nearly 20 years on the front line. he is investigating these fires but tells us when there aren't eyewitnesss willing to speak up, fire investigators have to look to the damage to tell the story. >> arson is a hard thing to prove. >> reporter: jeremy davis has investigated more -- walk into that site, what exactly will they be looking for? >> we look for different fire patterns or fire indicators and what those are are things that we can see that will show us fire travel, fire movement. >> reporter: how does a fire started by arson look different than any other fire. >> if a fire starts normally, it starts at the point of a v and moves up or out. if you use ignitable liquid, the start of the fire is wide at the base. >> reporter: what looks like charred damage, to a fire investigator it could be evidence of where it started. >> absolutely. and it doesn't burn everything away. it changes what it looks like. >> reporter: davis believes most construction sites don't have enough fencing to keep people out. companies should use private security and have people walking around. the company that -- >> we want to give you a follow up of a brush fire that burned several structures in solano county. this was near travis air force base. that fast moving grass fire began in a grove of cyprus trees. the flame spread to a field. and open space right now the air force base. the good news is neither cows nor people were injured. a petition to rename justin herman plaza. they accuse herman of leading efforts to demolish homes and businesses. and that he tried to keep black families had to be evacuated. there is a shelter set up near lake marric. >> this is now the fifth major fire in the past five years. all of these fires happened in projects to build new apartments and retail space. the last four were ruled suspicious or arson. repo report. >> reporter: we want to give you a -- so how do you figure out how a fire started? we sat down with a fire investigator who spent nearly 20 years on the front line. he is investigating these fires but tells us when there aren't eyewitnesss willing to speak up, fire investigators have to look to the damage to tell the story. >> arson is a hard thing to prove. >> reporter: jeremy davis has investigated more -- walk into that site, what exactly will they be looking for? >> we look for different fire patterns or fire indicators and what those are are things that we can see that will show us fire travel, fire movement. >> reporter: how does a fire started by arson look different than any other fire. >> if a fire starts normally, it starts at the point of a v and moves up or out. if you use ignitable liquid, the start of the fire is wide at the base. >> reporter: what looks like charred damage, to a fire investigator it could be evidence of where it started. >> absolutely. and it doesn't burn everything away. it changes what it looks like. >> reporter: davis believes most construction sites don't have enough fencing to keep people out. companies should use private security and have people walking around. the company that -- >> we want to give you a follow up of a brush fire that burned several structures in solano county. this was near travis air force base. that fast moving grass fire began in a grove of cyprus trees. the flame spread to a field. and open space right now the air force base. the good news is neither cows nor people were injured. a petition to rename justin herman plaza. they accuse herman of leading efforts to demolish homes and businesses. and that he tried to keep black families in the bay view and hunter's point. the petition calls for the plaza to be renamed after maya angelou. big changes in the work in san francisco treasure island. it is the biggest urban renewal project san francisco arts commission along with the treasure island development authority just created a master plan fort island. the arts commission expects to generate more than $50 million to turn the island in a hub. >> world class des stination. >> reporter: using materials that might seem familiar. >> i am taking three massive girders from the old east span of the bay bridge and cut them into wedges and form them into a circular shape. this will be a doughnut shape i have been calling it. the whole bay area is visible from the spot and i love it for the place of the structure. >> reporter: the idea of the island as an arts destination isn't that far off. >> a strange combination of the beautiful, the exotic and magnificent. >> in some ways it is going back to its origin. >> reporter: the hot air will be trapped in. 80 at oakland. 103 in livermore. if you are headed out to the east bay, trying to get into the alameda county fair, the last weekend. opens at 11:00 a.m. just remember to drink that water. it is going to be warm through that last weekend. we have nice beach weather head over to half moon bay with 65 degrees. san francisco 70 along the embarcadero and cooler near the marina. 88 in mill valley. 95 expected in napa. we will spend time on our extended forecast. in san francisco, we stay with the upper 60s up through sunday and then 60s continue to next week. may pop into the 70s by thursday and by friday, down to 69. and then marked relief by next monday tuesday, also on wednesday's forecast. coming up over the next 14-day period, looking far out, keeping our eye
