on a friday, yes, it's early. >> sunday. >> he's got a point. we'll see mild temperatures for today, a few more clouds coming in for the afternoon. the story of the morning which mike will be watching, a little patchy fog around the east bay. 57 in the east bay. not as warm as yesterday. 67 in san francisco, 70 in oakland. coming up, we'll talk about a chance for light rain in the north bay. right now, a lot of issues for what should be a friday light morning, rob. >> that's right. we're looking at some of the fog rob was talking about toward brentwood, discovery bay. watching 580 through sunol. we've had a lot of incidents on the chp blotter, but not blocking roads to the freeway. they may be a little late in clearing those because it doesn't look like there's any real active scenes going on right now. we have a smooth flow of traffic for the b.a.r.t. system. keep in mind yesterday we had overnight problems. we're looking at the oakland b.a.r.t. station. no problems or delays. there's the train. the oakland station is active right now. back to you. >> thank you very much. a major problem out of oakland. breaking news, three people are dead after they're found in a burning home overnight. homicide detectives are there right now. so is our nbc bay area damian trujillo who is talking with investigators. what are you learning? >> reporter: still an active crime scene. dumbarton drive is not far behind me. the call came in just after midnight of a burning home on dunbar drive. when investigators arrived, they found three bodies inside the home. unclear if the deceased are related at some point or if fire occurred after the homicide. waiting for a spokesperson for the oakland police department to arrive on scene. several streets are blocked off here near dunbar drive. police are using some sort of three-dimensional equipment to kind of get a panoramic shot of the entire crime scene, adjacent streets and whatnot for investigative purposes. again, not a lot of other information, only that three people are dead on dunbar drive. police do have one person in custody they are questioning at police headquarters. i'm damian trujillo, "today in the bay." >> peaceful protest! >> in the meantime, another tense night in streets across the country. this is the scene overnight in portland, oregon, as demonstrators vented their frustrations on the outcome of the presidential election for a third night in a row. 28 people were arrested. >> "today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live from oakland where protesters shut down the freeway for some time last night, bob. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, sam and laura. in spite of the freeway being shut down last night, the protests in downtown oakland were much more peaceful than the previous nights before. you can see behind me some property owners who had their windows broken the night before ended up boarding up the remaining windows from the destruction the night before. fortunately last night's crowd kept the vandalism to a minimum, and the crowd last night was much smaller, in the several hundreds, as opposed to the several thousand on wednesday. the protesters rallied against the election of donald trump for about two hours in frank ogawa plaza, then started their march down broadway, raising fears of violence and vandalism. a pastor stood on the corner and begged them to keep their cool, while another man made this passionate plea. >> who cares about trump. this is oakland streets, my town, do not tear up stuff. >> donald trump is the president. the man said he was going to do this, that and the other for our community. let's give him a chance to do that. >> reporter: police were able to temporarily block protesters from getting onto the freeway even as some in the crowd threw bottles at officers. no officers were hurt. around 9:30, some protesters did get on 580 shutting down both sides of the freeway for 30 minutes. that's when chp arrested two people. in downtown oak lapd, bob redell, "today in the bay." 4:35 this morning. about an hour ago, president elect donald trump took to twitter regarding the protests. he said, quote, love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. we will all come together and be proud. yesterday was cordial meeting when president elect trump was welcomed to the white house by current president obama. >> a lot of curiosity about how this was going to go. it is tradition that the outgoing president briefs the incoming president. yesterday the two men met for the first time ever. they chatted for about an hour and a half. reportedly they say they discussed a wide range of topics covering domestic issues and foreign policy. >> i want to emphasize to you, mr. president elect, that we now are going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed. because if you succeed, the country succeeds. >> mr. president, it was a great honor being with you, i look forward to being with you many, many more times in the future. >> thank you, sir. >> a handshake. and donald trump said he's hoping to seek the president's counsel in the future. coming up, rob has a look at the forecast. >> a little patchy fog around the bay area. good morning sunnyvale. temperatures in the low 50s for now. low 70s this afternoon with increasing clouds and one chance of rain on the way as we start the weekend. the latest when we come right back. rob, i pushed our camera out. you see that little blur there? thousands of dollars less than what you currently pay. a lot of you may be eligible and not even know it. we spent the past six months looking into evictions across san francisco and found some landlords seem to be abusing the system and making a lot more money in the process. we obtained city roirds for an entire year's worth of evictions where tenants were kicked out because their landlord or relative wanted to move in. by law they had to intend to live there for at least three years before renting to someone new. we found landlords appeared to be cheating the system. we've interviewed over 100 people, and in 24 cases which represent nearly one in four of all the evictions we looked into, the person who should be living in the home is not, an apparent violation of the city's own laws. on our website we've mabed every single owner move and eviction in san francisco for the past three years. it's easy to find your neighborhood. you zoom in and you can see when the eviction took place. many of these are totally legal. if your address is listed here and you're not the landlord or family member, chances are someone was wrongfully evicted and you might be able to lock in the cheaper rent. fill out the official complaint form on our website. there you can also find our map. if you live in one of these homes, we want to hear from you. that's all at nbcbayarea.com. guys,
