The victim in this case was seen rolling around the street with a head injury but it turns out he was actually cut and it was not a bullet wound. Neighbors here tell me that a family of five was living in the unit at the time, a mom with her four kids ages 12 to 18 and get this, im finding out the woman is expecting her fifth baby. Shes pregnant actually, a horrible time to have to go through anything like this but thankfully nobody was injured in her family and shes able to stay with other family members who live here on of the other kids have minor smoke damage but other people are still speaking of the other apartments they told me some of the other residents can go in but there is some minor damage. It was a massive effort from mesa and gilbert fire. When we showed up this morning there were still at least a few dozen firefighters on scene trying to make sure they were putting the fire out as we arrived. I should also mention mesa fire mentioned they believe the water heater was the source of the whole thing. They arent sure what happened, if it overheated or what, but that is something they will have to determine throughout the course of the investigation. As we go into the afternoon the focus will be more storms across the higher terrain but the storm threat area is really for the entire states today or most of the state rather except for western arizona. Theres a slight chance we could see pop up storms areas like pinal county and also here in the phoenix metro so there is that 10 chance. As we go through the next few hours watch for storms to continue to fire along the along the rim in the notice by early evening a few of them could actually move off the higher terrain and closer to the scene phoenix metro especially our foothills locations and also down into pinal county east of casa grande, areas like florence and queen creek with that potential of picking up a shower or thunderstorm and we will also have to keep an eye on any potential of producing gustier winds that could kick up dust. So thats something we will watch up watched through the evening and then after sunset things really are quieting down across the valley and much of the state with just a few lingering pockets of showers in the high country. Tomorrow a similar set up where once we get into the daytime heating midday, the storms fire up again and they could move up into the phoenix metro. If we hit 110 today that would be day 30 of temperatures hitting 110 or above or High Temperatures rather this year so so far weve seen 29 days of temperatures at 110 or above, putting us right in third place for the most 110 days in a year days and again we are only four days away from that. Today could be day 30 so we will be watching that very closely through the afternoon and we will also keep an eye on the sky with a 10 chance between 2 00 and 6 00 that we could pick up a stray shower or thunderstorm and possibly areas of patchy, blowing dust as we go into the afternoon but the main impacts will be in the high country. You can see how quiet the desert doppler is that we are starting to get a few popups in Yavapai County and scattered and flagstaff are seeing newly formed storms in that area and we will continue to see those fill in around the mogollon rim.
