We can see it in body language, are we forcing it . A loud silence. A quiet and happy silence. A sweet silence. When a guy gets quiet, i think of course, thats true, and then the problem is sometimes you may just want to chatter and fill the space, and that turns a person off terribly. Thats terrible. Were in nature, Walking Around outside, looking, and youre being filled naturally. That can be a really nice time. Letting me watch the football game. That can be a really nice silence. Then, if were both on our devices, thats sort of a loud silence. Ignoring each other together. Although it is nice when we were give each other space to be like, hey, i need to look at my emails, you need to look at your emails. We dont do email. I get it, kathie lee. Also made a space to be able to give each other time and space. If one of you wants to be with the other, and youre really trying to be acknowledged, then it can be problematic. I knew a girl whose husband all day had to deal with people. Out dealing with people all day. When he came home he wanted to be quiet. She, waiting for the minute, wanted to have a conversation. He gave his best to everyone else and then came home, honey, i just need to sit here. Are they still together . Theyre not. We might be in car listening to a song. Music comes on, its background. If you really, really listen to a song deeply, it were be a beautiful shared experience. What if one of them wants to whistle all the time . Okay . Weve got Serious Problems in our relationship. What ive learned to do is what . What should she be doing . I call regis and he and joy come over and then we talk about other stuff and all have a great time. Its really interesting.
