Chp officers and firefighters being hailed heroes this morning for jumping in and saving the life of a fellow officer involved in a fiery overnight crash in the trivalley. That officer was with the San Jose Police department and in the past two hours was able to walk out of the hospital on his own after a very serious accident that took place behind me on eastbound highway 84 in livermore. Considering the circumstances, he is a very lucky to be alive. Just a little after midnight last night, this Police Officer was driving in his personal suv, heading home, eastbound highway 84, when he rear ended a big rig here new ruby hill. It just so happened this was in a Construction Zone. The car that he was in, the suv, caught fire. And he became trapped in that vehicle. It just so happens there were two chp officers nearby working that Construction Zone. One of them used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire while the other called the Fire Department to finally have the officer removed from the wreckage. He was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where San Jose Police supervisor was dispatched to assist and show support for his colleague. We will have this storm system churning up the coast and bringing in some rain later on this evening. We wont see rain all day, but it will be cloudy. A little sunshine, and then we start to see that rain moving into San Francisco and right over at t park in time for the first pitch at 7 15. As we throughout the game, it will be raining.
