hour with breaking news we have heard here tonight. boxing legend civil rights icon mohammad ali has passed away. hospitalized in phoenix thursday with respiratory issues. family has been by his side >> stand off that lasted for hours in san francisco china town has ended with the suspect in custody. man was holed up for 5 hours in an apartment police say he broke in to near keys alley off pacific avenue in powell stree street. 6 police officers were hurt in the struggle to arrest him. here's vic lee. >> s.w.a.t. team members converge on the 900 block of pacific avenue in china town. to this retreat with the residents. they rushed over. those adjacent buildings were ordered to leave. others were told to shelter in place. the standoff continued into the fifth hour. crowds gather. >> really next door. officers chased him inside. workers in the salon ran out to safety. suspect would not go down easily. >> once the suspect went inside he violently fought with officers. he was covered in glass. and resisting by biting and spitting at of circumstances police said burglary was not injured but he was put in a gurney transported to the hospital. 6 officers did sustain injurie injuries. >> all non-life threatening injuries but in this incident officers were slashed by the glass and there was blood on blood contact between the suspect blood and officer bloo blood. >>reporter: all ended the way police wanted. no shots fired. vic lee abc 7 news. >> has been two days since the suspect shot two fremont police officers. today we learned one of those officers is doing better. the other remains in critical condition. suspect died early thursday morning after hiding in and out a house. we revisited the house to see how the neighbor is doing. >>reporter: this is what is left of the house on robert avenue in fremont where wednesday suspected gunman holds himself for hours after shooting two police officers. today the restoration crew board it up. neighbors struggle to return to
