california day trippers and they hope it continues. i'm leslie brinkley, abc 7 news. well, coming up, great ideas on least we don't have to deal with the arctic blast. parts of the midwest and the northeast are going to have to deal w look at the temperatures right now. it's 24 in minneapolis. they have record cold
