It was a 3. 3 magnitude quake that rattled residents at about 1 30 this morning. It was centered outside of morgan hill. The usgs says people felt it as far away as orinda and pacific grove. No reports of damage. Now, cinthia, at first it struck me as interesting to see that they felt it as far away as orinda and the east bay, but its along a certain fault line. Its along the calveras fault and that starts around san ramon and it goes all the way down into san benito, and it sandwiches the San Andreas Fault and goes out to the coastline. Maybe thats why some people in the east bay did feel it. Minor quake, 3. 3, a depth of around four miles. The closer it is to the surface, the more that people can feel it. If you have felt any earthquake since, make sure to let us know on nbcbayarea. Com. Lets start out and get a check of our forecast. San jose waking up to patchy clouds this morning, 60 degreesment were going to warm up nicely, staying mild and breezy at times. Ill tell you the details coming up. Mike has a check on the roads. We expect slowing in the south bay and its kicking in. This is the tail end of the first slowing, but we do notice that it persists. It continues toward the San Jose International airport. There may be an incident as you head through santa clara. Im tracking that as well. The first burst should start to move and then clear up and then return in about another half hour. Well track that for the south bay. We have this build off the Castro Valley y and south on the nimitz, south 680 may see slowing toward sunol. Everything moves and pushes toward the San Francisco commute. In the city it looks clear on the sensors for the freeways, but weve got a lot of big stories over there. Most definitely. We continue to follow this in San Francisco. Have you seen it . Crews had to work throughout the evening just to repair this massive sinkhole. This is at fillmore and green streets. It happened after two antiquated pipes ruptured sunday night, sending hundreds of thousands of gallons of water rushing downhill and took a lot of neighbors by surprise. Crews say more than 100 homes and businesses are either damaged or impacted by the sand and water. Kris sanchez is there. This is in the heart of the city. And some wonder if this may be San Franciscos final dreamforce. Today in the bays Ginger Conejero saab is live for us in San Franciscos Moscone Center. How are things shaping up . Reporter things are just about to get under way very soon here. Year in and year out, dreamforce brings in tens of thousands of people right to the heart of downtown San Francisco, where actually what used to be howard street, but now its transformed into this dreamforce area here. Talking about the Business Impact of dreamforce, that is quite significant for this year, the downtown area and the city, but this year theres a lot riding on how smoothly this threeday conference will go, specifically after bold statements from the salesforce ceo, marc benioff. In a recent interview with the chronicle, marc benioff said if this dreamforce is impacted by the Current Situation with homelessness and drug use, it may be the last dreamforce in the city. There are a lot of eyes on San Francisco for these next three days and beyond, as outside political groups and the National Media are keeping close watch. Among the speakers at this conference, openai ceo sam altman, experts from Stanford Universitys institute of humancentered ai, celebrities matthew mcconaughey, viola davis and spike lee, and San Francisco mayor london breed will make a speaker appearance during the conference as well. Things will start at 10 00 a. M. This morning, things kicking off with the keynote from ceo marc benioff. Well be closely monitoring to see if he will make any other comments about how smoothly the conference is going so far and if this will be dreamforces last conference in San Francisco. That will begin at 10 00 a. M. , as well as a long list of things to look out for in the next three days. The dreamforce concert happens tomorrow at chase center and that will feature the foo fighters. A lot of people are looking forward to that as well. Time is critical right now in morocco, where rescue teams are scrambling to save people from the rubble of the earthquake. This morning the number of confirmed deaths from that quake is approaching 3,000. The numbers are still expected to climb because teams have yet to each so many hardhit areas. The bay areas Moroccan Community is now trying to get word out about a gofundme with money going directly to local nonprofits in morocco. One moroccan to moved to the u. S. The bill now heads to the state senate. Meanwhile, a new deal may soon boost wages for californias fast food workers. The agreement reached yesterday between workers and the industry includes boosting the minimum wage by 5 to 20 an hour. If approved, that increase would go into effect april 1st, it would also halt plans for a possible ballot referendum next fall. Happening today, san jose Leaders Debate how to bridge a financing gap following pay raises for thousands of city workers. The raises announced last month helped avert a potential strike by some 4,500 city workers. Now comes the hard part. The city manager will hold a closeddoor session to work out potential budget cuts offsetting the revised contracts. A live look at the oakland coliseum. It is the future that a lot of people are talking about. Its still far from certain with the as having at least one foot out the door. But now one Minor League Soccer team wants to be a part of the next chapter, the roots. They started in oakland about five years ago, now play at cal state east bay in hayward. The team is looking into building a smaller stadium on a nearby lot of the coliseum complex. You may remember the as now are half owners of the coliseum site, recently suggesting its not interested in selling. The big google antitrust trial gets under way today. The Justice Department bringing the case. Government suddenly rather suspicious of big tech, whether its google or amazon or apple or facebook. Basically the government argues google unfairly blocked competitors from competing by making exclusive deals to be the default browser. And apple will show off refreshed iphones at an event in cupertino today. We expect the new iphones are going to have a new charger, usbc. The eu is asking manufacturers to all switch to usbc. That way you can have one charging cord that charges all of your devices. Now, apple has to go along with this in europe if they want to sell iphones there, and obviously they do. They might as well make the switch everywhere, which means if you have the older iphone, and i mean something you bought three months ago, right, you dont have to make any major changes. But the next time you buy an iphone, you probably need a new dongle because were not bringing the headphone jack back, which drives me crazy. New developments for anchor employees trying to save their San Francisco brewery. Now, they say that theyre ready to talk to investors about raising thousands of dollars. Back in july the Japanese Company that owns anchor brewing announced that it was closing the 127yearold business. Unionized workers decided to take action. They worked together to start a gofundme and asked the community to donate. In just a few days, they received 90,000. The workers help to Start Talking about investments with investors to pitch a new plan to retrieve operations. Stargazers are getting ready for a new sight, the newly discovered comet shooting past the atmosphere. It will come to closest to the sun on sunday.
