It is another big blow for republicans and president trump. Senator mccain joined two republicans and democrats against the skinny repeal overnight. We have reaction from washington this morning. Reporter outside the u. S. Capitol, protesters cheerd the senate turning down a measure that would have repealed major parts of obamacare. The motion is not agreed to. All new this morning, an alarming new report that claims there is an uptick in rape cases in some San Francisco neighborhoods and police say it could be traced back to the night life scene. Reporter good morning to you, lauren and sam and according to this new report this morning in the San Francisco examiner, it lays out statistics that show roughly around 9 of the reported rapes in all of San Francisco year to date have occurred in this Marina District area. Now, of course, businesses in the area are saying not so fast, you dont want to put all the blame squarely on these businesses but i took a deep dive into the statistics on the San FranciscoPolice Department website to see the overall statistics for rape numbers in San Francisco. Now when i went on that website, its shows that in 2017, there were 223 reported rapes in all of San Francisco year to date. Now according to the San Francisco examiner, 20 rapes took place Marina District area, the area considered the northern station area for San FranciscoPolice Department which is marina to hayes valley as well as polk gulch and the fillmore area. Now in that article, it mentions that these cases are hard to prosecute with the Police Captain in this district saying that a number of the reported rape cases involve people who know one another. Industry insiders say they want to work with Law Enforcement. In fact in some cases installing security cameras at their place of business. In 2016, there were 224 reported cases of rape year to date in San Francisco. Those numbers similar to this year, but of course Law Enforcement says they want to work with local businesses in the area to raise awareness on this issue. Were live in San Francisco. All new news out of the trivalley where the search still on right now for one of the people who led chp on a chase that ended this morning in pleasanton, a Police Helicopter was used to look for one of the suspects inside of a stolen car coming out of San Francisco. That vehicle was spotted on eastbound 580 in dublin just before 3 00 this afternoon. One person was taken into custody when the car finally stopped. Also new this morning, authorities on the peninsula talking about a deadly stabbing near a popular park, but they say theres no risk to the public. San mateo county deputies sent us this image from the crime scene last night. It happened after two men got into a fight outside a home near Fernandez Park on main street in half moon bay. Officers arrived to find two men still fighting. The Department Later tweeted video explaining what happened. Residents, both males, had visible injuries. One of the males had a visible injury to his neck. And was bleeding heavily. The victim died from his injuries. The other two taken into custody. Now facing charges. New this morning, a large Human Trafficking operation has been busted in los angeles and this case has connections right here to the bay area. Three men have been arrested in Southern California and charged with Human Trafficking eight teenage girls for sex work. The victims were made to work as far north as San Francisco and as far east as texas. Those girls were between the ages of 15 and 17 years old. One of the parents of the victims hunted down the suspects, which eventually led to their arrests. New this morning, a woman dropped a 23 million lawsuit that was levelled against cal berkeley. That lawsuit was filed by a woman named kira robles. She was pepper sprayed on the campus in february during political protests against milo yiannopoulos. Her lawyer called this, quote, a tactical decision. We start out with drizzle right now and its 61 degrees, all clear as we look across the south bay, beautiful sunrise on this friday and its also mostly cloudy as we look live in San Francisco toward twin peaks, 57 degrees there. You might have to deal with the drizzle for a little while longer and then our temperatures reach into the low 90s for east san jose, gilroy will see a high of 94 degrees today, and 9 6 in livermore so really feeling the heat in some spots. While we will have a wide range in temperatures, oakland will see the high today up to 75 degrees, 61 in half moon bay, and san mateo up to 79 degrees. San francisco, low 70s for the mission district. Pretty much like it was yesterday. And novato will have some hot tefr temperatures there, up to 90 degrees and 89 in santa rosa. If you are planning to head to napa valley today, its going to be nice but look at how fast these temperatures warm up. We start at 60 degrees but by noontime, were at 80, upper 80s today but still very nice for enjoying some time out at some of the local vineyards and going hiking in the east bay, we will have some Cool Temperatures throughout the morning, a nice clear sun virise and our temperatures will feel mild at about 10 00 but then i think if youre heading out early afternoon, make sure you keep drinking lots of water as our high temperatures warm into the low 90s and santa cruz, temperatures stay in the 060s s a great weekend to head to the beaches and even into next week as it warms up in the inland areas, we could be hitting triple digits, not much relief from the high heat in the sevenday forecast and mike, youre checking in on whats happening at the bay bridge. Its completely clear. We do have so in the last three minutes t fast track lanes started a little bit backup. If they back up, that usually means the metering lights are on.
