A collapsed road here washed away in the city of brenan. This is one example of the roads damage thats been done after relentless rain and flash flooding. The focus this morning is shifting southeast as a tropical depression threatens the holiday weekend. Reporter all eyes on the southeast. Will it make landfall . Possibly or hug the coast. Reporter as the seasons second tropical depression takes aim and an increase danger of rip currents and rough surf. Across southeast texas, relentless rain. 20 inches of rain. Reporter leading raging waters and flooding homes and stranding drivers. Rescuers working around the clock. Police in con row breaking the window of a car to save a woman who drove around a barricade. Throughout texas, two dead and three feared missing. Believed to be swept away in vehicles. Relatives say 21yearold Darren Mitchell posted this picture of his truck filling with water before he disappeared. His caption, all i wanted to do was go home. A lot of folks traveling this weekend. Hanging out with friends and family. Weve got something brewing off the east coast. If this storm gets a name, it would be bonnie. It would be only the 7th storm to be named in may since 1980. Were watching this. It will likely become storm bonnie. It is moving 14 miles west. Winds at 30 miles per hour. It will max out at 40 miles per hour. Its not a lot of wind. It is not a lot of rain. For folks at the beaches, this could lead to dangerous rip currents. We are going to see it strengthen into a tropical storm. It will make landfall at some point between charleston, South Carolina and myrtle beach. Then it will turn and go out to sea. It will pump moisture in the northeast. Especially the interior northeast where we could see 1 to 3 inches of rainfall. In new york city, we could see spotty showers early monday morning. We are watching the storms through the plains. We are clearing out of texas. We do still have the chance of some isolated stronger storms. It is a marginal risk from the great lakes through texas. Theyll be spotty. Some could produce larger hail, isolated damaging winds. Any tornadoes are not widespread. Tomorrow, gearing up for the next round. In amarillo and across the texas panhandle, that is where we have the best chance of stronger storms and going into next week, more rain for texas. Expected to be part of a Long Island Air show this weekend, crashed into the hudson river friday night off the edge of manhattan. The pilot come up. All of a sudden, the plane went down and he never came up. We saw it splashing into the water. Disappeared. Reporter the coast guard and fire and rescue from new york and new jersey scrambling to the scene. In search of the 56yearold pilot. Hes seen here in a recent photo. A Good Samaritan from a passing sailboat jumped into the river to help, but unfortunately, the one seater plane went under quickly. The search for the pilot went through the night. At times, causing confusion for the rescuers and public. New Jersey State Police put something out he was on the way to the hospital. Is he okay . Thats inaccurate.
