This morning, half a dozen residents of a group home, for those with Developmental Disabilities left the overnight shelter, at evergreen valley high school. Yesterday, police told them to leave as floodwaters enveloped their street. They left with little more than their medications. Last night it overflow. Over to the grass. Now everything is clear, we can go back home. This couple also found out their home was safe. The water came up, it was halfway in the parking lot. Ive been here 63 years and i havent seen anything like this. I would never saw the water as high as it was there. Keith was still here at the shelter. He lives in a unit of this apartment complex right next to coyote creek. Today the water receded from the parking lot, leaving a muddy trail. Yesterday thomas took no chances. He left quickly with his 2yearold son houston as the river spilled its banks. They found refuge here. The red cross had little time to prepare for mandatory evacuations. We quickly got out a lot more cots, started arranging for food, all the things it takes to have a shelter. The donations keep coming. Marysol brought her 6 children. We have blankets and toys. Socks and baby clothes. There were others with generous hearts to volunteer. Among them, three teachers im really curious about how my families are doing, i want to make sure were there for them to support them in person and financially. California Highway Patrol investigators were on the scene of the accident where mike foley was hit by a coworker who was driving a prison bus. The accident happened in the transportation parking lot near the santa rita jail. Both were starting their ships. He was conscious at the parking lot, and was treated by paramedics who responded to the scene. And provided immediate medical care. Foleys seen here in a 2006 abc 7 interview. Police say a 17yearold has confessed to the february 8th robbery in front of the Safeway Store on dakota road. A state of emergency has been declared there, and residents are being evacuated as clear lake overflows. The storms are taking their toll in lake county. Evacuations near clear lake are mandatory. People may not be able to go home until the middle of march. The flooded residents of lake port are in it for the long h l hall. I know its not going to go anywhere, but thats what i want more than anything. Clear lake is a foot and a half over flood stage and still rising. Its doing what clear lake does when we get too much water. Theres not enough theres more coming in than is going out. Local officials have evacuated their Emergency Centers to coordinate response efforts. Many of these people could be out of their homes for a very long time. What these folks are doing, is filling out a little extra paperwork, so we can connect them with case managers to help them goingforward. There are a lot of people out of their homes right now. The water is 3 to 4 feet above the street level. This lake is not like a creek. The water wont go down once the rain stops. It could stay this high for two weeks. Laura anthony, abc 7 news. One flooded highway is about to reopen after being closed for two weeks. It will be open by 5 00 a. M. Just in time for the morning commute. This system is rapping up. Another storm system sunday night is going to go right along the coast. A few on and off showers could be sunday night into monday morning. As we go through the weekend, its not too much rain. These numbers have been trending lower and lower, with each new piece of information we get in. If that trend continues, we could see the storm system kick out to sea. Right now were seeing most spots half an inch of rain probably a quarter inch, if that, with the storm system. We have had a population of animals that we suspect have been displaced because of fences down, the weather impacting them. Stacy danes is the shelter manager. This little kitty was in the river. Theres hope someone will recognize these eyes. Shes a stray, we dont know if she has an owner. This dog could also be a stray. Shelter employees arent sure, because the dog isnt micro chipped. Others have been. This is one dog right here that was displaced from the storm. Making for happy reunions. Utter relief. Theyre so relieved. The shelter is caring for dogs who may need a few days to get back on their feet. Larger animals like these horses have also been impacted by the flooding. San francisco is monitoring the situation involving approximately 28 horses. At some point there is a risk. If theyre not eating, not drinking enough water. Because the water is possibly contaminated, at some point youre going to worry about their health. The goal, to get them out safely without endangering the horses or the people rescuing them many.
