We have a light wind as we go through the rest of the morning. Well see those temperatures warming up slowly as we keep the sunshine today, or definitely returning for much of the bay area. Heading towards 77 in hayward, 86 for novato. Cool temperatures near the coast. Hot for the inland valleys with fairfield reaching 95 degrees. Mike, you were looking at a crash in Contra Costa County. Contra costa county also where we typically see the first slowing i guess the very first is up in vallejo. Highway 4 beginning to build. Should be starting out of antioch. Not a major issue. Westbound highway 4, a crash around bailey road. Tracking for information on injuries. None reported. No slowing shows up. Ginger, what are Health Experts saying about the protection levels we can see now . Reporter well, laura, its the fourth booster at this point or fourth shot at this point, if it will roll out, then the higher level of protection people will say. They say its time to say goodbye to the term fully vaccinated after two shots. In a couple weeks it will be time to get boosted again even if youve gotten the third shot or were originally boosted, especially doing so before the fall and winter month which is when weve seen covid surges in recent years. What will this new booster do . Unlike the original vaccine or the first booster, the new booster targets subvariants ba. 4 and ba. 5 and the original strain of the virus. Ba. 5 now accounts for nearly 90 of covid cases in the country. This new booster will be available for everyone 12 years or older which is expected in a few weeks. Doctors say the virus has evolved substantially since the original vaccine was built, and thats why the fda pushed for new vaccines to be developed. The big picture bottom line is these are ub substantial upgrades in terms of the ability to prevent transmission and certainly serious illness. Those vaccines are coming very, very soon. Its going to be really important that people this fall and winter get the new shot. Its designed for the virus thats out there. Again, based on everything we zoo seen so far, all the data suggests it should be highly effective against the new variants. If you received your original booster or that third shot, you are el available for a second booster four months after receiving the first. It is important to note, dont expect this to be your last covid booster. It is expected to become more like a flu shot which is something thats updated every year. Alexis gabes exboyfriend Marshal Jones died when Seattle Police tried to arrest him in june. Family members say evidence points to jones mother as an accomplice in her death and the disposing of her body. Speed indicators have been shut off because all lanes were blocked for a short period of time. They should come back online saying one lane open, south 101 at moffitt boulevard. Another crash involving one smaller vehicle that has major damage to it, not hearing about the injuries, but theres going to be at least some activity with ambulances showing up just in case.
