Just passing tempe so we argue fix it phoenix and heading towards that still i want to give you a look at what it looks like out here. You can see that it is very same caution low visibility drive safely. As we mentioned earlier we had to pull over to the side of the road because at that point disability was visibility was at zero or near zero and we had to get out of it. It looks like that storm has now passed is moving north into the phoenix and scottsdale area. We will be heading into that area. Right now i dont know if you can see but it looks like the dust it dusty or and affecting some visibility. We are taking every precaution to drive safely. We can show you as we are heading that way. What is the biggest challenge for drivers right are seeing low visibility especially in spots like South Phoenix as well as Downtown Phoenix. We also have some heavy rain for drivers in tempe loop 202 near stock scottsdale essene heavy rain. We want the drivers to avoid the roads for right now. Usually we say our highways are doing good but it can be very dangerous if you encounter the dust. Postpone and delay and if you are on the road take the next exit and sit down on the storm sit out its beautiful if you find a spot you can take a little time and watch the storm just stay inside. We are trying to advise people at that right now too. We also have the same saying pull aside stay alive. If you do get caught in the dust pull off the road as soon as you can. Do not wait until visibility is so bad it is difficult to pull emergency lane. It completely off the roadway. Turn off your lights including your emergency flashers. Do not put your foot on the brake you dont want other vehicles following you off the road. Set your emergency brake and sit in your car with your seatbelts on and wait for the storm to pass. Its a severe thunderstorm right now hitting tempe. They are under severe stunned thunderstorm warning and toss until 6 15. You can see it right by tempe marketplace. What we are seeing here is not only the threat for heavy rain but also very gusty winds that could cause some damage. This will be capable of kicking out wind gusts near 60 Miles Per Hour. Watch out for that in that area. 101 interchange and the Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for the area and so until 6 15. You can see that some this thunderstorm heading off to the north and northeast but you can see the greens and blacks arcing out. Watch the line that races out of sunlake, then chandler, mesa, scottsdale. The radar is picking it up at this hour. Its continuing to push farther to the north it is an scottsdale mail and looks like hills and then toward desert ridge marketplace in the next 20 to 30 minutes. We will keep a close eye on that in the meantime the western edge of this thing is starting to move into Downtown Phoenix and that will continue to spread out to the northwest as well as it continues to our out go thats what we will be watching over the next hour. The dust storm is in effect until 7 pm. Visibility in southern areas little bit as the dust storm pushes toward the north. We will see the entire phoenix metro under this dust just storm warning until 7 00. And we have a separate warning with this all began in effect until 6 pm. We have another hour or so while the dust storm races to the north. Lets get a look at where began. What im interested in seeing those with the winds is doing. Im seeing greens next to what i am looking at the wind and side of the storm it shows up rain and that means the wind is racing toward the radar. The radar is down in queen creek. Those winds are going down toward the radar to the southeast. The red areas winds are flowing away from the radar. Off to the northwest and when i see the two colors sandwich sidebyside that tells me that this storm is down bursting right now. Winds are racing out of the bottom of that storm they are spreading out. I have some winds going toward the storm and some going away. This is where we see damage at of severe storms. This is when the wind gusts and hit 60 Miles Per Hour and start downing trees and power lines. I need a producer or somebody to start looking at srp and aps kids i imagine we could start to see some Power Outages popup. We will have someone trucks out fo if we have power going out we will let you know about it. In the meantime the biggest threats are in tempe and South Scottsdale right near the 202 and 101 interchange. The severe thunderstorm is kicking out very heavy rain and really strong winds. As you mentioned before on the phone people are saying be safe out there pull over if you need to like we needed to earlier over on the 347 s. Heading toward maricopa where we got really bad visibility looks like the storm has rolled over us and we will continue tracking that. As soon as we have an update we will let you know. This dust storm is kind of oriented from the southwest off to the northeast. The dust is moving into Downtown Phoenix right now and that is exactly what i am seeing on abc15 desert doppler as well. The other thing i want to point out is a we have seen a few showers and thunderstorms develop on the backside and one this one is right inside loop 101 and to 202 out by tempe marketplace. This area under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6 15. That is also where we are seeing some very powerful winds gust out of the storm. As a look at the velocity scope you see red and greens sandwiched right next to each other. Those are the wind directions. When they are sandwiched right next to each other at the we are seeing a down bursting brain. That means winds are flowing hitting the ground and spreading equally out in all directions. Hence i have Different Directions be noted here. Thats why i said earlier we will have to watch that area in particular because there is a possibility we could be seen trees or power poles down in that area as winds gusts near 60 Miles Per Hour.
