you're just trying to watch the movie, the broadway show. >> you paid a lot of money to be there. >> or you're on the plane and you're trying to read or rest. that's happening. what do you do? >> this came up in "the new york times" social cues column. >> some lady where a guy next to her started snoring. she was in the quiet car which you can't even be on the phone. >> you can't cough. >> what would you do? >> as shocking as that seems. it is an old-fashioned western in that regard. >> you said the hardest part of wearing all those cowboy hats for you was being the leading man opposite charlize. tell us about that. >> what that intimidating? >> i love this one because if you go on vacation it's got a little watering tray below it. so if you travel a lot, you know, put the water in the bottom. >> but not -- a month in europe. like a weak. >> how about the stackables? >> they're a lot of fun. they provide a lot of color. you can spread these out in different areas. you can put them on stands. it's a lot of fun to be playful with the colors and then play with the colors in your plants, as well. >> okay. >> and this one right here, it gives the effect of having a nice glass but feel how lightweight it is. >> how much is it? >> all of these are under $50. >> really? >> everything is affordable. >> these pots are from lowe's. we have others from crate & barrel. depending on your taste or your style. >> something for everyone. >> usually you put strawberries in there. today we have gardenias. they'll spill out and flower all day long. >> do you mean gardenias. >> what did i say? >> oh, excuse me. didn't see those. >> oh. >> well, well, well. >> another trick i'd like to have is perennials. i have the azaleas. you can buy them when they're small. keep them in a pot. >> they can get enormous. >> keep them in a pot all summer long and in the fall instead of an annual dying off you plant it in the garden, next year it comes back. >> they are blooming right now. >> they look nice. >> so gorgeous. >> so over here we have some great examples of plants that you're going to put in the sun and plants in the shade but it really doesn't matter when you have containers because you can move them around. >> sure. >> give them morning sun, give them afternoon sun. >> exactly. >> so the biggest thing is this mixing, matching, making it fun, having your filler around the edge. having something taller in the middle. >> sounds good. >> and then now we have a challenge for you down here. >> oh, we do? try alka seltzer reliefchews. they work just as fast and taste better than tums smoothies assorted fruit. mmm. amazing. yeah, i get that a lot. alka seltzer heartburn reliefchews. enjoy the relief. according to the american stroke association, someone in the u.s. has a stroke about every 40 seconds. that's about six people by the end of this segment. >> strokes are the number three cause of death for women in the u.s. after heart disease and cancer. the good news is, 80% of them can be prevented if you know the warning signs. >> fortunately, avid runner terry acerson knew exactly what those signs were when she experienced them as she was driving with her son parker, almost exactly a year ago. watch. >> decided we wanted to go to starbucks. we got our starbucks and we're headed home. >> we were at a red light, just having a conversation like we always do. and all of a sudden she like kind of lost feeling in her hand and i saw the coffee cup start to slip. >> i turned to parker to try to ask him to take the coffee cup out of my hand. and the words that were in my mind were not coming out of my mouth. >> and i said, what's wrong? because she wasn't talking anymore and then her whole left side of her face started drooping. >> he looked at me and he said, mom you're having a stroke. >> i knew i had to do something. >> we were half a mile away from a primary stroke center. >> we just went straight there. i got there as fast as i could. >> i was there within seven minutes of my symptom onset. had this happened to me some years ago i would probably be in a long-term care facility. i probably wouldn't be able to eat. and i probably wouldn't be able to communicate with my family. >> that is so amazing. terry is here with dr. lori mosca the director of preventive cardiology at u.s. presbyterian hospital who authored a series on stroke awareness. >> you son took over the wheel and got you there? >> we changed positions in the car and he drove me straight back to a primary stroke care center. >> what a hero he is. >> what's important is you actually work in a stroke care facility. so you knew all of the symptoms, and exactly what you should be doing. >> i did. i'm a coordinator for a primary stroke care program in independence, missouri. >> that's unbelievable. >> wouldn't you be one of the least likely woman to have a stroke though, on the surface, completely healthy. >> completely. >> she doesn't have risk factors for stroke except we know there are certain conditions in the heart and irregular rhythm that many people aren't aware of that can lied to a stroke so i think that was the situation here. but she looked so healthy, and that's what is so surprising. >> tell us about the things that people should know. the symptoms, describe them a little bit more and what someone should do. >> the easiest way to remember is the acronym fast, f.a.s.t. face, is your face drooping, is it numb? arms, is your arm numb or more weak on one side or the other? speech, are you slurring your words? can you find your words? i couldn't find my words to talk with parker, and time. it's time to call 911. >> that's a great way to remember that. >> and it seems like those symptoms are they similar to a heart attack symptoms? >> well, it can be. but i think the really positive thing about her story and the important message here is that she recognized the symptoms and got care quickly. there's a window of opportunity of about three hours where we can use our clot busting drugs and that's really what saved not only her life but her function. and unfortunately, even though she's aware of the stroke symptoms, many people are not. and the american heart association national survey showed only about 50% of women knew two major symptoms of a stroke, the weakness that you mentioned, and also difficulty speaking, and only about -- >> the face. >> and only about one quarter of women know unusual symptoms, sudden headache, and dizziness. loss of vision. >> how are you feeling? are you 100% back? >> i'm great. i'm great. >> are you back to running, doing everything? >> i will be running my fourth marathon since my stroke on june 21st. >> good girl! >> you've done four in the year since the stroke?
