bay and the north bay seeing patches of sunshine. mostly cloudy skies will be in place. rain at times will taper off this afternoon. we have another round of rain in store for tomorrow. we'll talk about the timing on that when we'll see some sunshine plus another system this upcoming week. it looks like we're not just done with the effects just yet. still hanging on to some rain. >> i love it. last night the south bay saw steady rain. this is where showers hit the downtown area. some said they were caught off guard and forgot the rain gear because of the hot weather. z. >> i was prepared today. >> over in the mountains, showers left slick roads which meant slower speeds. the state water resources control board will decide by the end of this month if there's enough ground water to lift the restrictions we have been put on during this drought. new this morning, rain may have been a factor in a crash that killed one person in the east bay. it happened shortly before midnight in oakland. officers say when they arrived they found a mercedes flipped over. this happened the driver is a man in his 50s. he died at the scene. he was the only one in the car. >> they were not wearing a seat belt and may have been ejected out the windshield or out of his own window. >> the exit is reopened at this hour but the cause of the crash is under investigation. to a developing story this morning. u.s. marshals are looking for this man who is being called zombie mike. there are fears this accused rapist may be hiding out in the bay area. the real name is michael hawkins. authorities say he has a half brother in san jose. he's wanted for the 2012 rape of a wheelchair bound woman in her new york home. his u friends nicknamed him zombie mike because of his poor hygiene. >> he's smelly, his teeth are bad and just developed the nickname. >> he's suspected of assaulting a wife a year after the new york attack. you're urged to contact police or the u.s. marshals if you have seen him. and take a look at this man and two women. police are looking for them after an assault in the mission district. it left one person with life threatening injuries. the attack happened two weeks ago around 2:00 a.m. near 16th and valencia. we have another look at that group. if you're able to recognize anyone call san francisco police. a dramatic new twist in the deadly balcony collapse in berkeley. officials say the five companies who built the apartment complex did inferior work that led to that accident. the east bay times reports the california state contractors licensing board discovered the balcony was not built to trade. it could rot the wooden beams that supported the cabalcony. you may remember six college students were killed in that collapse last june. now to a lot of excitement over a brief visit in the bay area by president obama. the commander-in-chief was in san francisco yesterday for fundraising purposes. there was an event hosted by nancy pelosi. the price of admission more than $33,000 per couple. organizers say the event raised $3 million and that's all for the democratic congressional campaign committee. spectators came from near and far to catch a glimpse of the president. >> we were only here for a couple weeks, but we asked people what they thought about donald trump and it's really interesting what people have to say. it's very divided. from an outsiders point of view, we're obama fans. >> president obama told supporters that this upcoming election is important because the republican party is not rational and well functioning. president obama is scheduled to fly home to washington, d.c. early this afternoon. now to decision 2016. republican candidate ted cruz dominates in colorado ahead of today's state convention. cruz won a big majority of the delegates up for grabs. he will address the assembly today. donald trump cancelled his appearance effectively conceding the state. and trump instead is focusing on his home state of new york as is john kasich u. last night kasich was in syracuse where his rally changed locations twice because of a growing number of attendees. new york's primary is ten days away. meanwhile the democrats are trying to play nice while campaigning in new york. when asked whether hillary clinton thought sanders was qualified she answered yes and said she would take him over any of the republican candidates. sanders did the same while speaking on the "today" show yesterday. both of their campaigning came under fire after clinton and sanders accused one another of not being qualified to be president. back here in the bay area we have new details on a crime. officers are calling atrocious. they didn't mince words as they revealed more about the man who ran over a motorcycle officer. we have a picture of that suspect for you. 28-year-old austin scott is from reno. he's facing several charges including attempted murder and drug use. >> michael eric son was a victim of a waiting for police to help and are taking matters into their own hands. >> it's really disturbing to hear my neighbor had a break in while they were home. >> his wife moved into their dublin dream home a year and a half ago looking for a safe community. now that community is being targeted by thieves. >> we're locking up the house. we're extra vigilant. >> they are a part of a newly formed neighborhood watch in the ranch district. a district with upscale homes where thieves they can find lots of money, jewelry and electronics. >> police say they are the type of criminals who knock on doors and if no one answers they go around the back and break a window or sliding glass door. they armed the home with security cameras. >> somebody is dumping the fence. the motion comes within 15 see them again tomorrow. tax day is april 18th this year not the 15th. ahead of that hundreds of stanford employees are on edge because their personal data was stolen. cyber security can experts say thieves are getting that information by hacking into outside companies. today in the bay's peggy bunker explains what to look out for. >> it's a message that nobody wants. your tax information was downloaded. stanford e-mailed employees staying 3500 w-2 forms were downloaded through a third party ve vender. 600 were downloaded illegalille. hackers needed social security numbers and their dates of birth in order to do this. >> and were able to convince the system they were the actual employee. and now you can see how vulnerable we really are. >> stanford alum is the author of "swiped." he says this was not a breach. >> an institution can do everything right and somebody somewhere clicks on the wrong link at the wrong moment. >> one problem is oversharing on social media filling out taxes or their refund never shows up. in a statement, they are providing credit monitoring to all those affected employees. now to a warning if you're taking bart this weekend. it will take a little longer because a stretch of track in the east bay will be shut down today and tomorrow. the closure will be between the bay fair stations. the tracks will reopen just in time for the commute at 4:00 a.m. on monday. there will be a bus bridge to shuttle passengers between the stations today and tomorrow. crews are working to replace more than 2,000 feet of rail there. now to a live look at the bay bridge for you. rainy out there, but still just a beautiful bridge. crews are dodging the rain. but they are dealing with birds. they hope to lower the second of the old eastern span just like they did the first one a few months ago putting it on barges that will carry it to the port of oakland for dismantling. meanwhile environmentalists will be watching birds. state protected birds rest in the old bridge and they spent millions of dollars to entice them to nest in the new bridge. 200 of the birds didn't budge. now workers have to move as many of them as possible. >> it's a pretty basic principle. if your old home is still there, why would you leave it if you're comfortable. >> the bridge remains open. the bike path is closed from the oakland side. it's 7:18. let's check in with anthony slaughter with a look at our weekend forecast. i've been working a lot out there. i got you covered in the weather department. let's talk about this weather. you may be a little groggy. that's what we're looking outside. showers coming down in some pretty heavy spots. coming in from concorde. over near 680 through the delta as you head over to san francisco we're seeing light showers. 101 into the north bay light showers. but the south bay is seeing a few peeks of sunshine and a little bit of sprinkles across parts of the foothills. temperatures in the 50s in the entire bay. 57 in san francisco. 58 in the peninsula and the south bay. this afternoon we're going to stay cloudy and cool and we'll see a few showers on and off through the day. aespecially u in the north bay. you'll see the best chance of seeing any widespread rain through the day. the south bay you'll see some sunshine after about noon we'll start to see the rain taper off for the south bay. now take a look at the big picture. we have a big area of low pressure spinning across the specif pacific. it's going to bring in the moisture. and that rain has been falling since last night in parts of the bay area. a lot of it hanging out in the central valley. we'll see showers taper off. look at the east bay and south bay. drying out this afternoon. we'll still stay cloudy once we dry out. then tomorrow as the system pulls on shore and moves off to the desert southwest, we'll hang on to light rain nap lin collude the east bay and south bay and peninsula. kind of farther south for tomorrow. the south bay and east bay you'll have a better chance for seeing showers into the afternoon and evening hours. 7:00 in the evening tomorrow still dealing with rain in parts of the south bay and the east bay. so here's a look at how much rain we can expect. about half of an inch or more across parts of the east bay and trivalley. over near the south bay. heading to san francisco, close to an inch as well. the north bay will pick upmost of the rain today but tomorrow the u south bay is expected to see more of the showers. snows headed our way. we're expecting 3 to 6 inches of new snow above 5,000 feet. but again, not a huge snowstorm. it will impact travel. we have our third day of the giants taking on the dodgers. hoping for another win. it will start off great. as we head through the game, we're expecting to dry out. now we have another storm system that's headed our way by midweek. that's going to move in here as we head towards wednesday and thursday. once we get rid of the system, we'll see some sunshine for monday and tuesday. then here comes the next storm system by wednesday. that's going to move in wednesday morning. pushing out of here by thursday and next weekend another storm system starts to approach the bay area for saturday and sunday. so we're not done just yet with this wet pattern. you'll notice the five-day forecast paints pictures of rain guy skies. i can't rule out a stray shower for monday as the system pulls out. tuesday night and wednesday, more rain pushes back to the bay area. don't put the umbrellas away yet. >> thank you. we have much more ahead on today in park superintendent says the park service doesn't have the money for the work. he's reached out to the city u and congressional leaders with hopes of finding funds. in the meantime, he's sounding the alarm. >> it's just not safe. we can't manage different closure areas. >> i don't like to see something wasted. >> walker started a petition on change.org calling for emergency federal dollars to brutality. >> you're not allowed to do that. >> reporter: the sheriffs department says the deputy was investigating a case of possible domestic violence last june when gabbi interfered. >> you can hear her saying you need a warrant to do that. she's actually getting in on him. citizens can't do that. >> the sheriff says a few minutes later the video shows him walking away ignoring the deputy's orders to stay put. he says forcing the officer to take her to the ground. >> there's no punches, there's no kicks, she's taken to the ground because she's not complying. >> they want to try u to put her in jail for this. they want to brand her as a criminal. she's the one who is victimized. it's sickening. >> her attorney insists the teen did nothing wrong. he said the officer was the one way out of line and thinks the video proves it. >> he comes up from behind and with his left hand places it around the back of her neck and throws her face first to the ground. in the video you can hear the impact. >> the d.a. waited months to file charges against the teen. they didn't file until the day after she filed a federal lawsuit against the county. >> it's retaliatory and we're going to get to the bottom of it. >> i'm jodi hernandez, nbc bay area news. police say there are more victims molested by a dental assistant in concorde and the slis growing. a total of three girls under the age of 10 have now come forward. investigators also believe they found video evidence of the molestations. the case began last saturday when an 8-year-old told police that he molested her inside the dental office in concorde. in a raid detectives discovered videos at his home allegedly showing the 24-year-old mon molesting many young patients while they were sedated for dental procedures. investigators believe there could be more than 50 vicvictim. >> that's not including the potential that there may be victims at some of the other places where he worked. or even the cases where maybe he committed these acts where they weren't videotaped. >> he also has worked at the t orthodonti orthodontics. he will be arraigned thursday. case solved, that's what san jose police are saying after arresting this man for attempted murder. they took john vannen broke into custody. he is the one who stabbed another. that victim survived, but nobody managed to identify the attacker until this week. now to a this it afternoon. a selfie video leads to an arsonist being convicted and sentenced to several years of jail time in connection with the king fire. today in the bay's kevin oliver has more from ald ra do county. >> reporter: this video was key to not only getting an arrest but getting a conviction in the king fire. the phone video shows wayne huntsman near the start of the blaze. he was boasting about being in danger. huntsman showed the video to a passer by who picked him up as the fire was initially spreading. the 2014 fire burned 97,000 acres and destroyed more than a dozen homes including tom's. he showed up in court to see the case through. >> they sure screwed my life up. two months before the fire my insurance i had cancelled me. >> he lumbarabled into the courthouse to enter a guilty plea. he sobbed as he confessed. he never could have imagined the magnitude. after the hearing, he apologized again. >> anything to say? >> the court ordered to pay $60 million in restitution but victims don't think they will ever see a dime. the fire destroyed 89 acres of timber bought as an investment. >> it was going to be my retirement. it was going to be pi grandson's college education. guy made a mistake. it cost a lot of people a lot of hard earned money. >> that was kevin oliver reporting. he was sentenced to 17 years in prison. he will have to register as a convicted arsonist with the state wherever he lives. neither he nor his attorney explained why he started that blaze. it's looking a lot like winter this spring in several regions of the u.s. a winter weather advisory is in effect until 6:00 tonight in clapd, ohio. the area is filled with snow and freezing temperatures. people near the great lakes will have to ensure strong wind gusts. a warm front is the bay area is right across the central delta area headed towards yok and brentwood and concorde as well. even oakland will see that momentarily. a lot of this is going to stay concentrated across the east bay and north bay today. tomorrow it will shift a little south. the east bay will see it tomorrow as well. today it's going to be mostly cloudy in the south bay. 58 degrees right now. peninsula same deal. san francisco dealing with some rain. on and off rain for the north bay. san francisco and the east bay for today. the peninsula will see showers taper off before noon. so if you're headed to the giants game, it doesn't look like it will be dry, but you can see the heavy rain is focused mostly across the central valley. that's going to rotate around that area of low pressure across the pacific. eventually as it moves on shore for tomorrow, we'll continue with this pattern o of heavier rain. this is 4:00 in the afternoon. most of the bay will have dried out by then. we're still talking about mostly cloudy skies into the afternoon. tomorrow morning, 7:00, look at the futurecast number right there. you'll notice we're talking about rain for the east bay. even the peninsula. it will spread out by tomorrow afternoon. we'll still hang on to some showers by the evening hours tomorrow for the east bay and south bay. if you're trying to make plans, it looks like it's going to be one of those you will probably have to head to san francisco or trying to stay inside and enjoy that. we're talking about rain. it's going to be on and off. indoor activity is a good idea. you'll notice the rainfall amounts from another quarter inch to half an inch. maybe just maybe some of the heavier downpours could squeeze out an inch in napa. but that would be for today. we have some snow expected as well. not huge amounts, but if you're traveling that way, keep in mind you can run into some snow. anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected at lake level. but not a huge storm system there. as i mention ed if you're heade to the giants game, it will dry out after first pitch. may see a few peeks of sunshine by the seventh inning. rain is expected towards the end of the game as we wrap up the end of the game. it went into overtime last night. they may have the same deal tonight with showers possible. this system is going to continue to scoot out of here for the weekend. another system moves in just in time for midweek. so wednesday, thursday, another system will bring some more rain to the bay area. it's going to keep our temperatures cool as well. then next weekend we can see more showers. the extended forecast keeps rain in the picture. still hanging on to some rain. showers expected today and tomorrow. tuesday and then more rain expected by large we're a little concerned, but all eight made it. four boys and four girls. they were spade and neutered this week and ready for adoption. >> they are vaccinated, they are microchipped. you guys really take care of these animals. they are ready to go all eight of them. and really the mom got adopted. you want to mention that. >> mom was adopted this week. >> they all have cute names like marshmallow is one of them. they all look different. you think they are boxer beagle mixes? >> the mom was about 25 to 30 pounds. we expect these guys to get about that big also. >> big but not too
