francisco but not much help inland. we're still going to reach into the mid-80s which is well above average. we'll talk about a major cooldown, especially tomorrow. that's coming up in the forecast. make is checking out a crash already in dublin -- pleasanton. >> right on the border. tough to tell the difference. i believe the north side of the freeway, the westbound lanes are in dublin. i've turned on the camera to see if i can catch a glimpse of anything. i don't see any problems of anything. that's the westbound commute which is a a good amount of traffic but no problems as far as feed so far. back to you. >> thank you very much. problems in willow glen overnight where police are dealing with two investigations. a double homicide inside an apartment and an officer-involved shooting that unfolded when they arrived. >> we've been covering this since our 11:00 news last last night. we continue to follow it this morning. bob redell joining us from the scene. bob, we're still trying to unpack what happened. >> reporter: good morning sam and laura. as you can see behind me, t then jose police department is still processing the scene off laur laurelville lane and lincoln avenue. police responded to the report of someone being shot at a unit here. officers found not one but two people dead, both shot and killed according to a source with a man who shot them inside the apartment refusing to come out. the merge unit, san jose's version of swat, arrived to talk the man into surrendering. neighbors tell us they could hear police on the loudspeaker ordering him to come out. eventually an officer shot and killed the suspect last night. it's not clear what happens in the moments before the officer fired their weapon. that officer is on paid administrative leave which is normal in a situation like this. the d.a.'s office and the police's homicide unit are also conducting a joint criminal investigation which, again, is standard when an officer is involved in a shooting. this is the second deadly shooting this week involving a san jose police officer. you might recall wednesday night police shot and killed a man during a family disturbance. he died yesterday of his injuries in the hospital. bob redell today in the bay. fires were set at an auto body shot on lincoln, it was destroyed. a crew was on scene gathering additional information. we're waiting to find out the other locations where the fire was set. stay with today in the bay as we try to get you answer to those questions. breaking news from england's royal family. a live look at buckingham choose to attend certain events. the queen says she has no plans herself to ratchet back on her engagement. 4:34. this morning san francisco police chief says he's launching a thorough investigation after one of his officers shot and killed a stabbing suspect at a subway restaurant at fifth and market near the powell street bart station shortly before noon yesterday. subway employees say a man who appeared homeless ordered a sandwich but refused to pay for it. the man then allegedly stabbed an older employee. a security guard restrained the suspect until officers arrived. the guards spoke to nbc bay area exclusively saying the suspect went after the officers and that's when an officer shot him. >> the cops came in, told us to get down and he wasn't complying so i'm not going to get down so just pushed him away and got out of the way and he came after the cop and the cop did what he had to, shot him one time. >> the employee who was stabbed suffered non-life threatening injuries. happening right now, a takeover of an entire campus building at uc santa cruz still going on this morning. demonstrators still taking over the administration building. the efforts are organized by the african black student alliance and their demand here, more housing and more resources for african-american students. the university will let the protest unfold "peacefully. with". coming up, don't futures are indicating a higher open on wall street this morning but before the open we'll be getting a boat load of economic data starting with weekly unemployment claims that are out at 8:30 a.m. eastern time. we'll get numbers on the trade deficit, productivity and labor costs and the latest figures on factory orders, that's ahead of the big number this week, the april jobs report due out tomorrow. stocks closing mixed but near the highs of the day yesterday. the dow eking out gains for the second day in a row. the real estate sector was the drag. financials were the leaders after the federal reserve announced it was keeping interest rates unchanged. the dow gaining eight points to close at 20957, the nasdaq down 22 to 6072. google's warning gmail users about spam messages that contain malicious links. the company says it's investigating widespread reports of e-mails asking recipients to click on a link and review a document in google docs, the e-mail appears as if it's coming from a trusted contact. the company says it has taken steps to protect users from these attacks which appear to target roughly a billion gmail users worldwide. and shares of facebook sinking after hours despite reporting better-than-expected earnings. the social media giant blew past analyst expectations on both the top and the bottom line that is their revenues and profits adding 80 million new users in the first quarter of the year but shares tumbled after the closing bell as investors digested a new format for the company's earnings report. the stock is up more than 30% so far missouro. this has been a huge problem after a storm after storm has been rolling through that region, also this is the time of year when the mississippi river floods due to the snow melt farther to the north so you compile that with some of the rain we've had there and it's really been a historic situation there that we've continued to watch and here at home things are all nice and quiet. it's 62 degrees. as you get ready to step out the door in the south bay and the tri-valley, the peninsula at 59. mild temperatures, then you see that fog in san francisco 52 degrees. east bay at 57 degrees and 49 in the north bay. here's a look at those high temperatures. we will be just a little cooler today in the south bay and it will be an improvement over 85 in san jose, 84 in milpitas and for the east bay we're going to see a high of 84 in danville while oakland will be at 74, antioch and livermore a high of 85 degrees 75 in san mateo and look how cool at half moon bay. 64 at the outer sunset and the mission district coming down from the 80s yesterday down to 68 degrees today. we're still going to be in the 80s for the north bay, san jo s rosa, a high of 84 degrees. we start out with cloudy skies and the fog and temperatures in the lower 60s. reaching into the mid-60s at noon and by 4:00 we get more clearing and temperatures reaching into the upper 60s. on the other side of the bay at oracle arena at 7:30, we'll have game two and it will be about 63 with a mix of sun and clouds. mostly cloudy tonight. maybe a jacket needed as you head out of oracle arena. a live look at san jose and getting ready for the day, it will be another day for short sleeves and shorts. especially as we go into this afternoon. you may need a light jacket in parts of the bay area. it's a casual day to stay nice and cool as temperatures will be well above average. and then we'll have the return of the clouds and fog moving in once again and this will help cool us off. there will also be spotty showers nearby and that's things to a cold front and by saturday there will be a very slight chance of flowers rolling through. we'll have another slight chance of rain in the forecast on sunday. as we go into the weekend we will keep track of that chance of rain. partly cloudy skies, we'll have cloudy skies on saturday for the valleys and inland areas, temperatures in the mid-50s and 70 by the afternoon so there will be some clearing. and also a slight chance of rain on sunday, especially during the morning, we'll be watching for that as we go throughout the day as high temperatures reach into the upper 60s. we'll take a look at the rest of the seven-day forecast coming up. mike has a couple slow sensors in oakland. >> just a couple. we'll show you the blip if it's still there over the last couple minutes. it may have cleared. there's the south bay peninsula and the rest of the tri-valley. looks like chp may have cleared up all the lanes eastbound 580 at hop yard from an earlier crash. there's the blip, just a couple sensors reading a slower drive westbound 580 at highway 13. no incidents in the area. road crews may be traveling through and getting off of their road work so that may be one of the reasons. we'll show you the waze system. in the area coming through toward the bay bridge there's no slowing at the maze but your fastest route is the purple one, 43 minutes from antioch to the bay bridge toll plaza. later the green route cutting through kirker pass and ig fish that owe valley may be the faster one. let me show you the waze system you can day. squaw valley was already skiing into uncharted territory, now we hear thanks to some amazing snow this season the resort will remain open longer than first thought. originally they planned to there's a meeting at 10:00 in san carlos, caltrain's board will get an update on where they stand right now. the trump administration suspended funds for the project earlier this year but the budget says he nearly died while being in the care of a local sheriff's office. >> he's suing sonoma county and he spoke to bigad shaban. he's here to tell us more. >> reporter: we're talking about bryce lemon, a former musician who says he hit rock bottom when he landed in jail two years ago. he was homeless but tells us what happened next turned his whole world upside. these records say he was intoxicated, shivering and soaking wet. he was taken to a hospital and treated for hypothermia before he was locked up at the sonoma county jail. he says when he was placed in a cell he was still wearing his same wet clothing. he tells us he complained to medical staff at the jail about extreme pain in his legs and feet but for three days, he says, his complaints went unanswered. he ultimately had to have his left leg amputated. the sonoma county sheriff's office runs the jail and denies accusations it ignored lemon's request for medical care. lemons is now suing the county as well as california forensic medical group, the company paid to provide medical services inside the jail. that company designed our repeated requests for comment. the jail says it conducted its own
