Bill neily, chief correspondent is at the bridge where it all began. Good morning. Reporter good morning. After another terrible night of killings and stabbings it began for a second time in recent months on a bridge and ended just after Police Officers were called and shot and killed three men. But not before more people become victims of terror. Searching for accomplishes, guns drawn after another brutal attack. It began on London Bridge, people running for their lives, the streets littered with the dead and injured. Just minutes earlier theyd been enjoying bars and restaurants when this white van accelerated onto the bridge targeting pedestrians, zigzagging from sidewalk to road and hitting dozens. Three men then jumping from the van with knives. They went to another restaurant in front the street just with knives. Maybe mid20s, maybe a bit younger, all in black. Well, they had like black hoodies, black hair. Reporter the men started stabbing people inside a market district. Inside a restaurant, terrified customers. Police warning everyone to stay down and hide. Outside thousands were fleeing in terror. I saw it was like these three men with these kind of bomb looking belt. Preliminary were trying to put himself between these attackers and the rest of people, trying to scare them. Reporter police shot and killed three men who wore fake balmen vests within three minutes of the first emergency call. We believe three suspects are dead. Reporter americandential now helping police. We have a good working relationship with our american colleagues. We depend on them to keep this country safe. Reporter britains Prime Minister, outraged. We believe we are facing a new threat as terrorism breeds terrorism. But it is time to say enough is enough. Reporter the three terrorists havent yet been named. An eyewitness saying one of them was shouting today is for allah. I look out across the road and theres a guy throwing a table, which turns out to be a heroic guy trying to throw this table to try and save people and himself. Reporter a city braced for more. Well, many of the 48 injured are in a very serious condition. The government is confident that islamic extremists did this. And of course it comes just days before the election. People asking whats next . How do we stop this, when does it end . Willy. Mark cooper was headed to his job as a Railway Worker last night when he saw people running in fear. And mark joiness us right now. I really appreciate your time. Just describe for me, if you could, mark, what you saw around 10 00 london time last night . Well about 10 00 last night i was having a coffee outside the shop. And i seen a lot of people running down from the market down towards me. And i didnt know what was going on at the time. And one person said run, run. I said why, and they said someone had been stabbed in the market. So i got up, wept over to compound where i was working, looked at another colleagues and turned down the road and like fireworks going off. And the bloke said it dont sound like fireworks. It sounds like gunshots. And police turned up and said get in the compound and get locked in. So we get locked in. We were in there about ten minutes, and then the policemen told us to get out of the compound and run up the middle of the road. So we get out and start running up the middle of the road. And as were running i see three people lying on the curb, and it looked terrible. People running about screaming. I had another nine colleagues with me, so all i wanted to do was get them back to safety. So we actually got up the road and out of sight, and i found one of our colleagues to bring the mini bus home to take them back home. And thats what i did. Mark, did you suspect that this was some kind of terrorist attack given what youve seen through the last decade, really, but even through the last couple of months . I did speak to the policeman, and he did tell me this was a terror attack. And how do you feel, mark, in your city . Do you feel safe there . Well, you feel nervous. Youre watching your back all the time no matter who youre speaking to. Mark, we appreciate your time. Youve been through a lot, seen a lot. Were grateful for your time this morning. Thank you, sir. Youre welcome. Thank you. And President Trump is reacting to the news out of london on twitter. He expressed solidarity with the british and is proof the u. S. Should have what he called a travel ban. There have been a series of tweets from the president , and his first impulse this morning is to tweet again on the politics with a strong sentiment on the president in his sort of get tough on terrorism. He tweets just a short time ago, we must stop being politically correct and get down to business of security for our people. In another tweet the president says do you notice were not having a gun debate right now . Thats because they used a truck. He reached out to theresa may, the british Prime Minister, spoke by phone and offered the prayers and support by the United States. That happened noting long after the president was briefed brie buy his security team. And he also tweeted where the president said whatever the United States can do to help out in london and the u. K. , we will be with you. God bless. But well before the president offered that comfort, he made yet another political statement. And this one has to do with one of his most controversial policies. The president tweeting here we need to be smart, tough, and vigilant. We need the travel ban as an extra level of safety. Of course that travel ban refers to the president s sixcountry temporary travel ban affecting majority muslim nations. And its been blocked by a series of federal judges. But just thursday the Trump Administration asked the Supreme Court to intervene. The Trump Administration is asking the court to allow the enforcement of the president s travel ban which would block visas for 90 days and stop the refugee flow. Now, clearly that Campaign Promise was on the president s mind and so was the frustration hes not been able to enforce that executive order. Of course opponents say it is unconstitutional, a ban aimed at discriminating against muslims. Even the president using the phrase travel ban is something lawyers could argue in court. And in addition, the president president most recently met with the Prime Minister of Great Britain to talk about intelligence sharing and to build on their relationship. So on the white house support and vigilance on terror and security. And all this as we have james comey testifying next week in the senate. We have a top Counter Terrorism official under president george w. Bush. We had knives, had a van, fake bomb vests, three attackers accord to police there. What does your experience tell you about who they might be . Well, this is certainly the new wave of terror where you have low tech but high impact on a metropolitan center. What this suggests to me is this follows in a line of attacks weve seen throughout europe, frankly a wave we saw in the u. K. On a similar knife and hatchet attack in southlanden. This strikes me exactly on what the United States and even al qaeda has called for. They called for any means possible to attack citizens in the heart of capitals, in the middle of western living and lifestyle. We saw that in paris. We now saw this last night, attacks on pubs and restaurants on a saturday night in london. And it also comes in the wake of a call for all out war during ramadan by isis to attack just like this. So it does strike me this follows in the line of violent islamest extremist attacks unfortunately weve seen throughout europe that seem to be quickening in pace and scope. We heard theresa may this morning saying, quote, enough is enough. We need to take measures. What do you about three guys with a van and some knives . How do you counter this, and what might be saw around the world . Well, this is incredibly difficult to stop. Youve got a lot of factors you have to worry about. British officials have been worried about these kinds of attacks for a number of years. The number of individuals who have traveled to iraq and syria to be part of isis, and individuals who are being radicalized on the internet. We heard theresa may talking about that phenomenon and problem as well. So western officials have to worry about volume. They have to be more predictive. Officials also have to worry about the underlying ideology, the narrative i would one of the things that bothers me here is in the wake of the westminster attack, in the wake of the manchester bombing, you had officials on high alert looking to disrupt the attack. And even with all that vigilance and attention, they werent able to stop this attack. Thats a harbinger of things to come. Been a devastating couple of months going back to the Westminster Bridge incident. Last nights attack in london comes less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured more than 100 others. Nbcs Kelly Cobiella is there for us. Reporter Ariana Grandes manager putting out a statement saying the artist will sing loudly and with even greater purpose afterlash night. Manchester is about 210 miles northwest of london. Its about a twohour train ride in the center part of the country. This morning the Prime Minister theresa may says it does not look like the London Attack was at all connected to the manchester attack. Theres a huge security operation underway here in manchester. Theyre expecting 130,000 in this vicinity, some for the Ariana Grande one love concert, others for a Charity Soccer game happening less than a mile away. Therell be a huge police presence, police not talking numbers, only saying that it will be significant. Theyre asking people, for example, to leave bags at hole. They say every single thing will be searched. They want meme poohave a good time, but they also want them to remain vigilant. All this happening as the investigation into the attack in manchester is still in full swing. Police releasing more pictures of the sus pkted bomber salman abedi. They also said they found his car, trying to piece together the evidence in the attack here that killed 22. Kelly, thank you, and of course we will have continuing coverage of this story all day on msnbc, and well go back to london here in just a moment. But first, dylan has a look at the weather. Not as cloudy as what we woke up to on saturday, but still seeing the temps in the 50s. South bay at 55. Loons the peninsula, at 50. The biggest change going into today is we can expect to see the pindz pick up from breezy to windy. 52 right now in San Francisco. That Doppler Radar showing just a little bit of that cloud cover.
