after two weeks of silence, bob dylan is finally acknowledging his nobel prize for literature. the singer said the award left him speechless. he did not say if he will head to sweden to collect his prize. and hometown loss. the day the fans dreamed of for decades ends in defeat. >> cleveland wins it. >> following a 1-0 loss to the indians. the series is far from over, today, october 29th, 2016. >> announcer: from nbc news, this is "today" live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. >> good morning. welcome to "today" on this saturday morning. i'm sheinelle jones alongside craig melvin and dave price and stephanie ruhle. >> good morning, dave. let's start with the shocker. ten days away is the presidential election. hillary clinton is urging to make more details public that the fbi is looking into more e-mails of the investigation of her private e-mails server. let's get the latest from justice correspondent pete williams. >> reporter: craig, good morning. these e-mails were found when they were investigating another case. the officials say it is the investigation of former congress member anthony weiner. the fbi has been looking if weiner sent sexually explicit texts to a girl. he used a laptop and his wife, huma abedin, used the same computer to e-mail hillary clinton's private serv server address. the fbi wants to see if it has classified information and the new bunch of e-mails has been found and it has to be reviewed. officials say they have not reviewed the e-mails and have no idea what is in them. it is possible they could be duplicates of what the fbi has already seen. there is no way it could be done by election day. as for comey, he sent a note to all employees saying it would be not right to notify the public. given the discovered e-mails, i hope i don't want to give the impression in trying to strike that balance. >> to be clear here, how many e-mails? >> reporter: they have not given us a specific number. they say it is in the thousands. >> pete williams in d.c. this morning. thank you. there was swift reaction from hillary clinton and donald trump overnight. nbc's kristen welker is in white plains, new york with what both camps are saying. good morning. >> reporter: sheinelle, good morning. hillary clinton is going to florida where polls show it is a tight race. now her campaign is in full damage control mode after the october surprise that could upend the entire race. >> that's why it is incumbent upon the fbi to tell us what they're talking about. >> reporter: hillary clinton trying to reclaim the narrative after the bombshell news. fbi director james comey looking into more e-mails. >> the director himself has said he doesn't know if the e-mails referenced in the letter are significant or not. >> reporter: at the arranged press conference, hillary clinton asked if it would fuel voters lack of trust. >> i think people made up their minds about the e-mails. >> reporter: donald trump wasting no time capitalizing on the news yesterday in new hampshire. >> this is bigger than watergate. >> reporter: trump, lagging in the polls, grappling with his controversi controversy seizing on the case. >> the fbi would not open up this case if it were not an egregious offense. >> reporter: now sounding a different note on the fbi. >> i give them the great credit for the courage to right the horrible wrong. >> reporter: republicans close to giving up on trump piling on. house speaker paul ryan pushing to suspend all classified briefings for secretary clinton until this matter is fully resolved. the new york post with the headlines out of the front page. and the fbi discovered the e-mails may be pertinent to the investigation on the device weiner shared with his estranged wife huma abedin, clinton's top aide. this could not come as a worse time for clinton with ten days until election day. most polls showed her in the lead. touting the strong early lead. >> we are happy to go to arizona. >> reporter: moments after that, the news broke mid flight. the candidate caught off guard. >> how did you find out? >> same way you did. >> reporter: and vice president joe biden was asked about the fact that former congress member anthony weiner is at the center of the probe. his response, i should not comment on anthony weiner. i'm not a big fan. as for the race, trump is lagging in most polls and we are learning he is loaning his campaign $10 million. a cash infusion he hopes to help come back. sheinelle. >> thank you, kristen. >> there is a lot to talk about here. i want to bring in chief legal correspondent ari melber and the republican strategist and josh barrows. josh, you recently changed your party affiliation from republican to democrat. clearly showing this is an exciting election. ari, i want to start with you. this decision on director comey's part. this is opening a hornet's nest. all of us and the justice department and hillary clinton found out like the rest of us. does this mean it is a foregone conclusion what is in the e-mails is explosive or could it be a prosecutor tying up loose ends? >> it is most likely tying up loose ends. the letter is unobjectable for what it says. i think comey is doing what he should do. update testimony. he told congress we are not reading anymore e-mails. now he has people looking at newly discovered e-mails. the reaction is as we reported is much bigger. because the letter was vague or cr cr cryptic, he is doing what he needs to do. >> josh, congress has an obligation to learn about the e-mails. does he has an obligation to the voters who are going to the polls in 11 days? >> yes. while i think it is likely -- what they found is there is a laptop on which huma abedin, an employee of hillary clinton's, would e-mail hillary clinton. it is likely these are duplicates of ones we found. we don't know that yet. the fbi doesn't know that yet. they have an obligation to say what they know. they have an obligation to figure this out. what voters say does this matter? did we learn about any new wrongdoing? there is no indication of any wrongdoing. this research of the story and causes people to wonder. >> sara, i'll bring you in. hillary clinton diehards don't care. they are voting for her. same thing for the others on the other side. what about those in the middle? does it reinforce the narrative of she is not trust worthy? >> you could not have a worse story for hillary clinton that she is secretive and evasive. if she could redo that decision to have the private server in her basement, i bet she is thinking about that today. i don't think it will change minds unless we hear from comey. he will have to say we found e-mails that were not disclosed. i think we are running out of time for that. i wonder if some of the previously deep red states they thought they were moving on the map. texas, georgia, that in fact those will move away. >> to be clear, roughly 15 million people have cast ballots in the country. through absentee or early voting. let's assume the polls hold, ari and hillary clinton becomes the president of the united states. does this guarantee we are going to see incessant investigating during her administration? >> i'm reminded from the term from the '90s. criminalization of politics. the idea every disagreement is a moral failing. everything that happens that people don't like is grounds for a scandal and endless round of investigation. i don't think that is how the prosecution can work. that is not what the voters really want. there is a problem that something that was once on the fringe. the idea your opponent should be jailed, quote/unquote lock her up, should be main lined. he could lose the election and we could live with a lot of the consequences of trump-ism for a long time. no matter what your party, if you think the results of a political disagreement should involve jailing of opponents, there is a lot of that before you knew the facts. that is why the partisan reactions to this. that is unfortunate. >> take the law and put it aside. let's talk pr and perception. if you are hillary clinton's camp right now, what do you do? >> i think you want to change the subject as quickly as possible. >> how can you? >> it is hard. people will speculate in the e-mails absent the information. in the weird way, the best indication of the election has been the change rate with the mexican peso and american dollar. >> that's what i always say. i have been saying that. >> it is a good point. >> in the first debate, hillary clinton did great and the peso rose 2% over the dollar. when this news broke, there was a move half as large in the other direction. the markets are telling us this matters. on the other hand, hillary clinton was favored to win before the first debate. still favored after the first debate. that is not the market saying this is a total game changer and trump will win. this is a negative story for her. if i am her, i want to get back to talking about donald trump groping women. >> this is a lifeline for the trump campaign? dress up as the gordon. well, we begin with a developing story in the south bay, there's chaos at a popular valley fair mall in san jose, two people were stabbed and sent shoppers running for cover. witnesses say a group of teenagers attacked two adult men just outside the bath and body works store around 7:30 last night. officers say one man was stabbed in the hand, the other in the back. neither injury is life threatening. san jose police chased down and arrested five suspects. they were hiding in a nearby neighborhood. as of now, police do not believe this was a targeted attack. now to a story we first broke yesterday, there's been an arrest in a bay area cold case, richmond police say this man, jonathan jackson, raped and beat to death 82-year-old sun kwon while she was out on a morning walk back in 2012. the case remained unsolved until jackson was arrested on charges of possessing a stolen car. his dna sample came back as a match to evidence left on kwon's body. so, coming clinton that the fbi had not looked at. both campaigns agree the fbi should release more information on this, especially ten days before election day. after 13 million americans have already voted. >> caught fire at chicago o'hare airport. video captured the terror of passengers escaping on the emergency slides. those on board said the jet blew the right side engine. in florida, ft. lauderdale airport closed for a time after the fiery explosion of the fed ex plane. the fire ball ripped apart sections of the aircraft. the pilots were able to escape. a suspect the car theft turned into something different in oregon. the surveillance video shows the subaru taken from the driveway. the next day, the car was back with the apologetic letter. the woman said she wrong off with the wrong car. she had an apology note and gas money for the owner. police say that some older subaru keys can apparently open other models so no charges are being filed. we have to talk sports. tonight, of
