Reporter chp is still looking for a suspect in this freeway shooting, this one at powell street in emeryville. I spoke with drivers in the area who tell me theyre concerned. The shootings along east bay freeway has drivers on edge. I know its dangerous. Its awful. Really is. The latest shooting happening around 2 30 a. M. This morning on the powell street off ramp of i80 east in emeryville. The suspect shooting another driver several times, including a gunshot wound to the head. That driver currently in critical condition. According to chp, this marks the 36th east bay freeway shooting since november. Its led to highway cameras being installed along highway 4 in pitsburg which saw a series of shootings six months ago. Chp believes a majority of the shootings are targeted or gangrelated, leaving some drivers wondering if its safe to use these freeways at all. I dont really have any concern about it. Because i am not in a gang obviously. But i guess theres always ace risk for stray bullets and things like that. Im afraid to ride the freeway. I dont know which way the bullet might be coming. Todays protest by the superior Court Professional Employees Association was a lastditch attempt to revive contract talks but Union Leaders say judges didnt respond. The union reigns about 380 workers, including court clerks, technology techs and janitors. Many will strike starting wednesday and it will cause delays for people in family court, traffic court, small claims and paperwork needed to process gun purchases, writs and assistance for Domestic Violence victims. Union leaders point out top perk salaries top out at 56,000. A year. Once the strike starts, theyll be earning nothing to make a point. To be able to go on strike. Countless hours spent in and out of the Memorial Pool in walnut creek. What we have is a very nice swim center that was built 40 years ago. Swimmers like dean harper have built memories. I met my wife here. And witnessed champions emerge. Out of this pool, i mean, dozens and dozens of olympic to your left. That may come to an end. Youre not going to get the olympians. Theyre not going to want to swim mere. Theyll want to go where you have a 50meter pool. The city is spending 6 million to revitalize the 44yearold facility, which includes a family recreational pool and a 25meter pool. But it doesnt have the funds to rebuild the entire 50 meters. They have so much invested in the outcome that were asking them to step up to the plate and help raise funds. Going to hurt the ability to teach lessons in the city of walnut creek. The coach also runs the walnut creek aquatic foundation. He says swimmers also generate about 200,000 in revenue a year. But they dont have the 3 million needed for a new 50meter pool. Our program will have to move out of the city. I feel very, very sad. I really want to be on a swim team like this one day. As of now, this is the only 50meter pool in the city. Swimmers say they will start fundraising to try and come up with that 3 million as soon as possible. But they say its going to be difficult. A highrise tower for the rich and famous. Its sinking in downtown San Francisco. The Millennium Tower has sunk 15 inches since it was built. Theyre hiring engineers and experts and promising to go after whoever is responsible. Nbc bay areas Mark Matthews is outside the Millennium Tower. Is there a safety issue here . I hear its leaning too a bit. Reporter it is. Its about 2 inches off center. Seismologists and scientists and architects willing to talk to me off camera are telling me no, it is not a safety issue even in an earthquake. But it is shaping to be an expensive and messy fight. Those who live in the Millennium Tower including joe montana and hunter pence and paid millions for their condos. Condos sinking 16 inches and tilting 2 inches off center. Are you worried about the values going down . We are. A temporary problem to everybody. Seismic experts and engineers say it is not a safety issue, even in an earthquake. But a fix could be very expensive. The Homeowners Association released a statement saying its looking at responsible parties and those parties may include the developer, the original design professionals, the original contractors and the joint powers authority. The transbay transit project runs right next door and the buildings owner, Millennium Partners issued a statement saying they settled more than originally anticipated because it was affected by such subsequent construction by others. But a spokesman wrote that Millennium Partners poor design decision is the cause of the tilt and the excessive vertical settlement. Millenniums foundational piers are not sunk into bedrock. Of the architect of the neighboring 181 fremont building told me he was aware of the problems at millennium and thats why he called for 300foot piers that go all the way into the bedrock. Danville at 89. For the east bay, anywhere from 75 in oakland to walnut creek expecting 90. The reason why temperatures are starting to feel more comfortable is a storm track is just off to the north. But once we hit thursdays forecast, storm track lowers right on top of San Francisco. Well have a weak storm system starting to move on in and that will help temperatures to drop each a few more degrees again by thursday. For San Francisco, you can see the result of that weaker storm system. Go from an average of 66 on tuesday, down to 62 on thursday. Well keep the trend of 60s right throughout next mondays forecast.
